It isn't a requirement, and this is why a person can receive Christ while on the side of Mt. Everest, perhaps even moments before they die. And it is the same for the person in the middle of the desert. The Lord grants His Grace, Mercy, and Compassion upon anyone He so chooses, and He can exercise this Grace where ever we are. This Grace is given independently of drinking grape juice.
Your goal is not to partake in communion, but it is to receive the Spiritual Circumcision of Christ. Once you have this Curse removed from your thinking process, Spiritual things become more clear and obvious, such as the Eunuch stating, "Look! There is some water. Why shouldn't I be baptized?"
BTW: I'm not indicating anything about your spiritual condition . . . I haven't a clue as to your relationship with Christ. That said, I hope you are well!

Jesus said, "Whenever you do this...".
Some people take that to mean each Passover, so they only take communion once a year. Some people take that to mean, "Whenever you meet" and the take communion every Sunday (or whenever the church meets). Some people take it to mean, "As often as you choose" and they take communion once a month.
As with many issues, there is freedom for the believer. I suggest you participate each time your local church offers it.

Jesus said as often as we would......to remember Him.
There IS NO prescribed Biblical Ruling
The early Church did it every day!
Acts 2v46,47: "So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved."
I like my first reply more, but then there are these passages that are more of a direct answer to the original question. It seems that a person should receive communion when they "remember" or think of their Master, their God.
Luke 22:19 NKJV - 19 And He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, "This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me."
1 Corinthians 11:24 NKJV - 24 and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, "Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me."

As long as we are walking with the Lord. Paul said,
For I have receivedof the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said,Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. 1Cor.11:23-25
Paul goes on to say how we show the Lords death. So when we love others no matter how badly they treat us, as Christians we are showing how our Lords body was broken and his blood spilled, his life poured out for sinners.
I have never been convinced that the Lord wants us to substitute a small waver and tiny cup of wine for celebrating that Christ's blood is the blood shed for our sins. I am sure our communion services of this wafer and wine are pleasing to the Lord, but I don't think the Lord wants us to stop the celebration He suggests. We are to stop Jewish rituals, but this is celebrating Christ. To celebrate Christ is Christian, not Jewish.
1Co 11:27 Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.
1Co 11:28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.
1Co 11:29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.
This sounds to me that if you are going to partake of the communion you had better have your sins repented, and not be living in sin at the time.
For what else would it mean to drink it unworthily unless it means if we do not act Christlike at the time do not partake of the communion.
It seems like they eat and drink unworthily not discerning the Lord's body that He takes away sins so it is wrong to live in sin and partake of the communion.
