It was all going to go so well, wasn't it? After all, the insurance companies didn't mind if the overwhelming majority of people signing up were sick. Sure they would lose a lot of money, but the government promised to bail them out...the first year. Now they are looking at the pool of people who are mostly sick and want all sorts of services. The numbers do not add up to make a profit. So, since they aren't a government agency that doesn't worry about losing money, they are pulling out of the exchanges. Aetna lost over $00 billion last year and others like United and Humana also lost huge amounts, and decided to walk away.
That 30 million uninsured you would like to keep quoting as now having insurance, was never achieved. They got a fraction of that number insured and caused close to 10 million others with insurance to get dumped off their plans. It's a disaster. It was never revenue neutral. You and I were lied to. Here's what you don't seem to care about, they later admitted they lied. They get away with it and laugh in your face and you embrace them and thank them.
Robbing money out of Medicare to expand Medicaid is like taking water out of the deep end of the pool and pouring it into the shallow end, and then telling people you made the pool deeper and fuller. You might believe it is true, but you are being deceived. trying to tell an anecdotal story about you and a person you know who are satisfied is pointless because overall, the numbers are not adding up and the insurance providers are going broke. Maybe this is over your head, but I can pass along further information that explains it quite well, if you like.
