    Baptism and holy spirit

It isn't defined in the bible. It's ineffable. It is spoken of, but it isn't defined graphically. If you feel no soaring when you are praying in spirit, then you aren't praying in spirit. You don't have deep communion with God in a wooden manner. You can pray sometimes in a wooden manner, but...

    Baptism and holy spirit

It's as if you are peeking into someone elses bridal chambers and announcing to the bride and groom that they are doing it wrong! It's unseemly.

    Baptism and holy spirit

Speaking in various tongues is not what brings you into the Kings chambers. The King extending His scepter and inviting you to touch it is what brings you into His chambers. And yes, He will do that through the gift/manifestation of tongues. And other times, He brings someone to that deep...

    Baptism and holy spirit

Yes, I adamantly hold that God would not withhold a gift/manifestation from one of His children that was necessary for communion with Him. Praying in spirit is deep communion with the Lover of my soul. Just because when one prays in various tongues they are praying in Spirit DOES NOT MEAN that...

    Baptism and holy spirit

I don't think any of those things. Agreed. But we don't agree that one must have the gift of tongues upon receiving the Holy Spirit. Some dont, and some never do, receive this gift/,manifestation. They aren't afraid of it, and some of them seem to even understand it better than some who DO...

    Baptism and holy spirit

Huh uh, nonsense. Why did Paul ask some men: did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed? If he could be sure just by looking at them, he wouldn't have asked that. And no, I was NOT talking about the apostles by what I said prpreviously because none of them would have DARED to preach a...

    Baptism and holy spirit

thank you for talking with me. I'm dropping this particular part of the conversation. You make, literally, no sense to me. It's rare, but it happens occasionally, that I can't understand a single thing someone says in here.

    Baptism and holy spirit

news aren't the only people who believe not. Sometimes poles, Italians and French people believe not. Jews aren't t he only people who don't believe. Sometimes poles, Italians, French and Roman people don't believe too. So no, Paul did not say to not speak in tongues unless unbelieving jews...

    Baptism and holy spirit

Not a single person in here has said anything about seeking the gifts before you will believe. It was to believers that paul said to desire the best gifts. When he said it, was he encouraging them to evilly seek after signs?

    Baptism and holy spirit

It makes no sense to me that he would help corinhtians with orderly gathering and not mention that they weren't to speak in tongues unless a jewish unbeliever was present.

    Baptism and holy spirit

We're talking about Corinthians. Do you think they may have been a mixture of saved jews and saved gentiles present at the Corinth gathering? I mean paul himself was a saved jew. And he traveled at times with a saved gentile.

    Baptism and holy spirit

Too bad paul didn't instruct them to only speak in tongues if a jew was present. :) At Pentecost everyone heard in their own language. It would be odd to insist that only jews were present and hearing in their own tongue...

Except that it doesn't have so much to do with jew or non jew but rather with an out of control gathering he was instructing.

    Baptism and holy spirit

Except paul said to earnestly desire the gifts of the Spirit...But you say it is seeking after signs? Have you replaced Paul? :)

    Baptism and holy spirit

So earnestly desiring the gifts/manifestations is seeking after a sign to your understanding?

    Baptism and holy spirit

So you believe tongues are for the purpose of God so that He can mock jews?
