I am reading John Calvin's The Institutes of Christian Religion right now.... for the 4th time.
Same here! This is only my first time through. I'm really not sure why I was so scared of it for so many years.
I also just finished C. S. Lewis' Space Trilogy.
After reading it three other times, it is getting kind of natural to comprehend the way he wrote. But, I still have to admit that I don't understand how he comes to some of his conclusions.... and none of what I have read has yet persuaded me that "Calvinism" is the proper theology to follow.
BTW, it always takes me at least a full month to get through it. LOL
I really don't understand my dread. I've wanted to read it for years and always thought it would be difficult, but I'm finding the style much easier to comprehend than I had thought I would.
If you can get it into MS WORD format, the WORD program will read it aloud to you. I have it on my computer, so I do that some of the time.... reading along while Word also reads it to me.

Also, you can turn on the facility of the computer to read anything (everything) to you. That is found under CONTROL PANEL/EASE of ACCESS. You may have to dig into DISPLAY OPTIONS, or some such worded thing like that, but it can be done. There are some really fascinating options available in there.
I gotta say like with politics I'm in the middle of Calvinism and Arminianism. I see bits of both to be truthful but there just two extreme ideals for the same question and I feel both go to far in there own way.
I experience much the same thing in just about all theologies and denominations.
I'm partway through A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini, and just finished 2 Thessalonians on my way through the entire Bible this year.

I read the Bible in a year too. Currently in Daniel, 2 Peter, and there is always a Psalm and Proverb. I’m addicted.
Lol this story is honestly one of my favorite books its volume 2 1/4 theres also a volume 4 1/4 and that's it lol. It's not so much parodying actual Goosebump books it is Stines style of writing. Honestly I wish there where more of these I actually like them better than Goosebumps lol
Theres a series called Strange Matters it was one of the many homages to Goosebumps but it was for a more intelligent audience. Honestly some of them are unpredictable it's got a Tim Burton quality to it. (Honestly some of the concepts are rather advanced for the level of readers it was aimed at) I highly suggest them
I'm personally a big fan. Unless its gorey and full death and such. It takes the fun out of it and it becomes to serious and dark. Goosebumps and similar style books dont really have that.
The only one that briefly scared where Night of the Living Dummy ones. I got over it though and enjoyed it afterwards.
