the sda church was mostly invented by a lady named ellen white in the mid-1800's .

she had a fall, hit here head and claimed an angel appeared to her and gave her instructions ,
then she and i think 2 other men started the sda church.
Wow.... so far off base.... please check your facts.

An unfortunate incident occurred when White was nine years old. While walking home from school, a classmate threw a rock at White, hitting her in the face and knocking her unconscious for three weeks.
I'm not a betting man, but sometimes I wish I were. If I were a betting man I would find somebody to bet with on whether gb9 will argue this point with somebody who actually goes to that church, or let it pass. :sneaky:

anyone who goes to that church and subscribes to that belief system is following a false prophet, so i am not sure what good talking to them would do,

I don't know.... you may have lost the bet on how she got hurt, but when someone has made up their mind that someone is a false prophet even when they never claimed to be a prophet well you might have won that side of the bet.

It's kind of like me being a Democrat... I don't believe everything they are about either but I do believe in Bible and the gospel of Jesus and the salvation He offers.

You would think that I would hate Mrs. White because of some who crammed her teachings at me but I don't hate the presenters.... I grew up and read a few of the books myself and read about who she was as a person and found that she was a person like myself in that she wanted to be like Jesus and help spread the gospel. She wrote a lot about health and such and some of this was shoved in my face which I didn't like too much as a kid...my parents didn't do this they were both gone by the time I was 12 but different care givers for me as a child being raised.

The Bible is the book to follow the teachings of and those teachings are all about Jesus so He is the one to be followed not Mrs. White or any other human. We humans tend to fall in the ditch too much...

It's easy to talk to them. I don't talk to them like "a member of a group of people that you just can't talk to." I talk to them like individuals.

I'm a Pentecostal minister, so I DEFINITELY think SDA is wrong. By extension I think JesusLives is making a mistake going to an SDA church. But... (Here's the secret!) I don't beat her over the head with it every time I talk to her! (Shocking, yes?) I talk about whatever the topic is - chocolate or music or food or computers or whatever we happen to be discussing.

Since the topic of this thread is in fact SDA, I will mention I believe SDA is wrong, and I have no problem mentioning that. But I don't have to insult them to make the point that they are wrong. I also don't have to dig deep into what SDA churches believe to find more things I can prove them wrong about. I also don't have to grab any anti-SDA rumors I might have heard in the past, that might be totally wrong, to try to prove they are wrong.

It's really very easy to talk to them. Just talk to them like people.

In my opinion, there is NO way to say which day is the Sabbath. There is no way to count back to the creation to find the day of rest.
Neither doctrines of man nor opinions are able to trump faith.

Your final analysis is spot on. There are believers in all denominations, but not one denomination is correct; only Jesus Yeshua is correct. He has made us all children of Abraham. Abraham says a lot more than simply our f Patriarch. God bless you always.
Thank you, most kind of you, and the same to you as well...(y)

What if the Lord allows them to believe that way yet He uses them to further His plan?
The Lord allowed Adolf Hitler and Josef Stalin to rise to power. Also Mao, Kim Jong Il, Robert Mugabe, Idi Amin and a plethora of other murderous dictators. That did not make them right. SDA is a deeply religious, legalistic and surprisingly influential organisation. It is founded on false doctrines. It is possible that some SDA's are saved, but there is no way that SDA is of any value to God's kingdom.

I dont know...many of the SDAs I met were often trying to tell me and everyone else that wasnt SDA that they werent christian enough!

Not sure what Bible they read...but I do know that they use books in addition to the Bible (Ellen Whites writings)

I expect some raised in SDA are sincere enough and probably dont know anything else, but if they read the Bible they might find discrepancies between what their church doctrine teaches and scripture.

I would think if one soul is saved for the kingdom of God that should be of some value.

You must be born again even to see the kingdom of God. Many Christians are saved but are not kingdom Christians. They live mostly for themselves. A lot of Christians are more of a hindrance than a help.

God makes these decisions. You are wasting your time.

I thought that I had found a Church to attend. For me, the LDS are not suitable, though I tried.
The new potential Church is in an old warehouse and I had decided to try it. Then I saw that it was SDA. That ended that. They don't even use a real Bible. I checked with this forum to see if I had been too harsh.
Do they believe the Son of God came into existence before creation?
I tried to look at their website--- had to change my computer clock by two hours and the site will not get past the error page block.
