When that which is perfect is come is not scripture telling us tongues no longer exist or any other gift for that matter. Scripture tells us truth, but you have lost sight of what the meaning is; however your defense of your cessationism using this scripture is a silly but unfortunate mechanism that only those who use it, appreciate it for what they mistakenly assume is an easy explanation for their personal opinions. It is a failure as proof of anything other than a lazy defense of cessationism taught by those who are equally lazy and prefer just their own understanding.

Well there is the proof of your cessationism. I actually don't care whether or not you believe in what Paul writes concerning the gifts of the Spirit. There are far too many with an attitude like yours that think they know everything and they are the final word on everything.

What is actually failing, is your comprehension. That, and the fact you are way off topic but I noticed you have a habit of inserting yourself into threads and then trying to change the direction of it.
That’s interesting! When you point your finger, 3 are pointing right back at you. Lol

It figures you would lash out and deny this verse, since it doesn’t fit your belief. You are no better than the rest that wrest Scripture.

I'm here defending Jesus from a "False Prophet" before all these people reading & watching, and possibly believing you rather than scripture.

Nonsense. You are an angry man who is defending his beliefs and you are afraid that maybe, just maybe, White is as bad as she presents when the facts are examined.

YOU started this lying thread ~>" Adventists, Ellen G. White, failed prophecies and scripture"

Amen but posts about White are backed up by sources including her own, so maybe stop the crisis management when there is no crisis other than, apparently, your own.

As for the rest of your rant......

You have no power or authority over anyone in this forum and your prophet comparisons are as bizzare as one would expect from a die hard SDA worshipper. Go be angry somewhere else.

Honey, you are the one lashing out. I honestly do not understand why some people here think they have to insult others because their opinions are questionned. Go for a nice walk or have some milk and cookies.

@WiselyWoven mentioned something about the root...

One of the earliest dreams I still recall from childhood was of a Frankenstein monster. It was running up a stairway into the sky and it was following me up it.... and to this day, I have no idea how I might've even been introduced to any sort of Frankenstein monster at that time, place, or age...

Well, anyway, since then, I've become familiar enough to recognize the story and the famous Dr. exclaiming, "I need mo' powah!" and the jolt of electricity that would follow which Igor obediently oblige his master, in order to get and keep the monster "...Alive!"

All these denominations, there are none that I haven't had sufficient interest at least one time or another in enough that I offered a fair look into. And I have come to the conclusion that they, all, really do want to believe, in that 'extra specialness' of whatever thing of it is so that, even while finding no sign of a pulse in the thing, they refuse to give up as long as enough of them want it to 'Live! Dammit, live!!" For whatever reason if not only for the 'fun' of playing God.

Anyway, the townsfolk went after the monster, I mean, they were a bit dull with their pitchforks and such, but wasn't it only the intelligence of the monster that ultimately went after the Dr.?

You are so right. (funny dream though...) The focus on being special (they are but not in the way they think) and the desire for power but also power over others, is always on the menu. They also like a side of authority over others and nothing better than creating a fearful atmosphere to control those 'others'.

The 'monster' created does, in the end, go after them. (spiritual force behind the illusion)

Great. Y'all should have a great time in White's Adventist 'heaven' . But there will be competition with all the other cults so you may not have first place.

The Bible foretells exactly nothing about the SDA. Y'all are having a moment 🥴

Next you will tell us that John the Baptist actually baptized an SDA 'pioneer' and then foretold the birth of the great smitten in the brain White.

The lunacy of this cult is entertaining at the least and sending people to hell at the worst.
So please inform us which church we should go to in order to go to heaven? I believe God has his people all over the world in many different denominations. It is accepting Jesus as our savior that will get us there and confessing our sins and asking for forgiveness. Big shocker there will be SDA people saved in heaven along with whatever church you go to. I bet we all will be keeping the 10 commandments to. God did give us the 10 I mean he thought it was important enough to write them in stone with his own finger. I'm sure the rules will still apply in heaven.

So you cannot defend your cessationism, so you go ballistic and start sounding less than intelligent. Tell you what, I'll do you a favor and ignore you. I prefer intelligent conversations, including actual disagreements. However, it's obvious you just get angry and spit.

