Moving on from the basics Heb 6:1-3

John, to me this is to the Christians (elders of the church) to have a sick person come before the Christian elders of the church and they would lay hands on them and pray over them. At no point in history, have the Jews ever been called the church or met in a church, or elders, or laying on...

Saul of Tarsus was not saved on the road to Damascus.

No, c’mon. It’s just an example “It’s just a metaphor dude.”

Moving on from the basics Heb 6:1-3

At no point am I saying to abandon sound teaching or a foundation. And I don’t feel these scriptures from Paul say that either. (Granted this is a public chat that anyone can interact on, whether Christian or not. So you may have some people who aren’t saved or desire God at all, but they know...

Moving on from the basics Heb 6:1-3

Scripture is not always a formula. Jesus also spoke in parables and generalities which frustrated the Pharisees because they needed specifics and would try and dissect scripture to the nth degree. Yes, it helps to have some background and knowledge of the context, but it’s important to have Holy...

Moving on from the basics Heb 6:1-3

So in no way does the original post apply to you or any Christian? And no part of Hebrews or James was meant for any Christian but only unsaved Jews? So there is no part of Hebrews or James that can be applied to any Christians and is no use to us at all? Complete insanity.

Boom. There it is. Thread over

    How do you get saved?

^^^”Keeping God’s commandments and… “All of God’s commandments are required for salvation.” Man, I have heard it all now. If this was true then the Pharisees, Saducees, and all the Jewish leaders who crucified Jesus would be saved. So bad

So, was John (the Baptist’s) baptism of God or Man?

    What is a church?

Sept ‘23?! I’ve got to start looking at the dates on these. The OP kind of alluded to making the thread just to argue - with no real reason for stating it.

    What is a church?

Again, you’ve made some points that we already know, but why did you make the thread? There must’ve been some situation to spark this.

Moving on from the basics Heb 6:1-3

It is man. Again, only a person with a very skewed filter would interpret the scripture to the point of “that’s not talking to me. No way.” How many Pharisees and Jewish leaders “tasted of the Heavenly gifts… partakes of the Holy Spirit…etc”? None. Dude, please tell me that you seriously don’t...

Insomnia -- Let's Have a Discussion That's Exciting Enough to Keep Us Awake -- Or So Boring That It Puts Us to Sleep! :)

Probably something we all sort of struggle with. I’ve tried not having caffeine later in the day. But a lot of times I’ll do stuff in the evenings (tennis leagues) and I’ll slam some coffee on the way out the door. Not to be be too preachy, but when I start praying I usually get sleepy. This...

Moving on from the basics Heb 6:1-3

John, these verses were to the Christians. I’m not even gonna try and show you any scripture. Until God opens your eyes, this is an example of complete selective blindness.

How does that relate at all to the original post?

Well, the next step for Christians after salvation would be the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

Moving on from the basics Heb 6:1-3

I didn’t think I did. When I read these verses, it’s a general encouragement by Paul to the Christians (and to us) to progress spiritually. I’m not sure any of the churches that Paul preached to or wrote letters to were Jew or Gentile specific, but rather Christians. Is that what you’re saying...

Moving on from the basics Heb 6:1-3

Paul’s preaching was to the gentiles. He had tried preaching to the Jews and almost died. I’m scratching my head how you associate these two verses directed at the Jews. Not sure why you would go to those lengths to show that Paul was not speaking this to us, the gentiles?
