In the bible days (bible days still), anyone caught in adultery was supposed to be stoned to death, more so prostitution where we are called to flee from any form of it (I Corinth. 6:18-19).
In the incident where Jesus’ attention was drawn, the woman was about to be stoned to death. They said Master this woman was caught in the very act, and according to the Law of Moses
(Leviticus 20:10), she is to be stoned to death.
Jesus answering said, let any who know no sin cast/throw the first stone!
The bible says they all left one after the other, starting from the oldest to the youngest. The only person left with the woman was Jesus. Jesus speaking to her said ‘’Woman, where are those thine accusers? Hath no man condemned thee? She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, neither do I condemn thee: GO, AND SIN NO MORE’’.
It is worth noting that Jesus was the only qualified person in here to condemn this woman, because He knew no sin. But then, He didn’t. By this He is seen fulfilling the purpose of His coming – that of taking our death & giving us His life. He says – Let him or her that has no sin be the first to throw the first stone! If the stone is not to be thrown on you, don’t throw it on another either!

What we notice nowadays is that committers of such acts go about bragging and making headlines in the media, giving every detail of their adulterous acts. There was no stardom attached to it. Adultery was seen as shameful act before God with death as penalty. However, by Jesus’ death at the cross mankind is made free from this death penalty & much more, provided we GO AND SIN NO MORE!