Do you ever read or study the Bible? Salvation is not dependant on any church but what you do with God's offer of salvation through His Son. There are no commandments in heaven. There will be a new heaven and a new earth...that's in scripture so go look it up. You really start to sound kind of, sorry, but silly.

Post all you want. Rave and rant. No difference to me or anyone else who believes scripture.

The commandments are not the gospel. You are not going to get any satisfaction in this thread with your SDA beliefs but feel free to keep trying.

Original op

The record of false 'prophecies' from EG White is both extensive and alarming, considering the adherents who still follow her, while ignoring the record of error and insisting that she was both accurate and a true 'prophet'.

Adventists, having experienced the false prophecy of William Miller who stated Jesus would return Oct. 22, 1844, (aka The Great Disappointment) retroactively corrected the error of Miller by stating that Miller was over eager in his words and what actually took
place 10/22/1844, was the 'start' of Jesus final 'work', meaning the cleansing in the heavenly sanctuary which would actually lead up to
the 2nd coming.

The backlash after the failed expectations of so many, resulted in angry critcism and even, in some cases, violence from the public. It seems
that many followers had given up their possessions in consideration of the prophecied date of Jesus return and now they were left empty handed both spiritually and physically.

The Millerites had to deal with their own shattered expectations, as well as considerable criticism and even violence from the public. Many followers had given up their possessions in expectation of Christ's return. A Millerite church was burned in NY and 2 others were vandalized
while a mob in Illinois attacked the Millerite congregation with clubs and knive while yet another group, in Toronto, Canada, was tarred and feathered. In some other cases in Canada, Millerites were shot at.

Many Milleries gave up their beliefs but, during this time, as stated above, excues were made, corrections given and several new sects sprang up, apparently unwilling to admit error or the possibility they had been falling both a false teacher and a false prophet in the person of William Miller.

Due to the active and insistent amount of posts made in another thread here regarding the ongoing claims of White's adherents or SDA participants, along with the denials of scripture that indicate error or the skipping over of questions and so on by the same adherents, it seems it would be more helpful to discuss the problems of White's teachings in a different atmosphere where proof of the false prophecies and what scripture actually states, could be discussed. No prejudice intended, but open discussion is needed which cannot be had if certain people take scripture out of context to change the meaning or, just ignore scripture altogether.

Here is one false prophecy of White:

White contends the Sabbath is still in effect and Sunday is not honored by God as day to honor Him

What scripture actually says:

The New Testament clearly shows Christians worshiping together on Sunday, not Saturday and Romans 14 teaches that the individual must be convinced in their own mind of the day they choose to observe.

Wow, if you call that anger you really do have a discernment problem.

It really doesn’t matter what verses I give, you’re just going to negate them with illogical, man-made dogma.

Ellen White said an angel appeared to her to encourage her to present her visions etc. It is of no little significance, that all of the false so called 'ministries' today have been visited by what they call an angel. YET we are warned in scripture that if anyone at all, including spiritual beings, present a gospel other than the one in scripture, they are to be rejected!

But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be under a curse!
Gal. 1:8

This apparition made itself known to White in the month of Dec. 1844. (Ellen G. White: The Early Years: 1827-1862, vol. 1, p. 63)

At this point, White referred to herself as a 'messenger of God'. Consult (Life Sketches of Ellen G. White, p. 71) for further info on her portraying herself in the presence of angels...plural...and the physical sensations often experienced by people who are being seduced by lying teaching spirits. Consult 'War on the Saints', by Jesse Pen Lewis, a history of satanic deception in Christianity and the conflict between good and evil.

These SDA's will argue with you until the stars burn themselves out. I applaud you for trying to reason with them using sound scripture.

This is a wake-up call for what is being done to us as we speak. The enemy has weaponized his spirituality; we need to weaponize ours.

