Nope... 5 minutes is ridiculous....as would be 30 minutes.
People get pulled away.
Then come back and see a huge goof that was unavoidable.
So something posted that is absurd by accident is cannonized forever.

It is a hoop to jump through that is totally ridiculous.

I was catching up on the forum a few hours ago and there was a supposed new user who posted that Jesus was an occult leader.

I reported it to the mods, and this user was removed as soon as they came online a while later.

This user had two other insulting posts as well, and was obviously here just to stir people up and cause trouble.

I understand that many people think the editing time should be longer, but I am glad that it helps catch users like this so they can't go back and change their posts, or try to claim that wasn't what they meant to say.

The thing is, these bot checks aren't CC's fault, but the service they use to help keep this site on the web; Cloudflare. They're a company that's got a whole monopoly on website hosting. Anyone curious about them should look them up and see what's been controvised about them.

Huh?
He can just post more obscene mess.

If someone is that rebellious and poisonous you ban him.
Then He can't "go back and change it", after the post is fixed/removed.

There is something weird about that 5 min rule.

I have never seen a 5 min rule.
It is a sanction against members.

Tons of people have protested the 5-minute limit over the years.

You're welcome to keep complaining about it, or leave the forum if it's too much for you, but I highly doubt it's going to change.

Ultimately, the 5 minute edit has been in place longer than I have been here, and it's not going to change for the same reasons that have been posted by other users already.

If you were to scan through this sub forum going back 10 years, it's always the same complaints about the edit time and those of us on staff always answer the same way.

Yes, it's an inconvenience for honest users, but bad actors in years past have made it a necessity.

Preview mode is [strictly] for seeing what it should actually look like once it is posted. It is [strictly] for visual effect.

You cannot make corrections while in Preview mode. You have to exit Preview mode back to Edit mode to make corrections.

The difference is seen mostly when you post media or something where it has to be "transformed" into what it will actually look like after posting.
