Don't know how much people now when it comes area, but not long ago I came across a interesting article which indicates that the oldest manuscripts (Papyrus 115) to date have the number of the beast as 616. So if the oldest manuscript has the reference to 616, why do later manuscripts have 666?
What is also interesting in some of the research I have done, the symbols used at the time, looks like to be a reference to the ancient hebrew alphabet (each of the symbols have meanings)
