The Hiding Place by Corrie Ten Boom
Chasing The Dragon by Jackie Pullinger
Appointment In Jerusalem by Lydia Prince
The Cross and the Switchblade by David Wilkerson
Not Without My Daughter by Betty Mahmoody

I think I'm just going to list favorite Christian authors:

Mark Buchannan
Phillip Yancey
George Macdonald (for those who like really old school stuff and don't mind working through archaic language, diary of an old soul is probably my favorite devotional ever)
And Liz Curtis Higgs Scottish lowlands series was really good, parallelling the story of Jacob and his wives from the Bible
Also pretty much anything I've read by CS lewis has been great

i've been reading a lot of his books in the last couple years, since a friend recommended him to me. i haven't read that one yet, though. in the middle of 'beautiful thoughts' at the moment :)

wow too many to name the best...church librarian here. Since everyone has a testimony everyone has the potential to write a book about their own journey of a life in Christ.

Will have to think of a top ten. Jackie Pullinger, Corrie Ten Boom and David Wilkerson would be on my list though.

these authors come to mind

Liz Curtis Higgs
Aw Tozer
Brother Yun
Francine Rivers
Priscilla Shirer
Christina Noble

I have also read "The Hiding Place" and 'The Cross and the Switchblade".

In my list, I would put;
"The Hiding Place"
"Walking with God through Pain and Suffering" Timothy Keller
"Good news for Anxious Christians" Phillip Cary
"The meaning of Marriage" Tim Keller
And the "For you" study books for different books of the Bible. Various authors.

I have seen the movie "Not without my Daughter" but not read the book. How do they compare? Is the movie accurate?

Next to the Bible, this is the best Christian book I’ve read. Followed by “Ecclesiastical History” by Eusebius.

I am hoping to watch the movie, thank you for reminding me😊I'm glad I read the book first though; it was amazing, it made me cry a few times and sometimes I couldn't turn the page fast enough lol; it had a big impact on me👌

I used to read about 30-50 books a year when I rode a bus to work. Now it's more like 10-15 at most. Rather than echoing some good ones that others have mentioned, I'll just add a few that have stood out:

Living by the Book (Howard and William Hendricks)
Wild At Heart (and every other book by John Eldredge and Stasi Eldredge)
The Screwtape Letters (C.S. Lewis)
The Knowledge of the Holy (A.W. Tozer)
Boundaries (Henry Cloud and John Townsend)
Tactics (Greg Koukl)

There are hundreds more that I'm looking forward to reading. :)

Paradise Restored and The Days of Vengeance, both by David Chilton, rise to the top of my list.

I'm not a big book reader (other than the Bible), but Wild at Heart by John Eldredge was a good one. Currently reading The Teleios Man by Larry Titus. Not too far in, but so far so good.

I just finished reading CS Lewis' 'The Lion The Witch and the Wardrobe' to my 6 year old yesterday, and reading it again inspired me to order 'Mere Christianity' which should be in any day now. I recently read 'Slaying Giants, Walking on Water and Loving the Bible Again' which was excellent....it opened my eyes to the mind blowing depth of scripture, there are so many layers.

Thorn in My Heart
For some reason this reminded me of the Eurhythmics' song Thorn In My Side.

… which leads me on a whole lateral-thinking odyssey which I shall not put in print, lest I offend everyone.
