Found an interesting article and have posted a new op

I think it may well present the flip side of this op

Is Your Religion Toxic?

That was a great article and so true. I liked these parts especially as they reveal the real "spirit" that is behind some things.

Quote:

Have you been infected? You can take your own pH test by examining these eight characteristics of a religious spirit.

1) A religious spirit views God as a cold, harsh, distant taskmaster rather than an approachable, loving Father. When we base our relationship with God on our ability to perform spiritual duties, we deny the power of grace. God does not love us because we pray, read our Bibles, attend church or witness, yet millions of Christians think God is mad if they don’t perform these and other duties perfectly. As a result they struggle to find true intimacy with Jesus.

2) A religious spirit places emphasis on doing outward things to show others that God accepts him. We deceive ourselves into believing that we can win God’s approval through a religious dress code, certain spiritual disciplines, particular music styles or even doctrinal positions.

3) A religious spirit develops traditions and formulas to accomplish spiritual goals. We trust in our liturgies, denominational policies or man-made programs to obtain results that only God alone can give.

4) A religious spirit becomes joyless, cynical and hypercritical. This can turn a home or a church completely sour. Then, whenever genuine joy and love are expressed, this becomes a threat to those who have lost the simplicity of true faith.

5) A religious spirit becomes prideful and isolated, thinking that his righteousness is special and that he cannot associate with other believers who have different standards. Churches that allow these attitudes become elitist—and dangerously vulnerable to deception or cult-like practices.

6) A religious spirit develops a harsh, judgmental attitude toward sinners, yet those who ingest this poison typically struggle with sinful habits that they cannot admit to anyone else. Religious people rarely interact with nonbelievers because they don’t want their own superior morals to be tainted by them.

7) A religious spirit rejects progressive revelation and refuses to embrace change. This is why many churches become irrelevant to society. They become so focused on what God did 50 years ago that they become stuck in a time warp—and cannot move forward when the Holy Spirit begins to speak in new ways. When religious groups refuse to shift with God’s new directives, they become “old wineskins” and God must find more flexible vessels that are willing to implement His changes.

8) A religious spirit persecutes those who disagree with his self-righteous views and becomes angry whenever the message of grace threatens to undermine his religiosity. An angry religious person will use gossip and slander to assassinate other peoples’ character and may even use violence to prove his point. Jesus, in fact, warned His disciples: “There will even come a time when anyone who kills you will think he’s doing God a favor” John 16:2

If the poison of religion has seeped into your life, ask Him today to pour a fresh understanding of His grace into your barren spirit.

Exodus 32:33 (NASB)
[SUP]33 [/SUP] The LORD said to Moses, "Whoever has sinned against Me, I will blot him out of My book.

Speaking of being blotted out of the book of Life, there is a warning to those who would add to, or take away from God's words. This taking away from God's written words is displayed in those who try to misrepresent and take away words and meanings in order to uphold a false doctrine belief. The warnings on this adding to and taking away is shown over and again in scripture.....

Deuteronomy 4:2
Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you.

Deuteronomy 12:32
What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it.

Proverbs 30:5-6

[SUP]5 [/SUP]Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.

[SUP]6 [/SUP]Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.

Revelation 22:18-19

[SUP]18 [/SUP]For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:

[SUP]19 [/SUP]And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

just so everyone knows : the o.p. believes In sinless perfectionism, and has said that he does not deliberately sin, sometimes for days. he did not say that here, that I saw, but he has in the past.

2nd point- he shows up, posts some verses, then challenges anyone to " refute " what he posted. but, Scripture does not refute Scripture. it complements , not contradicts.

Sorry, that is not proof text that a believer cannot commit the unpardonable sin. Truth is, that is how things are implied and twisted in order to support the foundational lie I mentioned in the OP. :)
Pr 26:7 The legs of the lame are not equal: so is a parable in the mouth of fools.

sometimes people fall into the error of believing they have a special calling...they may believe that God has spoken to them and handed out some special Old Testament prophet type anointing

I've seen a few people who suffered from that and frankly, this op reminds of that

when there is a constant barrage of condemnation towards others, while presenting themselves as sinless, it becomes painfully obvious that there is deception that has been believed

the Bible is clear that God views all the same...no one is sinless or better

the Bible is plain that we are liars if we say we have no sin, so where a person would get the belief they go without sinning for even one day, cannot be from God

As it is written, "Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated."

