You are so right We cannot serve two masters. It opens the gates of Hell and confuses innocent children. I cannot imagine Jesus is happy watching this from Heaven.
Speaking of Halloween, I couldn't believe how early the trick or treaters were out trick or treating this year! I saw them walking through my neighborhood as early as 5 pm and by 7 pm they were nowhere to be found! Can't handle the cold? Safety issues? 
When I was a kid, people usually started trick or treating around the time it got dark and would be out until 10-10:30 pm.

I didn't think I'd ever miss those days of giving out candy, but I do. They all go to the local outdoor mall now since all the stores started giving out candy. I can understand why since it's safer than candy from homes of people you don't know, but it used to be fun seeing all the kids walking around the neighborhood in their costumes. It seems that in a lot of areas the popularity of door to door trick or treating is dwindling since lots of schools, youth organizations, churches, and some large malls are throwing big events on Halloween that are both indoors and considered to be safer than begging for candy from random strangers.
In reality most of the Halloween paranoia about safety is very much unfounded and based on just a couple of random events years ago. You are considerably more likely to die in a commercial aircraft crash than to get tainted candy on Halloween. As much hype is thrown around on the news about perverts kidnapping kids on Halloween, it has never happened anywhere in the US.

Then again - it should be interesting to note that - "back in the day" - at least where I came from - every place you went to in your own neighborhood was someone you knew and (reasonably) trusted not to give you any "bad" candy.
People knew their neighbors a whole lot better back then...

I think now days it is more of a safety issue for the kids... When we went people weren't stealing children and putting razor blades in the candy... so a lot of them either go to planned safe places/parties or go early... go back home to their safe haven.
Is that the trick. Sorry I dont get the trick or treat part. Or is that treat meant to be the the trick?
Wouldnt that teach people NOT to go round dressed up like lazarus?
All I know is that when I was a kid it was fun to go from house to house and get candy and people enjoyed seeing what the kids were dressed up as. I didn't think of satan or anything evil I was a kid out for the candy. Or when a little older it was a good time to have a party and bob for apples and do fall things like play in leaves. Halloween was fun for me and I have good memories. I am glad people were pretty decent to kids back then.
What if nobody gave you any did you play a trick on them? I saw this american movie where the children would throw flour at people and light bonfires. It looked innocent but I can imagine if they were doing it unsupervised it would get out of hand if someone took it the wrong way. You only need one bad person to spoil a whole lot of good ones.
My auntries house roof was burned when a rogue firework landed on it. This was before skyrockets were banned. Even if you are taking precautions there will be so many others that are careless. The SPCA report so many cases of animal abuse and advise that during guy fawkes pets are kept inside.
I would say nowadays if you want to go round begging for candy do it outside at the mall with the homeless people. Why dont supermarkets just say to children if you dress up while your parents are shopping we will give you free candy. Then you wont have to bother the neighbours who have other things to do that evening. Most shops are open late. If the object is just to get candy. Why not just ask your parents.
