    Imputed Righteousness???

When Jesus said, "I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly" (Jn 10:10), He certainly meant to state His purpose in comming, and He certainly meant to say that those who receive life have it and have it abundantly.

    Imputed Righteousness???

Do you not know that the new man "was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness" (Eph 4:24)? There is more to this than meets the eye.

    Imputed Righteousness???

I see you don't want to answer the question. Obviously the answer is that the person who is declared righteous despite the fact that he "does not work but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly" does not fit into either the works category or the faith plus works category. The same is true...

    Imputed Righteousness???

It's a subjunctive in a purpose clause. He made Him sin for the purpose of making us the righteousness of God in Him. His purpose was to accomplish something, which thing was accomplished.

    Imputed Righteousness???

How does the person of Romans 4:5 ("But to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness") fit into either of the two paradigms you are describing?

    Imputed Righteousness???

You are correct. The following passage teaches us that God counts our faith as righteousness, but it does not imply we are credited with the righteousness of Christ... Abraham Justified by Faith 4 What then shall we say that Abraham our father has found according to the flesh? 2 For if Abraham...

what I learned about oneness pentecostalism

It is best to leave judgement to God... 7 Judge not, that you be not judged. 2 For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you. (Mt 7:1–2)

what I learned about oneness pentecostalism

I learned another new thing today, the Athanasian Creed... Whosoever will be saved, before all things it is necessary that he hold the catholic faith. Which faith unless every one do keep whole and undefiled, without doubt he shall perish everlastingly. And the catholic faith is this: that we...

    2 Timothy 3-5 - Thoughts?

I am trying to grasp what you are asking, but I'm coming up short. Could you be more specific?

Christians need to continue to repent of their sins

My lived experience is consistent with Hebrews 12:5-11... 5 And you have forgotten the exhortation which speaks to you as to sons: “My son, do not despise the chastening of the LORD, Nor be discouraged when you are rebuked by Him; 6 For whom the LORD loves He...

Where Did Our Faith Come From?

John 6:45 is one of my favorite verses. It is written in the prophets, ‘And they shall all be taught by God.’ Therefore everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to Me. (Jn 6:45) God is involved in every salvation experience. He personally teaches people that they are sinners...

Where Did Our Faith Come From?

I've never considered that before. I'll look at it now... 13 And on the Sabbath day we went out of the city to the riverside, where prayer was customarily made; and we sat down and spoke to the women who met there. 14 Now a certain woman named Lydia heard us. She was a seller of purple from the...

Where Did Our Faith Come From?

It does not appear that you understand the different ways "faith" is used in the NT. According to the Louw-Nida Greek-English lexicon, it has these senses... πίστις, εως f a. what can be believed: 31.43 b. trust: 31.85 c. trustworthiness: 31.88 d. Christian faith: 31.102 e. doctrine...

    Hermeneutics: Interpreting Scripture

I'll just cut to the chase instead of giving an elaborate explanation. 2 Timothy 3:14 says that when we know that our learning and assurance comes from the God who lives in our hearts, we can stand in unwavering confidence in the things He has taught us and has assured us of. And as you have...

    Hermeneutics: Interpreting Scripture

I will answer the question by telling a story... I had a interaction with a preacher who's church I was visiting. The discussion turned south when He would not concede that God's authority is greater than the Bible's authority. As I was leaving, he said, "Something is wrong with your...

I am completely lost. Which verse are you talking about that is the most disfigured one?

I'm not sure why you felt the need to go to this verse in response to what I said.

They are not a hoax or a cruel joke. It takes a lot of cynicism to think otherwise.
