How totally in opposition this thread is to the movie of the same name that just came out...... How ironic.

To me it's like when we were little. Our parents understood four kids in the house would cause contention and the furniture couldn't withstand it, so they kicked us out into the backyard and let us at it. Seems like this room is the backyard. If you're not looking for a fight, don't enter into the backyard. Meanwhile, the furniture is safe. :)
Sounds like a lot of people's concept of their "holy" church facilities. "Let the low-lifes fight in the city streets." "Keep our buildings clean, safe and sacred."

Except that at our place, we spend more time in the streets than we ever do at our building. Jesus told us to go to the backyards of the world... even bring them into our buildinds to sit on our furniture.

"No", I see this whole suggestion as no more than some people's hope and desire to be even more vindictive and hateful without anyone stopping them.

A forum for Westboro.

I think a lot of people read it this way:
"Speak the blasting TRUTH...
and even in love if you have to

Whereas, I read it as:
"Speak to people in love, and convey the truth to them in the same tone."

I'm for it, despite the "Rodney King" manure. It gives room for the righteous to do their thing, and then the BDF can truly become the Bible Discussion Forum again.

I don't even care if the mods choose to mod more often or not. Half the not-personal-attacks are personal attacks anyway, so let those out for a good fight enter.

One small change though. I'd title it the No-Holds-Bar-Wrestling Room.

This resolves the eternal debate on what the BDF is about and the "but how do we stop people from 'debating'?" go-to excuse given in the BDF for the eternal freedom of letting arguers take over every thread to argue.

Given crossnote is on the side of debate/arguing, and I'm on the side of fellowship/questions, that the two of us can agree on this one -- doesn't that say this is a great idea?
HEHE, only Lynn knowing that many unregenerate field CC, I just don't think it a good idea for the WarRoom to be open to personal attacks...that would go south in a nano second.

As much as we'd like to think we're doing God a service by correcting others, I know the only battle I fight is the one against my own mind (logic, carnal thoughts, pride, fear, self-righteousness, etc.). Every moment of every day I have to choose whether or not I'm going to completely rest in Jesus Christ --- or I am going to try to figure out a formula to change myself, change other people and/or change circumstances.

I must be growing spiritually, glory to God. Because I'm remembering it quicker and quicker with every step I take.

Listen to the world's voice & my own logic?? --- or believe Jesus and rest?? I'LL TAKE REST!!!

Jesus has made it so simple and easy! I love His grace! YAY! Thank you, Lord! \:eek:/

Nope, simply a site free from comments that pour guilt on an honest debate.

We are aware, are we not, that a PM can be opened up with multiple people at one time? What better venue to slash away all you want with not a soul ever moderating or even commenting to you.

Wow. A pessimist, huh? Even I don't see the warriors as bad as Westboro. And I don't think we stop fellowshiping. I see this as a good way of getting out the fight while giving room for the baffled, wounded, hungry, curious. (I'm most often baffled, if you're wondering who the baffled are. lol)

As for getting out on the street, there's also a front door/front yard and notice, many walk in through the front door.

The truth is no matter what we want, it's not going to happen on this site because people want different things. They want to argue, and I can't fault them for that, because it's not like arguing is discouraged. We cannot change what is, but we can give room for different wants. In this case, "room" is the want. "Room" for another forum? Why not?

Assume you cannot turn everyone into you. Okay, got that? Then why not give others what they want?

In your opinion, what's "bad" about Westboro? Everything they say is backed by Scripture. Just like any particularly biased or prejudiced interpretation WE might choose to make of any certain Scripture. They are proclaiming "The Truth" as they read it and understand it.

You have more power than you know. I don't know if you get this or not, but I pick out you for a reason. You're a leader, whether you accept that or not. Don't want personal attacks? Let that come out loud and clear, and you are heard. You are heard and those that follow your lead also stop. You're not the only leader on here, but if those that lead lead well, it happens without moderation.

Slashing? Unmoderated? Or were you just thinking to yourself?

Well, I doubt there is anyone here who doubts a room like that would soon become pretty nasty.

So, that leaves us asking..... "We already complain of the lousy examples we set for searchers of God. Undoubtedly, this would only exacerbate the negative propaganda. Thus, I think something like this done on unseen (by the general forum) PM would be the way to go."

And this could be implemented right this minute.... before 3:00.

This is not that. This is a disagreement (and agreement) on style. We cannot get everyone to do what we want. And the two wants aren't bad wants.

On the one side, we have crossnote and his kind of people -- those who do like to both debate and argue over what the Bible says. More power to them, considering without them, we'd all be stuck forever thinking maybe buying indulgences isn't a bad thing. Maybe praying people out of purgatory isn't a bad thing, just in case. (Not in the Bible, but hey, someone caught wind of it and maybe they're smarter than I am, so let's hedge our bets.) Or even trinity isn't Biblical. There is purpose in what crossnotes does.

But there is also purpose in letting Bible discussions stay discussions as much as possible. There are people who think they're Christian on here who aren't. There are non-Christians on here. There are babes in Christ, and rhinoceroses in Christ. (Those of us with tough gray wrinkly skin. lol) There are hurting people, curious people, even baffled people on here. And we all need a place where we can question without constantly being bombard in the Royal Rumble.

I'm going to give scripture that crossnote turned me on to again.
3 For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:
2 a time to be born, and a time to die;
a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted;
3 a time to kill, and a time to heal;
a time to break down, and a time to build up;
4 a time to weep, and a time to laugh;
a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
5 a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together;
a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
6 a time to seek, and a time to lose;
a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
7 a time to tear, and a time to sew;
a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
8 a time to love, and a time to hate;
a time for war, and a time for peace.

There is a time for both sides! We (hope you don't mind I'm joining you here, crossnote) are asking for a time for both without interfering with the other's time.
