6 Now it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born to them, 2 that the sons of God saw the daughters of men, that they were beautiful; and they took wives for themselves of all whom they chose.

Some say the Sons of God in verse 2 is referring to fallen angels. Some say it's line of Seth. What do you say?... I'll comment my position through-out the comments

I dont know if it would matter...they would have either died in the flood and had such bloodlines thinned out to such a small percentage thats its unnoticable.

We, who believe the Word, know Jesus, Yeshua, is the only begotten Son of Yahweh. Because we believe Him we have been given power to become sons of Yahweh, God. Because it is written we will be like the angels, it stands to reason the "sons of God" are angels. Here are some comparisons for you all.

Gen 6:2
(ASV) that the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all that they chose.
(Darby) that the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair, and took themselves wives of all that they chose.

(DRB) The sons of God seeing the daughters of men, that they were fair, took to themselves wives of all which they chose.

Well if angels have the creative prowess like God, I would argue that this theory undermines the gospel and it can't be trusted. For if angels and masquerade as men, who's to say Satan didn't appear to us as a counterfeit Jesus, making Him to be a false God. Angels can only appears as men if God ordains it.

Not only that, God said it each kind will reproduce after each kind (Genesis 1:21). Angels are of the spirit world, not the physical world. Just because the bible says men are like angels doesn't mean we are angels or vise versa. We know that angels in heaven don't marry and reproduce from what Jesus said in Matthew 22:29-30.

Also, if we look at the context of the passage, its all about judgment upon men for their sinfulness. Were the angels judged at all here? Besides the "sons of God" there is no other indication that this a judgment on any other then mankind.

What I have posted is my understanding, which I know is not etched in stone.

It was not put forth as an argument. When the three angels of God came down, they walked with Abraham, conversed with him and ate with him.

As far as the Word being undermined by my understanding, is it not written in the New Testament that we should practice hospitality for who knows we are not entertaining an angel unawares?

I havnt made any final decision....but right off
the after its own kind seemed to me to be a rule
to use. So i did. So i agree with you there.

OH JaumeJ, I appreciate you brother and your opinion. I do not mean to put you or anyone on the spot, but just to see where people stand. Yes I think angels can masquerade as men but only by the prowess of God's creativity and will as the example you gave. But to say angels came down from heaven to have sex with beautiful woman to create the Nephilim is a stretch to me.

That is all fine with me, thank you. I believe what is reported in Genesis, although I do not claim total understanding. God bless you and keep you close always, amen..........

Genesis 4:26 And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enos: then began men to call upon the name of the Lord.

I think these are the sons of God mentioned in Genesis 6:2

The ancient legends say that Adam and Eve's children divided into two parts. Some remained at the gate of the garden and prayed to be let back in for about 200 years. The others left and lived like cavemen. After 200 years or so, God told the first group to shepherd the second group, and use what he had taught them to better their lives. In anger that God did not let them back into the Garden, the first group met with the fallen angels of Jude 6 and 2 Pt. 2:4 and invited the angels to possess them. These are the "sons of God". (and it's not sons of Yahweh, it's sons of Elohim). They are also called "nephilim" or "fallen ones", since they are fallen prayer warriors possessed by fallen demons. (And the Bible says their offspring did not die in the Flood: Gen. 6:4 "giants were on the earth...after." Goliath was one.)

This story is supported by archeological evidence (the temples by the Sphinx, and many finds and pictures of giants throughout OT historical times), Sumerian cylinder seals (showing medical attempts to breed "gods") and the Egyptian language, where the later "gods" are called mesnuti, or "children of the shepherds" by word origin, later meaning "manufactured". Personally, I think this is the line of Cain, although Jewish tradition wants it to be the line of Seth. The Mayan Popul Vuh implies they became Bigfoot.

Interesting. Could they be the children Adam and Eve had before they fell?

I have seen nothing either way. They would have been expelled from the garden with their parents, since in Adam all men sinned. If they were born later, Adam and Eve would certainly have told them the story.

They are fallen angels. sons of God in gen 6.. Not sons of man.

Jude 1: 6

And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day. 7Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.

I believe, and it's an opinion, that what some call Watchers/Angels/Sons of God are the same as us, only they were spirit at first that had not put on the flesh. We are flesh that may or may not have put on the spirit, but I believe we are the same and yet still different because of our beginning. It's true that it's impossible for God to lie, but nothing is really impossible with God. In the same way we will never put the flesh on once it is completely off, and by flesh I am saying an earthen vessel motivated by an evil spirit. There is holy flesh as well. I believe that spirit beings will always have the power to put on an earthen vessel (in other words, change appearance and other things), but thank God we know too well the conseuquences of loving corruptible things, which is what I believe the Watchers did.

I love you all.

Would they? Our 'curse' is being born into a fallen nature. They wouldn't have been born with it, so would they have fallen too? They obviously decided to join us, evidently, which may be why God sets them apart for a special judgment.

Fallen angels are what make up demons. I think they're a different animal. If Adam and Eve had had children before the fall (they were told to go forth and multiply, and we have no idea how long that went on before the apple incident) these offspring would have had the spiritual embodiment that we fallen lack. In that sense they would be angel-like.

Of course, I could be wrong...

Read the context, Genesis 4 mentions Cains line who did not follow God, while Genesis 5 mentions Seth's line who were followers of God. Then chapter 6 the 2 lines come together. God also told Israel not to marry unbelievers and every time they did it ended up in apostasy.

'Sons of God' is a phrase used repeatedly in the O.T. to describe angels.
Also if there was a sort of super race developed by this gene splicing/ manipulation;
it would explain the need for God the destroy all flesh(mankind) on the earth.
And also it would explain the greek gods.
Noah's sons lived a long time to tell others what it was like before the flood.
These could be the stories of god-like men that so many cultures have from the earliest times of antiquity.
