The other striking thing about this particular event is that the LORD spoke to the man through the prophet that lied to him already to rebuke him for disobeying!

Goes to show; do not trust someone who says they are of God and then proceeds to give you instruction contrary to God's word.
That's part of the lesson of this story. The other part, of course, is to seek your own direction from the Lord, and not to seek direction through others. The words of others should confirm what we are already hearing for ourselves. The exception is when we cannot hear for some reason, which could include grief, illness, busyness, distraction, obsession, or unrepentant sin (and likely a few others).

Keep always in mind that whoever calls on Jesus-Yeshua in spirit and truth as Savior , and follows by witnessing He is Lord and Savior is doing so in the spirit of prophecy. This is taught in Revelation.