Romans 9:13 (ESV2011, MBM)

as it is written

3Give ear and come to me;listen, that you may live.I will make an everlasting covenant with you,my faithful love promised to David.

I listened and I live

I have an everlasting covenant with God my Father

He has chosen me to be in Him...I am His and He is mine

listen...my name is engraved on the palm of His hands!

Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me. Isaiah 49:16

28 I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish. No one can take them out of my hand.

Hmmm. I think the belief comes from believing the very words of God. :)

1 John 3:9
Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

1 John 5:18
We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.

Again, the words of God trump the preconceived notions and false beliefs of carnally minded men/women. :)

Just so everyone knows gb9 constantly bears false witness, and when constantly asked to prove his false accusations he, like his fellow false accusers never provide any proof where I have said the things they suggest, like in the above quote.

So once again, I will give him a chance to quote my own words where I said I believe in "sinless perfectionism." When he does not provide the proof, then everyone will know (again) he is nothing more than a liar and a false accuser. :)

Phewww, you had me scared for a moment there. Then I remembered what God had said before that. Thank God I am a child of God and have Jesus as my Advocate with the Father......

"My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous" 1 John 2:1

And here is another false accuser and reprobate who likes to cause trouble in these forums, just so everyone knows. :)

So then you admit that you still commit sin? Guess that means you are not born of God, eh??

When one spreads a false doctrine that is not based entirely on the good solid foundation of God’s Word of Truth, ( which is our Rock and Chief corner stone), then certain verses need be ignored or rejected entirely. In order for the lie to prosper the Truth must be misrepresented, twisted, and even flat out rejected in some cases. I have found there is one single misrepresentation, or false doctrine belief that causes so many of its followers to reject, misrepresent, twist, and even outright deny the very words of God and warnings in many parts of scripture in order to uphold this foundational error on which the whole of the false doctrine is built upon.

This one single misrepresentation of scripture that has caused so many persons to be led astray, and has also caused them to want to believe many more lies in order to prop up and uphold the original misrepresentation of scripture is this…… “All future sins are already forgiven no matter what one does.” This false doctrine belief is the cornerstone belief of Universalism, OSAS doctrine, and many of the false grace doctrines we see being widely accepted today. The simple reason why it is so widely accepted by the world is because the whole world lies in wickedness. And so the notion, and the doctrine that you can sin and still be saved is a very popular one for those who are still of the world and living to the lusts of the flesh.

This false doctrine sets no condition on the person’s part to abide in the faith, which is to abide in the very words of God and doctrine of Jesus Christ. This single misrepresentation of scripture has also caused many to also believe there is no need for confession of sin, no need for repentance of and from sin, no need to forgive others of sin in order to be forgiven of God, no need for an obedient walk of faith, and also no need to stop sinning.

So why would one think all the other parts and warnings in scripture do not apply to them? Because in the minds of its followers “all future sins are already forgiven” so why bother with the rest? This single false belief also rejects any notion that one can even fall away from the faith, even though the warnings in scripture are numerous. Not to mention all the warnings about walking in the flesh and not ceasing from sin. This false belief also rejects this verse here…Matthew 12:32 “And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.

And so if all future sins are already forgiven with no possible way to fall away from the faith, then why the need for all the many warnings in scripture, and why a need for a judgement, for hell and a lake of fire? Makes no sense at all, if indeed all future sins are already forgiven right? Truth is, there is no verse in scripture that says “all future sins are already forgiven.”
But there are those that specifically speak of past sins being forgiven.

Romans 3:25 “Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;”

2 Peter 1:1-10 “
Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:[SUP]2 [/SUP]Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,

[SUP]3 [/SUP]According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:[SUP]4 [/SUP]Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
[SUP]5 [/SUP]And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;[SUP]6 [/SUP]And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;[SUP]7 [/SUP]And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
[SUP]8 [/SUP]For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.[SUP]9 [/SUP]But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.[SUP]10 [/SUP]Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:”

Now, don’t get me wrong. God can and will forgive you all your past sins, and even future sins, but there are some “ifs” or conditions that have be met by the believer if one sins after coming to Christ and being washed. If one hardens their hearts to all those warnings and conditions of repenting of sin, and walking in willful ongoing rebellion and wickedness then there remains no more sacrifice for their sins.

Hebrews 10:26
“For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
Yuch! That's all I have to say about this post.
