I understand that but....God fore knew. Either that is true or it isn't and I think it matters a lot as to whether Jesus could have sinned. It just wasn't in the cards.
Can you jam the memory of a Windows Surface 2 into a Windows 386? I think (thus just opinion, not gospel) when Jesus arrived on earth he no longer held all knowledge. He wasn't up to the processing skills he has in the person of "Son in the Godhead." What he knew had to be reduced, simply because the human brain can't hold all the divine being can hold. Because of that, I think, Jesus may have lost his foreknow in the transition. I honestly wouldn't gamble on that hand, if your cards are of higher value, but that's how I thought it out. I think my hand is a full house, so, not bad, but can be beaten. lol) Since it's not gospel, I'm still open to change my mind on this position. (Warning though. I've had four hours of sleep, not even in a row, in the last 36 hours, so trying to make me think hard will require easy understanding or a miracle. lol)

Then you will have to take that up with the Hebrew writer. He is the one who by inspiration applies it to Jesus, not Solomon or David.
Probably a dumb question, but my excuse today is I have insomnia. Why not go with the majority-rules decision that Hebrew was written by Apollo? (Paul's buddy, not the god. lol) It might not have been written by him, but it's a lot quicker to type "Apollo" than type "the Hebrew Writer." And, although it may or may not be accurate, it's kind of like calling me a Calvinist. I don't follow Calvin, so wouldn't identify myself as a Calvinist, except it works to get most folks a general idea of what I believe and how.

Just easier to go with Apollo. At least as far as finger use goes. lol

No. ..........
Ha! Reformed to Reformed -- which "could" do you mean? Was he able to sin? Could he have chosen to sin by an act of his will? Or the first intuition when seeing that question -- Jesus never sinned even once? See? Not as simple as No, even though I liked the quick and easy answer. lol

Q: Could Jesus have sinned?

A: No. Christ could not have sinned. Christ did not join with a human soul. Christ merely chose to limit His Omniscience but He was still 100% God and a part of the Godhead. God is not capable of doing evil. This is Bible Basics 101.
Honest question (as in this isn't another one of those "you're wrong" moments.) Where did you get that "joined with a human soul" thingy? I've never heard that before.

Well, I tend to lean heavily toward Apollos as the material author of Hebrews but since I cannot prove this I generally use the term "the Hebrew writer."

Honest. I didn't make it up. There are people out there who believe Jesus had a human soul in addition to Him being God. There is actually a theological word for it. But striving to know different names of false beliefs is not my goal in life. Anyways, this is a wrong teaching that has already been refuted with Scripture. But the only way a being can potentially sin is if they are not God or they have some part in them that can over-rule God's perfect nature (Which is not possible because God is perfect and good under any circumstance).

Hmm. That is very interesting as I have never heard that before, but I have no doubt its truth. I just can't believe how some people believe because I can't even comprehend it. Thanks for sharing that. Are there certain cult groups in particular that believe that way?

You really should be a little more careful about the way you talk about Christ
lest the hapless day arrives when you are forced to eat your words.

Hebrews 4:15

king James version(kjv)

15.For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

“I have made a covenant with my chosen, I have sworn unto David my servant, Thy seed

-verse says all generations, did God lie to David and not give the eternals throne to Soloman

The belief that Christ had a unique separate human nature (or human soul) that is separate from His divine soul as God is called Nestorianism.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nestorianism
What is Nestorianism? Who were the Nestorians?

I believe it to be unBiblical. Christ was 100% God in His eternal being as Spirit. The flesh was just a shell. It was a temple. For Jesus said so Himself. Jesus merely suppressed part of His divine attribute of Omnscience (To have all knowledge) and relied on the Father and the Spirit in these matters until His mission was complete. However, that does not mean Christ did not use His divine power, though. We learn that Christ does have power during His Earthly ministry of His own as the Son of God. For Jesus said He could quicken just as the Father can quicken. Jesus also said He would raise His temple (body) in the resurrection. Jesus also had power to forgive sins and paid the price for all mankind's sins so as to offer the free gift of salvation. Jesus held all things together by the Word of His power when he purged us of our sins on the cross. Jesus also said, where two or more are gathered in my name, there I am amidst them. Jesus had power and He used it, but He did not showboat His power. The miracles (works) He did were done by the Father. The Spirit also worked in His life, too (For example: He was taught the Scriptures as a child by the Spirit). But Jesus was 100% God in nature. His human body was merely a body. There was no human soul. And because God cannot be tempted, any temptations in the flesh by the body of Adam would have rolled right off Him like water.

