Praus, I think I know what he's praying for - It is protection for us from people carrying guns who issue death threats.

A "Right" cannot be be issued a license or fee for to be turned into a sudden privilege. lest it be deemed unconstitutional and your right has just been stripped away.
In order for a right to become a privilege one must consent to their relinquishing said right.

When Christ said to sell ones cloak to buy a sword it was for a reason, not for a conversation piece nor for a decorative garment exchange.

Now Christs example of non violence was partially due to the fact that he made a very large impact on the world population.
Had he made any violent move whatsoever that would have given anybody reason to go ahead and try and get rid of him sooner than what already happened.

If Christ would have went around with a sword AT THE SAME TIME telling everyone to follow him, then the motive for people to follow would have been strictly for fear of retribution.

So by stating his capabilities but not using all his available resources, he was also showing mercy.

But most of us regular people are not trying to make a worldly impact for people to follow us.
Many who possess a firearm have one because in the event of grave bodily harm, for instance if one is attacked by someone satanically influenced or even possessed... the one defending themselves would send the message they want to be left alone.

Because both of those require hatred and planned motive in the heart.
Those who do exercise their right to bear a firearm, honestly dont wish to have to use it.
They don't go looking for a fight with it.
They have it just in case for emergency.
There are some who have been handed over to satan for the destruction of their flesh.
Satan will actually convince a person to go around breaking into houses, stealing peoples possessions, robbing them with physical harm and worse... fully well knowing they will continue to do so until....

Yes, such a messed up in the head person will force the police or anyone else in the capacity of carrying a firearm to execute them.

Now honestly...we of course seek every avenue possible before having to resort to physical methods.
Confrontation, negotiation, force if necessary, sometimes it escalates.
And sometimes deadly force is needed simply because you see someone breaking your door down with a weapon in hand and intent on immobilizing anyone who gets in their way.
Such a person will not be able to be negotiated with, likely because they are on some mind altering drug...translation, that person is the one mentally unstable.
Does such a person who's heartbeat is 120 BPM and who's brain is cooking at 160 degrees fahrenheit register the words
"drop the weapon, or I'll call the police?"

We bear Christ's sword which is his word and which free's us.
We also note that the sword is indicative of an actual weapon of self-defense.
Jesus didnt compare his word to a baseball bat, a stone, a nerf ball.

I will repeat, many of us including myself, fully understand that younger (newer) Christians as well as people raised in a different culture, disagree with others simply because Jesus himself did not carry a weapon or fight back.
Not yet...ya see Jesus will have his turn in the end in case nobodies read of the outcome of certain blasphemers...he's saving it, giving people a chance to turn to him.
There is a time for peace and a time for war as we have noted so many of Gods followers who bear the sword.
Those who bear the sword do no do so for nothing.

It is about freedom.
