When I'm not drawing or studying Japanese, I like playing video games and I've lately been playing Holdfast and Big Walk.
I also have been thinking of replaying Gravity Circuit and the Halo series.

Some play the game for community. Their friends are online so they get online and play multiplayer games with their friends.

Some play the game for challenge, for a feeling of beating the system and overcoming obstacles. Bloodborne, Dark Souls, Elden Ring, etc...

Personally I play the game for a good story. I'll play any game that has one - Strategy RPGs, action RPGs, first person shooters, even flight sims and racing, as long as they have good stories. Playing a game with a good story is like reading a book that you can walk around in.

Yes, I game. Not as often as I used to but I enjoy retro games and collecting.
 
That sounds like a pretty fun mix of games. Holdfast and Big Walk offer very different experiences, so I can see why they’d be nice choices when you want a break from drawing or studying Japanese. netherSX2 apk could also be worth looking into if you enjoy exploring different ways to play older games. Gravity Circuit is also a great pick for a replay, especially if you enjoy fast paced platformers. And going back through the Halo series sounds like a solid way to spend some gaming time.

I also love Generation Zero which is a first person shooter looter game set in the late 1980s where you shoot robots who've taken over Sweden. If you even want to play it coop, let me know! I've played the Borderlands games 1, 2 and Tiny Tina's Wonderlands. I haven't played them in quite a while, but you can let me know too if you want to play them coop.

Every read, and if so, enjoyed, those books where every once in a while it has you make a choice that will take you to a different section of the book where you will get a different story continuation based on your choices?

We call them choose-your-own-adventure books.

Or basically any video game from Bethesda. :p

I have a boring story about those!!!!

In 6th grade our teacher had us go sit somewhere in the room and read. I paired up with Peter and he read a 'choose-your-own-adventure' book to me and I made my choices. Our teacher came by and chastised us for Peter reading to me, saying I should read it myself. I've never read a book since 😢...

No, just kidding, I never read a Choose-Your-Own-Adv 'physical book' since. But a few years later my brother brought home a floppy with a text game that was essentially a Choose-Your-Own reader game. I read if for a few minutes, but the story didn't really interest me. The end.

Digital is a better format for that than paper for obvious reasons. And as you say, a fair portion of video games are Choose-Your-Own-Adv now.

I just write my own adventures. I'm not that interested in reading other peoples that do it for me. But yea I can see the novelty of the 'pick-a-path' books and video games. It makes you feel you have some sort of agency over your imagination if you can't or don't have the ability to dream it up yourself.
 
I was at the night market the other week and they had a stall that was like a video game pop-up and it was driving simulation. You had to pay to pretend to drive, but you don't actually go anywhere.
I'm like I drive in real life I wouldn't pay to pretend to drive!

I suppose it's just for kids.

Adult video gamers to me are just big kids who never grew out them. Sorry! Plus it's sooo expensive to game. When I was growing up, a video game cartridge (before they had online, or discs or whatever it is) and console were hundreds of dollars a pop. Now all the tech kit you'd need if you were seriously into it includes special chairs and screens and headsets and what not. And you need like a total dark room to do it in.

I'm like aren't you gonna get epilepsy from all the flashing lights? Plus ADHD? Oh not to mention the totally annoying electronic 'music' and sound effects..
