Meh, won't happen, humans like derailing things, even in real life. (Did you ever attend a yearling meeting in something?)

Report the person if they are breaking rules
put them on ignore if they annoy you. That way you stay out of trouble too by not being tempted to reply

If Purge to you means slander think again. God never contradicts himself. In addition the purging this thread is doing is not keeping things in the light, but assuming judgement and is not allowing for that person to defend themselves. I never want to skip any verse ever but for me it's also any that holds true to understanding scripture and God's will.

When people approach others with the attitude I have seen in here the Spirit of God is not directing that. I am not trying to restart the debate of official rebuke and correction either, for that is part of the whole of Scripture. But instead of assuming peoples positions we need to stay on Gods conclusions. When someone believes contrary to our beliefs we need to exhort them to Christ. meaning lovingly bring them back, not rightfully fingering their face and labelling them for all to see.

Putting a person on ignore is only effective if you stop responding or should I say adding fuel to the fire.
People get tired of posting and there is never a response but if you see the same name over and over derailing the thread and people are responding to that person then I think the problem should be blamed on the ones responding or adding the fuel.

well sure, why not just let one person derail thread after thread and continuously go on and on and on about their personal version of the Bible which version, by the way, basically, involves loosing one's salvation daily (unless of course you are sin free as is claimed from time to time), salvation by works even though you say you believe in Jesus atoning death, deliberately twisting what others say to refute your doctrine and generally derailing every topic that is started.

Sure....I actually agree that if they are ignored they MAY stop...but I honestly do not see that happening

Therefore, I suggest a different approach that would actually work irregardless of who creates the chaos

Good attitude to have for yourself.

Same bully doing the same thing to others, does this advice still work? If everyone sits back and ignores when a bully does this to many, then all we get is the bully destroys and then run the whole, while we just mind our own business.

that makes me no better then the person who dragged me down to their level.....I havent met one person
on this site who is uncappable of defending themselves......Jesus never argued with the devil....why do we........if an intruder comes to attack a thread......maybe instead of attacking back.....we all just pray for them....right there on the thread.....get about 5 people praying for that persons peace.......maybe just maybe
they will leave....jmo

This reminds me of what's happening in America. It's not the rioters' fault. "Mob mentality." "They are disenfranchised." "They can't help themselves." Tell that to the store owner whose business was destroyed in the riots.

So, your answer is to punish anyone who reacts to the problem?

Better idea. How about the Bible answer?

15 “If your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault, between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained your brother. 16 But if he does not listen, take one or two others along with you, that every charge may be established by the evidence of two or three witnesses. 17 If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church. And given, that doesn't work online so easily, how about Ember's answer? Blaming the wrong people is a worldly answer, not a Christian answer.

If Jesus never argued with the devil, what happened to Jesus in those 40 days he was in the wilderness? Was he hallucinating? Maybe, just maybe, God wants us to act, instead of hoping for divine intervention. He gave us strength for a reason.We are to serve, which isn't always sitting around praying.

I think Ember has a good idea to serve.

Again, they have the option of starting their own thread and posting and defending until the cows come home...and that can be a long time if you don't happen to have cows :p

Welcome the world called INTERNET...where all sorts of ideologies exist, will blossum, will resurrect, will be debated and will be either ignored, or followed. This is NOT a four walled 'churchhouse' full of holy spirit filled utopian Christ followers. This is what you get in cyber space. You will find real aliens that have twisted views different from your own. You will find legalists, New Agers, conservatives and complete extremists. What to do, what to do......here's a few options: Stay away from the internet (lol), complain a lot (lol), or stick to your guns and grow stronger in your relationship to CHRIST. THere is NO perfect church, no perfect CHRISTIAN forum, no perfect body of CHRIST as you can tell. If JESUS tarries and holds off from coming back soon, rest assured someone down the line will also post their idea of "Keeping threads honest".

Ya know what? I'm beginning to think this Suggestion board serves two purposes:
1. It really does give RobOp ideas on how to imporve the site.
2. It gives almost everyone else plenty of time to tell why every single suggestion ever presented won't work because... Well, who cares because what, just as long as someone can come up with some vague excuse why it can't work?

I'm thrilled for the first reason and getting mighty annoyed for the second reason. I'm really annoyed with the second reason when the same two excuses are used:
1. "Not my problem."
2. "This is the Internet."

Gee, folks? If it's not your problem why worry about it? If whatever concept that comes up isn't your problem, there are plenty of other threads to respond to.

As for "This is the Internet?" No! :eek: Really? You don't say? Whew, I didn't know that! All this time I thought I was using my keyboard with my toaster oven. (Oh, come on! Humor is a good thing. lol)

But all sarcasm aside, isn't the purpose for this site, in some degree, so Christians don't have to deal with how the world treats us in one corner of the Internet? There aren't very many places left where we don't have to be on guard, don't have to constantly expect the next attack, don't have to pick up our recently sharpened broadsword, don't have to spend our last niblet of patience to pray heaps to have God stop us from attacking the person attacking us. Isn't that a reason in itself to make this something better? To give room for the possibility of stopping heretics from destroying every single tiny thread just to make sure absolutely everyone knows Christians must be perfect or they aren't Christians? How about just that? And, wow! On the Internet too?
