Pretty sure creating places to debate has been suggested, and refused, more than once.
And people are less complaining about reasonable, respectable debates and more about the ungodly trash talking and insulting that is Not part of a genuine debate. If the BDF had civil, respectful debates, and every single thread didn't turn into a battle royale then there would be less 'Rodney Kings'. People are sick of the way people act, not debates.
488 pages and counting says no we're not sick of it. I've got no problems with debating, or even arguing. I just don't want it considered the thing to do on Bible Discussions. There is a time to fight the good fight. There is a time to draw men in. I can even see, in the last week, instead of diving in at Catholics, to invite them in on the debate. That way they don't have to dive in if they don't want to, and they stick around a while.

Sigh, I guess I'll just have to keep cutting butterfly nets and pulling flowers out of people's hair in BDF.

Why you're focusing entirely on the Catholic thing is beyond me. And Catholics pick their share of fights on this site, so they aren't exactly the innocent victims here. And they always have a response, which proves we don't need to invite them, because like everyone else on the site, they jump in anyways.
And I didn't say Everyone was tired of debating. I said...
those who are complaining are complaining about the ungodly way people treat each other

Chances of it changing are slim anyways. This is how the site owner has allowed things to be long, long before you joined. And creating a section for debate and saying another section is t for debate just creates more places for people to continue their viscous attacks. And the site can't monitor BDF 24/7 to enforce no debating, if we had a debate section. Then it turns into 'what qualifies as a debate?' You know there will be constant battles with mods over whether something qualifies as a debate or not.

As said before, debate areas have been suggested And Refused previously, multiple times, by the site owner. So unless he changes his mind and takes this from a fellowship site to a debate site then this is all a moot discussion.

In your opinion, what's "bad" about Westboro? Everything they say is backed by Scripture. Just like any particularly biased or prejudiced interpretation WE might choose to make of any certain Scripture. They are proclaiming "The Truth" as they read it and understand it.
What is bad about Westboro is that they hate Jews (Jesus was a Jew), they hate adulterers (Jesus loved the one who was caught in adultery and said go and sin no more), they hate Muslims (Jesus said to love the Lord your God with all your heart and your soul and your mind and your strength and to love your neighbor as yourself), they hate homosexuals (Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength and love your neighbor as yourself). Everything they say is not backed up by Scripture, but Scripture that they has twisted to fit their views of who God is, they most likely take a lot of verses out of context and might think that they are still in the Old Covenant days, that ended when Jesus came to earth, lived a pure and sinless life, died on the cross for their sins because he loved them and to take the death penalty for their sins and rose from the dead on the third day. Their interpretation is prejudiced (not everyone's interpretation of Scripture is prejudiced or particularly biased, sometimes it is just plain wrong, half wrong and half right, etc. How dare you defend Westboro! They are not saved, they are not Christians, and they are going to hell. In fact lately I have been praying that God would change the cult member's hearts and that they would give their heart of stone to Jesus for a heart of flesh. Plus, where in the Scriptures does it say to protest a soldier's death and connect it to homosexuality? Nowhere. Where does it say to say hateful things and picket in a nasty way? Nowhere. The Truth they proclaim, they proclaim it out of hate not out of love. They do not follow Jesus' teachings. They are not proclaiming Jesus, who is the Truth, the Way, and the Life and no one comes to the Father except through me, as is said in John 14:6. They read it through their cultic eyes instead of reading what it says and they do not understand what they are reading, but would say they understand what they are reading because they are using their cultic eyes. Do not defend Westboro cult. God bless. Have a beautiful day! As for this War Room, I say nay to it. It works good on paper but not in reality I don't think.

If this is a fellowship site, it fails massively.

I was a bit displeased to read that folks wants a war room. I have experienced that there is some mighty angry people posting in the different rooms, and some of the responses they are giving to others frightens me. Giving them a room where war is the word of the day isn't appealing in my opinion. I think people, after spending time in the war room, will be opening new fronts all over CC. I think we need peace keepers on here. Labelling peace keepers "Rodney Kings" is saying a lot about what a person thinks of peace keepers, and I dont think that is good for fellowship. Just saying.

I can see the confusion, since this is at the top of Every page you visit on the site
Fellowship.jpg

As far as it failing, i can assure you, given the last 3 responses you've written to me, you are just as much part of the problem.