I believe God has his people all over the world in many different denominations. It is accepting Jesus as our savior that will get us there and confessing our sins and asking for forgiveness.
Of course. Even a broken clock is right twice a day, but that does not justify pursuing a relationship with a denomination.

denominate = to give a name to (e.g. SDA). The name game is a declension, a once-removed step down, from the Real Thing. Names are employed to appropriate authority. You name your children; they don't name you. Naming is an act of authority, as Adam took his dominion and named all the animals. And who can name the name of God?

Thus the power of denominating is manifest. Avoid denominations and stay on The Rock.

And how do you see that happening?

I totally dismiss any and all SDA debates at this point. If you have seen the 10 commandments are the covenant, you might get an understanding as to why so I don't care about that. They dismiss both scripture and factual accounts so that seems to be their problem

This is a Bible Discussion Forum, not a Debate Forum, so I try to keep it real, keep it in the Holy Bible.

I totally dismiss any and all SDA debates at this point.
And it's not a debate, as the documented evidence is substantial re: EGW's failed prophecies, plagiarism and scripture twisting.

If you have seen the 10 commandments are the covenant,
...the 10 commandments were the covenant (the old covenant), a shadow of things to come. (Col. 2:17)

But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises. (Heb. 8:6)

you might get an understanding as to why so I don't care about that.
Thanks, I get that.

And how do you see [the weaponization of our spirituality] happening?
WOW! That is the elephant in the room. The question is related to: Why don't we see the casting out of devils? We're talking about the current state of affairs where "evangelical Christianity" is powerless to deal effectively with devils - denominational spirits or others.

Largely, folks would rather pander to the flesh and argue, Frankenstein-style, instead of dealing with the root of the problem. And that root is, a lack or absence of sanctification.

I was wondering how you were going to respond to that question.

Sanctification is ongoing (as I am sure you know). Now demons on the other hand, (only one devil) should be dealt with as needed. I've seen demons cast out and that is the position Christ took. Jesus has authority over the spiritual world and in His name, we should, as He said, cast out demons. There have been many books printed about 'spiritual warfare' with all kinds of unbiblical ideas as to how to go about it, such as making demons leave cities etc.

My understanding is that each Christian should understand how to deal with the spiritual world but people think you need a
'deliverance ministry' when scripture does not describe a ministry of specialization to deal with these things. We do have spiritual gifts that are given by God through His Spirit and help us deal with these things.

Paul states in II Corinthians that believers are not ignorant of the devils devices. That is not true anymore.

Ok, I wasn't certain. I haven't been over to that thread - don't make me go there!

Yeah, it's a big bite.

Sanctification is ongoing (as I am sure you know).
Yes, it's a process that will continue until we physically check out of this hell hole.

Now demons on the other hand, (only one devil) should be dealt with as needed.
God's kingdom is a kingdom of order, so I try to let everything be done that way. When helping my clients, I take notes so I don't get ahead of myself. In the deliverance ministry, Satan loves confusion; it's his go-to.

I've seen demons cast out and that is the position Christ took. Jesus has authority over the spiritual world and in His name, we should, as He said, cast out demons.
Yes. He gave us the authority. However, the "churches" do not want you, the born again believer, to be moving in that Authority but to be acting under "the church's" authority. God hates that - the nicolaitans and all the rest...

There have been many books printed about 'spiritual warfare' with all kinds of unbiblical ideas as to how to go about it, such as making demons leave cities etc.
The deceptions, distractions, are endless, which we would expect from the most subtle beast of the field. This is why claims to denominational affiliations have ZERO PLACE in a believer's life, in the life of one who wants to be used effectively for the furtherance of the kingdom of God Almighty.

It grieves my Spirit to bear witness to the shameless promotion of mere PEOPLE and their DENOMINATIONS in these threads. These ppl are powerless, neutered for Christ!

Sorry, I'm ranting a bit, as I am angry. I truly hate Satan...

"Deliverance ministry" is just another label, something convenient for power-hungry people or denom's to appropriate for their own mammon-ish agenda.

We do have spiritual gifts that are given by God through His Spirit and help us deal with these things.
Indeed, but we have been so brow-beaten by establishment "religion" that we do not know our own calling(s). Back to the sanctification process...

Good post.

Denominations are factions within the Lord's kingdom.

Those causing division will pay a heavy price.
