Yeah I'm fed up with all this oneness pentecostal tongues misinformation.
You do not have to speak in tongues, or be baptized in Jesus name only or anything else these obsessed with tongues individuals tell you.
There is no such thing as baptismal regeneration, which they teach ie. having your sins forgiven which means the blood of Jesus is secondary.
You do not have to be re-baptized if you were baptized in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
And you most certainly, absolutly do have the Holy Spirit indwelling you as a seal that you have indeed been welcomed into the family of believers.
Scripture refutes what you have come to believe.
1. " Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God." John 3:5
It is no coincidence that the initial conversion accounts pertaining to individuals of each group of humanity involved both water and Spirit. (Acts 2:38, 8:12-18, 10:43-48, 19:1-7)
2. "And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance." Acts 2:4, 10:43-48, 19:1-7
3. The first verse in this account refutes the idea you that the blood of Jesus is secondary, as you suggest. It reveals, it is in fact the shed blood of Jesus that makes being born again even possible!
"Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that
God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ. Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren,
what shall we do?
Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and
be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.
Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine... Acts 2:36-41
4. Paul revealed how a person is water baptized matters. He re-baptized those who John baptized previously. "And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism. Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.
When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus." Acts 19:3-5
5. As shared previously, Paul's letter to the Ephesians indicated they were sealed with the Holy Ghost after hearing the word of truth. The word of truth Paul preached to them is recorded in Acts 19:1-7. Paul stayed in Ephesus with the 12 men who had placed their trust in Jesus. Their willingness to believe and obey Jesus' messenger resulted in their being reborn of water and Spirit. But sadly, as seen today, many in Ephesus chose not to believe the gospel message Paul proclaimed.
Acts 19:8-10
"And he
(Paul) went into the synagogue, and spake boldly for the space of three months, disputing and persuading the things concerning the kingdom of God.
But when divers were hardened, and believed not, but spake evil of that way before the multitude,
he departed from them,
and separated the disciples, disputing daily in the school of one Tyrannus.
And this continued by the space of two years; so that all they which dwelt in Asia heard the word of the Lord Jesus, both Jews and Greeks."
Jesus did not tell those who believed on him that they were good to go. What He told them was, "
If ye continue in my word,
then are ye my disciples indeed;
And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." (John 8:31-32)