In regards to Hebrews 4:15: Words in the Greek can have different meanings just like in the English language. In this case, the Greek word for the English word "tempt" can be defined as "tested." This can also be seen in Modern Translations, the KJV Dictionary, and by looking up the Etymology or origin of the English word "tempt."

https://www.biblegateway.com/verse/en/Hebrews 4:15
FREE BIBLE DICTIONARY T
Online Etymology Dictionary
https://www.blueletterbible.org/lang/Lexicon/Lexicon.cfm?strongs=G3985&t=KJV

In other words, if you read the passage as saying "tested" instead of "tempted" as some Modern Translations render it, then the passage becomes a little clearer as to what it is saying to us.

I hope this helps.
And May God bless you.

I covered this in an earlier post.

Could Jesus have sinned? The bible says he was tempted in all points yet without sin (Heb.4.15) The bible says he lived a sinless. Was it an impossibility for him to sin or could he have sinned given that he was man? Some believe that Jesus could have sinned as he was MAN while others hold the view that he could not have sinned given he was GOD.
Repeatedly, Jesus said he came not to do his Will but the Will of his father (Jn 5.19, 8.28). Does Jesus have a will of his own n so if HE followed his own way would of sinned?

What's your thoughts? :confused::confused::confused:

The true father of a child is always determined by the DNA of the Father. Jesus' Father is perfect and without fault, and the DNA of Jesus is the same as God Almighty. "Hallowed be thy name." If Jesus sinned the DNA wouldn't match, but it does.

Jason,

Thank You for the info it was sure appreciated. It makes me sick to my stomach how things can be taken so far out of context when it comes to the Bible, but what a lot of people just do not understand is that you can't add or take away anything out of it or God will add to them the curses out of the book (Revelation 22:18-19) I mean, there is serious penalty towards those who twist the Scriptures. We must treat God's Word for what it is, the very word of the LIVING GOD who is worthy to praised forever.

You are most welcome. Oh, and yes, I agree. The Bible has a double check system that prevents us from adding or taking away from it. Each truth or teaching in Scripture can be backed up by interwoven thread of varioius verses through out the Bible. Context (Looking at the surrounding words in a chapter for a verse) also plays an important role, as well. But ultimately I believe we are guided into all truth within the Scriptures by the Spirit. For we are to call upon the Lord to ask help in understanding His Word. We are to trust His Word versus say what is popular or what is taught by men (Which I am sure you would agree).

Anyways, peace, and blessings be unto you.
And please be well.

Yes, I so very much agree with your post. Thank you for the kind words as well, God has been blessing me and I know he isn't finished yet as the enemy has been trying his very best to discourage me, but it is not going to work. I declare these words in the name of Jesus and I pray that God will continue to bless you and give you deeper understanding of your studies as we gain understanding each time we open the Word of God and that is truly amazing.

Again, thank you so much and may God pour out blessings over you

Also, sometimes we come into reading the Bible with preconceived ideas or notions. For example: In the beginning of my study of God’s Word: I did not know about the teaching of the Kenosis (That Christ suppressed certain powers that He had naturally as God). I did not know that He suppressed His Omniscience (i.e. to have all knowledge) so as to be like a man (So as to be our substitute). I thought Christ had unrestricted use of His divine attribute of Omniscience but He just pretended to not know certain things. But in time, as I studied, I learned according to Scripture that this was not the case.

Now, some believe the Kenosis teaches that He completely emptied Himself of all divine attributes; But that is not the case, either (as I pointed out in one of my recent posts). He humbled himself as a servant (Philippians 2:6-9).
