Are you denying the veracity of the canon Bible? That's big mistake, but I guess you probably read it first. Several major valid English translations exist, start with the KJV, or use the ESV if you're too stupid.
So, everyone who is currently reading the ESV version is stupid?

The JWs are Arian heretics with a whole bunch other stuff, they're going to hellfire too with the modalists and the Jezebels.

Didn't say there were 144,000 only that will be saved, we're just merely the most faithful.
Who is this 'we're? What is this presumption based on?

Yeah, so the last couple of days this song has been playing in my mind.
 Don't know why a song called "Creed" would get stuck in my head after spending time in this thread 🤷‍♀️
Oh well. Praise Jesus!

Yeah... I like that song quite a bit... I think it's on the Nicene creed... I always liked Third Day... I think because the lead singer sounds almost exactly like Travis Tritt....

You'll run into this type alot in online christian circles. We call them the self appointed prophet / preacher or sap for short. Basically I've come to think of them as the people who are so arrogant and lacking in people skills that they can't be part of a church and find their significance in their assumed spiritual superiority so much superior that they've rejected church as corrupted and worldly and therefore beneath their exalted spiritual state. And any suggestion that they're not as spiritual as they (want you to) think they are is seen as persecution against God's lone faithful servant.

Very insightful.... explains a lot. Much appreciated.

KJV is the best really, not just the flow, but really older mode of English = greater surety
We disagree on this... using an archaic form of English is not a good way to ensure accuracy. Not only do you have to have Hebrew/Greek translated into English, but then you have to translate the archaic English into contemporary English.

..... ever play the telephone game?

It's a simple question but you keep not answering it. Which church do you attend?
Likewise.

So, everyone who is currently reading the ESV version is stupid?
Yea too stupid to read the KJV even though it's not really that difficult

Who is this 'we're? What is this presumption based on?
The great thing is this proves the last sentence since the answer is literally in the quote.

Perhaps, you are the only one.
Obviously not.

There's a bible that's also a cannon? First I've heard....
Wow so you don't even know the canon either? No wonder your generation fell so far and ruined so much.

Literally it's the opposite of what you're thinking. It's exactly because of telephone game that the KJV is the strongest both because of the older English, which isn't even really the the archaic Englyshe, like anyone with a middle school education that can read Shakespeare should be able to read the KJV, but also again, how it was composed and with so much authority and legitimacy and thorough study makes it the English language's best.

no, I just understand proper grammar and syntax. I know about the "canon of scripture".... there is no such thing as a Bible canon...

and, judging from all your snide, snippy comments, you're kind of an arrogant little :poop:, aren't you?

What does the "Bible canon" say about pride and arrogance, since you are one of the 144,000 "elect" ?

Oh I see we're playing the stupid games where we pretend like scripture and the Bible is not exact same thing. I don't think you really know what pride or arrogance is since the smugness just got wiped off your face, praise Jesus.

wrong again, scooter.....

Almost exclusively, Bible scholars agree that the KJV is certainly a very good word for word translation, but that there are more recent translations that are actually better.

I can read and understand Shakespeare nicely, but I would not like to exclusively read in that old English, anymore than I would want to read nothing but Gaelic...
I prefer to read in the contemporary English language.... not because I CAN'T read Shakespeare, but because I do not prefer it.

You need to deep dive on the formation of the NT cannon and the OT Hebrew-->Greek-->English., What you will find is that there are approx. 5000 what are termed "errors" however any stray mark or comment on the page is counted as an "error" Only 5% of those actually affect the wording (spelling, word order). and none of the 5% alter the theological or direct meaning of the text itself. We know this beyond any shadow of a doubt. The KJV in particular is a great translation as is the NASB and the ESV. These are word for wod translations except for where there isnt a direct word for word or we have a more meaningful word.

Almost no one in textual criticism or ancient languages disputes the English translation. it is rock solid. The telephone game is not how we got the bible. It is at worst a copy of a copy. and because we have church fathers and other quoting the original autograph in the first century, we do know that the translations are very accurate and not lost or changed.

You are preaching to the choir, slick.....

I did not say we got the CANON (see how that is spelled) of scripture through the telephone game.... I was saying that IF we had to translate Greek, et al, into Shakespearean English, then we had to translate Shakespearean English into contemporary English, that would be stupid..... like playing the telephone game.... ( I wish I didn't have to explain this, but, here we are)

I firmly believe that we have several truly accurate translations of the Word available to us... you mentioned two of my favorites. I believe that all MAINSTREAM translations are accurate enough to teach people about God, and His plans for us.

The KJV is not one of my favorites, because it is in archaic English. If it was all I had, I would be perfectly happy, and secure in the knowledge that it is pretty much as good as any of the good ones. It's just more difficult to read, especially for newer believers...

Lol scooter, I love it, I'm gonna accept that one, that's hilarious that made me actually literally chuckle irl! Well old coot you're wrong again, the KJV is regarded as clearer and more direct and the authority that went into it is far greater than any other English translation.

Well like I said, to a whole other person, it's not Onlyism, it is preference. All the main English translations of the canon are essentially valid. Read them all if you can.

Ok great... I personally like the KJV for deep dives, however for general long readings I like the NKJV although it seems to have some issues. I can't remember the verse but the if you know the Mat (King), Mark (servant), Luke (Human), John (Diety) themes of the gospels there is a place where the word servant is used instead of Son of Man or something and this seems to detract from the themeatic of the gospel... but otherwise NKJV is easy to read fast. I have yet to actually get a NASB but All the notable scholars i research like it.

That would take some pretty strong swiping. That guy of hornets can almost match me for smugness.

Almost.

Anyway I can pretty much guarantee there is nothing you can say that would wipe it off his face. Because, considering the audience to whom he is talking, that smugness is completely justified.
