Welcome to CC, Haddie! :)

I have many thoughts about my children, who are just on the cusp of becoming adults. Some off the top of my head...

Pray for them, love them, encourage them, model Christ for them, and give them a firm push out of the nest. Do your part to maintain a healthy relationship with them, and offer your input on their lives without imposing. Don't expect them to obey you; actually, don't "expect" anything of them at all. Let them be adults, as you are.

I have no children. But that's a very vague question. You may want to be more clear about what you're asking.

Any thoughts out there about your adult children?

Yes, don't enable them to avoid the responsibilities of life by providing them with everything they need to live a comfortable life while avoiding all work including doing a few basic things to help out around the house. At the very least not picking up after themselves should not be tolerated. No loud music, drugs, alcohol, sex, etc. Get off the couch. Get on with your own life. Get real.

Pr 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

Too late to worry now if you failed when they were children.

For the cause of Christ
Roger

If they are adults and still children, you probably did something wrong :)..

Parents good intentions to give their children everything, often creates a child who can't grow-up.

Teach them the value of a dollar, what work is, to be reliable, dependable, and most of all, how to persevere when things get tough.. Odds are, if your teenager is playing video games in the basement when your out mowing the lawn, emptying the trash, etc, that same teenager will still be living in your basement in his 30's.... jmo

Meh. My dad still calls us boys or girls. I try not to giggle, since his oldest "boy" is 63, bigger than he is, (and they're both shrinking with age), and takes care of him. It's still funny though.

We're all somebody's children. It's just a matter of perspective on if we're called children.

oh yes, He never calls us His 'adults',:), He always calls us His 'children'... -
His 'begotten-betrothed-beloved'...:D:o

Well no children as far as you know, you may know some children who see you as more of their father than their own blood.
It's kind of like how I sometimes complain how i am not allowed to have my own cat where I live but even though our cat sherbert is my little sisters because she bought him he chose me not her

No matter their ages, they'll always be my babies.

What used to be direct orders now becomes advise.

You once took care of them, and they listened to you. But those roles will be reversed. They will care for you in your old age, and tell you where to go and what to do, yet keeping the respect due to a parent.

In an elder qualification, you are to train up a child in the way he should go. 'Child' in this context means still growing taller- not a DNA adult. (Faithful children are children). If you did that, the qualification is met. You do not have to wait until he is old to see if it worked, because you'll be dead by then, and unable to be an elder during those years. The Bible says the son is not guilty of the sins of the father, and the father is not guilty of the sins of the son. If your adult child rebels against God, it is not your fault, if you trained him right. He has a mind of his own, and you training him does not magically take away his own freewill, and act like he's a robot running on the program you downloaded into him. If that were the case, then I make the decision for everyone to obey God and be saved. No, they are their own person with their own decisions to make.

My heart broke when my son was 7 and skinned his knee. But at 27, when he gets hurt at work, it breaks my heart even more because I can't be there to protect him, I can't run and fix his boo-boos, and I loved him more with each passing day, so I love him even more at 27 then 7- which hurts that much more to see him hurt. I can only imagine Mary's pain, as a mother, seeing Jesus on the cross.

My son is now a man, and I am a woman, therefore, son or not, I give way, respect, and honor due to men by women. If he says "Take off your shoes in my house" guess what, my shoes are coming off. He never has, but I would if he did because of my respect to God. My son has great respect for me as his parent, and doesn't take advantage of the ways he could be over me cause he's a man. And likewise, I have great respect for him, and don't take advantage of the honor due to a parent.

Seeing him as an adult, that he is a hardworking man, who is an amazing cook, and awesome at creating music, I wish I could go back in time and give him more experience or knowledge in those areas.

It breaks my heart when parents say they get to have a break from their kids, or they will finally be leaving the nest. I always loved having my kids around, and sad when I don't get to see them. And I am so extremely thankful that my adult son has me over often because he enjoys having me around too.

And to see my child have his own children, and love and parent them, oh, my cup overflows.

On post #13 I was trying to edit before my time ran out. I did not mean to say 'DNA' or other typos.
