i'm not sure why inquiring about the nature of crumpets and remarking about folding origami elicits such a response.
i'm guessing you find it abominable that we're engaged in 'idle chatter' in the Bible Discussion section of the forum?
it's true that this thread has all the character of a "Miscellaneous" section forum, and we're not currently puffing back and forth over doctrine, but that is exactly the OP's intent, as i understood, and i wanted to honor him in it.
for your sake though fred, let me try to bring my comments around to bear on scriptural principles.
in re: crumpets
test all things, prove all things. in all your getting, get understanding.
i am (or was, until a couple brothers and sisters informed me) ignorant of crumpets. i sought understanding, as the Teacher said i should. is this not good?
in re: origami
if your not familiar, though i have hardly ever known anyone who is not - origami is an art form of taking a plain, flat, usually (always, to purists) square piece of ordinary paper and by means of clever folding and manipulation, transforming it into a recognizable likeness of another thing or into a usable implement like a cup or a box.
when we were without knowledge of God, we are like this plain, unfolded bit of paper, formless and useless in a sense, and useful for little else (without our form being first changed) but for transmitting a message, if we were to be written upon -- this, the adversary would do with us, putting on us wicked sayings and vain messages.
but the Lord takes us, reveals Himself to us through us and by us - we submit to Him and His grace, and allow Him to form us into an instrument for His purpose, a reflection of His own light, that the world, seeing the transformation of us, can be shown the glory and power of what He is able to do, and glorify Him.
so origami can in this way be used as a witnessing tool - and it is also a universal language, needing no speech to communicate at all, and the simplest of materials to perform. if you commit some designs to your heart, you have then a thing you can teach to a poor child of any people, whether you can speak their language or not, and that child can then occupy himself with wonder for all their lives, turning bits of what would be trash into art. the scrap of paper that was rejected can become an eagle, a porpoise, a turtle. . . anything.
better now? can i get you something imaginary to drink or snack on?![]()

I haven't hit a point where I said something out of...not love, but the workplace is becoming an increasingly difficult place for me to be the better man.Blain said:my first conversation is about handling a situation out of love. We are Christians and we claim to be love however every now and then we slip up and emotions tend to run wild and we say things we later regret. did this happen to you today? were in a debate and lost your cool for a minute? or were you stuck in traffic and maybe go to frustrated and said or thought things you know were not nice? maybe you are at work and there is a person who really gets to ya and you maybe were not as nice as you could be.
I like bagels with lots of cream cheese. Really I think I just like the cream cheese and the bagels are just a handy place to put it. This is still a cafe', isn't it?

Christian Café mascot is advertising coffee toofer one price.......
We are not having a party just a chat....with loved ones and friends....don't you want to be our friend? We know Jesus loves us and you, but I bet Jesus would sit down and enjoy the company of fellow brethren and He might even teach us lovingly a story that had meaning for our lives. Like how to make friends and enjoy one another's company. You are welcome here if you would just lower you voice a little all the shouting is hurting my head.....and taking my mind off of loving the way I am suppose to....thanks for your cooperation. Now is there anything else I could get you to make you more comfortable?
Ya know how people are always saying what would Jesus do? I think JL gave us a pretty good example (see above)
