Thank God for the renewing of our minds. :) It's pure joy.

    Not By Works

If you will recall (maybe you guys won't remember), I used to believe one could be cut off for subsequent unbelief. I walked with God, I had received the Holy Spirit, we shared a meal together often. And I believed one could be cut off for subsequent unbelief. Then one day, it occurred to me...

You can NEVER go wrong by pointing to Jesus and praying. :)

Woman can't teach in the congregation

I know I just discussed this with you elsewhere angela, but it was just really neat to read your post #163 and my post on the spirit of the words, and to find that He took you (a scholar) and me, (an unlearned woman) by a different way to the same agreement. He didn't show me the greek at all...

    millennial kingdom

It actually doesn't say it will be perfect. It does seem a whole lot better though. It says there won't be war, but it does say there will be disputes, which Jesus will settle. And it says men will live longer than the work of their hands. I take that to mean they will outlive the houses they...

    Should Christians own guns?

I always enter these threads hoping that I will finally run across a man or woman who the Spirit has given the spirit of the words on that verse. OR that can tie in the verses in tension to it. I KNOW that one day He will show me. Or He will send someone who can tell me.

    Baptism and holy spirit

It definitely does say they all were filled and began to speak in tongues.

    Baptism and holy spirit

Gosh sakes I just read it and missed that?? I need to read more slowly and stop trying to do 5 things at once.

    Baptism and holy spirit

I don't at all get the impression that only 12 spoke in tongues...I get the impression that they all did. But I guess we can't know for sure. Some don't ever speak in tongues so...perhaps not they all did. Don't know. Shrume will have to eat his dinner and then tell us how he arrives at being...

    Baptism and holy spirit

Well, what if I like "what ifs...?" :p And my what if actually happened or else paul wouldn't have needed to address it to help them. Yes, there should have been interpretation. If there had been, he wouldn't have had to address it.

Is it true as is or is it not?

The odd thing is that I've never done that to the best of my knowledge. My problem is more seeing two verses that seem to war with one another and not being able to put it to rest until they no longer war with each other. I see the seeming contradictions. I say seeming contradictions. I'm like...

    Baptism and holy spirit

The only thing different that I see is that they needed some guidance regarding speaking in them in a gathering...

    Baptism and holy spirit

Correct. But if they were in a gathering of believers later, and someone spoke in tongues but no one was present whose original tongue it was, and no one manifested interpretation, then what would be the point of babbling on in it? You aren't there to just feed yourself and let others go hungry.

But what paul said isn't strange to me.
  17. S

    Baptism and holy spirit

I mean, it is still strange. I don't think anyone fully understands exactly everything about tongues. There's a lot of mystery there.

    Baptism and holy spirit

The only thing that makes them different is that on Pentecost, the interpreters were there, all hearing and interpreting in their own language. In the gathering paul was speaking to, he said don't do it aloud if there are no interpreters. If there is someone to interpret, they weren't to forbid...

Is it true as is or is it not?

I don't think the problem most of the time is adding to scripture...at least concerning what you brought up, healing. I think the problem more often is running with a scripture WITHOUT taking into account the scripture that is in tension to the one they really like. And there is always one or...
