Cats or dogs?

Which do you prefer to have as a pet?

Personally, I prefer cats. I've always loved them since I was a kid. There's just something so alluring about them to me.

I prefer an animal that doesn't have to be fed, walked, taken to the vet, cared for when I'm away from home, one who doesn't poop, pee or vomit, one who doesn't give you attitude and doesn't wake you up early either by jumping into bed with you or licking you, one who doesn't have to be trained, talked to, involved in everything, (picturing our cat's "great help" with wrapping presents or "decorating" the Christmas tree), and mostly? One who won't die.

So, to me, this is the perfect pet --

I love cats AND dogs AND horses for different reasons.
I love training dogs.
I love the affection of cats......but I hate cat litter boxes.
I love riding and training horses.....but I am too old to train now.

I'm an animal person. I have an I indoor cat and for finches, the cool thing about finches is that they ma and nest and lay eggs in capitity, I started with only two and had seven at one time. Other birds will too but require more space a bigger nesting areas.
And there's outdoor animals that I feed, dogs, cats, oppusums, raccoons and this one bird that would tap on my window if there wasn't any seed out. One time I thought about keeping a baby rattlesnake I found, but I figured it would do better outside where it could bite me after it grows up. Lol. I kept millipiedes for a short time too.

Mainly I'm a dog person but have to say that cats are enjoyable, often amusing, and less work to maintain. We have two cats, 2 years old named Tango and Sugar. They're both very affectionate and amusing. Good animals.

Yes we are, We met on the site and a few months later got married in Las Vegas. We will be celebrating our 3rd wedding anniversary on November 27. This site has truly been a blessing for us.

She looks just like my aunt, similar expression plus she always wore aprons.

But hopefully not purple!

She has the most wonderful silky softest fur.

I have had both and loved them all, but the older I get the easier cats are to take care of and we don't have a fenced in yard which I prefer to have with a dog.

Our kitties Tango and Sugar are inside cats and both are healthy Tango is male and very muscle bound and Sugar is female and thin and petite. Love them both and they are very entertaining.

Tango is the orange tabby and Sugar the flame point Siamese.

I prefer dogs. I can't get inside a cat's head and if I'm honest it freaks me out . Also, I like the effort and bonding that goes along with raising dogs. And I've found them to be more predictable in a good way. And the list goes on. I've been intimately familiar with both, and conclude a well-bred dog is 100 times better than a cat, but an ill-behaved dog is awful.

I have a friend and her mother who live together have different views.
My friend LOVES her cats and her mom LOVES dogs.
They have BOTH types critters in their home, and they love them dearly, but each PREFERS a different type of critter.

I like BOTH dogs and cats.
I find dogs are more "needy" than cats but when I go out of state I HAVE to take the dog or put them in a kennel, and the cat is quite comfortable staying at home for up to 2 weeks when I am gone. I just put out 2 litter boxes and a full bag of cat food and of course water.
Even with the cat being fine, I do not think, at my age, I would want another cat just because of the cat litter box.
I have had this cat for almost 14 years and, Lord willing, he will be with me for many years to come.
I am still able to train dogs {obedience/rally/agility/therapy/and hopefully soon, Barn Hunt}, so I guess it I will just stick to dogs now.
I still love HORSES.....but now mostly "from afar".

Outdoors kitties ftw! No litter box, they are always hunting vermin in the yard and they are still there when you need a kitty to pet.

I use to have two outdoor cats. They were mother and daughter and were tabby cats.

They brought me a lot of joy and I loved them to death. Had them for a while too. Then, at some point, these coyotes came into our area and ate them both, along with just about every other outdoor cat in our neighborhood.
