We are aware, are we not, that a PM can be opened up with multiple people at one time? What better venue to slash away all you want with not a soul ever moderating or even commenting to you.
We weren't. (Hey, I didn't know that. lol) But to post means it stays forever for all to see. If TinTin didn't ask the same question I had about a use of a word in Genesis and then in Leviticus, I would never have found this site.

Crossnote and I disagree at roughly a 50% rate, but I have no doubt he contends for God.

There is good to debate in public.

In your opinion, what's "bad" about Westboro? Everything they say is backed by Scripture. Just like any particularly biased or prejudiced interpretation WE might choose to make of any certain Scripture. They are proclaiming "The Truth" as they read it and understand it.
Suggestion board. Not "What's wrong with Westboro" board. (Red herring.)

Well, I doubt there is anyone here who doubts a room like that would soon become pretty nasty.

So, that leaves us asking..... "We already complain of the lousy examples we set for searchers of God. Undoubtedly, this would only exacerbate the negative propaganda. Thus, I think something like this done on unseen (by the general forum) PM would be the way to go."

And this could be implemented right this minute.... before 3:00.
Now comes the REAL question.....

Do we feel our negative and condescending words have to be seen by everyone else?

This is not that. This is a disagreement (and agreement) on style. We cannot get everyone to do what we want. And the two wants aren't bad wants.

On the one side, we have crossnote and his kind of people -- those who do like to both debate and argue over what the Bible says. More power to them, considering without them, we'd all be stuck forever thinking maybe buying indulgences isn't a bad thing. Maybe praying people out of purgatory isn't a bad thing, just in case. (Not in the Bible, but hey, someone caught wind of it and maybe they're smarter than I am, so let's hedge our bets.) Or even trinity isn't Biblical. There is purpose in what crossnotes does.

But there is also purpose in letting Bible discussions stay discussions as much as possible. There are people who think they're Christian on here who aren't. There are non-Christians on here. There are babes in Christ, and rhinoceroses in Christ. (Those of us with tough gray wrinkly skin. lol) There are hurting people, curious people, even baffled people on here. And we all need a place where we can question without constantly being bombard in the Royal Rumble.

I'm going to give scripture that crossnote turned me on to again.
3 For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:
2 a time to be born, and a time to die;
a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted;
3 a time to kill, and a time to heal;
a time to break down, and a time to build up;
4 a time to weep, and a time to laugh;
a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
5 a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together;
a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
6 a time to seek, and a time to lose;
a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
7 a time to tear, and a time to sew;
a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
8 a time to love, and a time to hate;
a time for war, and a time for peace.

There is a time for both sides! We (hope you don't mind I'm joining you here, crossnote) are asking for a time for both without interfering with the other's time.
I was speaking for myself, beloved atwhatcost. :eek: The Lord knows the worst place for me is a war room. I'm a fighter by carnal nature. I can box like a pro and can roundhouse kick like Chuck Norris. It's taken me many, many grueling years to come to the truth that Jesus prefers I not war against flesh & blood but against the spirits that coax me into warfare with others.

And what helps me remember is looking at Jesus, the Prince of Peace. :)

A tougher one...... Are they any more unscriptural than the rest of us? That one is a zinger, because, technically, they aren't.

How many of us either miss that, or forget it.

See? And that's why I don't compliment or rebuke. :confused:

I wasn't rebuking. I was telling you you're stronger than you think. :rolleyes:

Rebuke never entered my head there. (Really, really guileless.)

I suspect if those who have the power simply tell someone that personal attacks aren't welcomed, the attack ratio goes down incredibly. Sure, there are some who come just to attack, but most attack, including me, because we see it's approved to do so, until otherwise notified.

Right, and in the WarRoom that can be clarified :)

Me too, so I wouldn't go in often.

I'm also incredibly nosy, so I can see myself sneaking in occasionally. But I can see me doing this

The way we always seem to lower it to? I have to doubt the true value of most of what we leave for the world to read.

It was a rebuke, a good one at that and even if you did not intend it the Holy Spirit used it that way. As of late, I have been coming under conviction that many of my responses are knee jerks and set a terrible example.

I have an alternative suggestion. Since the BDF is already, in reality, the BBF.... why create an even worse example of what the world already thinks "Christianity" is?

Why not create a "benign" BDF?

.......................................................... nah, forget that. We cannot help but fight, no matter WHERE we go.

"It is finished," Jesus said. The best way I can thank him is to believe him.

Do we feel our negative and condescending words have to be seen by everyone else?
"War Room" (or "No-Holds-Bar Room.") Would it not be apparent what you'd be getting by even clicking on the link?

Frankly, I don't go into the Teen Room, the Young Adult Room or the Arabic Room because I know I don't belong in them. Therefore it's not "everyone else" already. (Granted, if given access, I would peek into the Men's Room is one was ever made on here, but I know better than to think I belong, or that I should be shocked by what's discussed in there.)

War Room. I am naturally an arguer. It's not good for me to go into a room called The War Room often, so I know I wouldn't go to the threads that would boil my blood. (I would love room to out and out debate crossnote on End Times theology, knowing we aren't being seen by people who would think "so this is how Christians act. Another reason I'll hate God." I don't debate him now, because too many would think we can't be brothers if we can't even agree on that.)

As for negative and condescending words go, does the lack of such a place stop the negative and condescending words?

The other side of the coin, which I have mentioned in the past, but unfortunately would take a gob of mods is to have a Safe Room, where sincere seekers could come and ask their questions. Debating, arguing etc., would be not allowed and offenders banished to the WarRoom. lol

But, should we actually invite them?

I love that.... "banished to the War Room."................ although no such thing exists. ("Yes", Hillary, the not-so-subtle "guiding by suggestion of existence" has not gone unnoticed. LOL)

I'm sure you've noticed the Safe Room doesn't exist either...just ask Bill.

Pretty sure creating places to debate has been suggested, and refused, more than once.
And people are less complaining about reasonable, respectable debates and more about the ungodly trash talking and insulting that is Not part of a genuine debate. If the BDF had civil, respectful debates, and every single thread didn't turn into a battle royale then there would be less 'Rodney Kings'. People are sick of the way people act, not debates.
