What special and unique ways have you seen Saturnalia celebrated?

The children of God start out by learning simple knowledge but eventually, they will learn the whole Truth but only if they keep listening to the voice of God and obey his commandments.

I've never seen anyone celebrating Saturnalia.

But I've seen lots of people celebrate the birth of the Savior Christ with beloved friends and family.

From my earliest memory I have commemorated the birth of our Savior on December 25. Never have I recognized anything pagan associated with that day. It could be on July 4th and it would have nothing to do with the Declaration of Independence.

Days that are special for me may not be for you, and the same holds true for days for you, but as we are taught, as long as they are observed with a clear conscience in the sight of Yahweh (God) no man may fault another in honesty.

You want to think Saturnalia, that is your weak faith. I never recognize anything except a day to honor teh physical birth of Jesus Christ...it could be any date on a calendar.

my brother, when I was younger, even for most of my adult life, I also celebrated the December 25 Lie.

there comes a time in the learning process when we have to step away from the lies and tricks of the enemy, in my opinion.

he has commanded us to NOT worship Him in the same ways the pagans do.
with respect, dm

these are not pleasant topics.
I can imagine this thread will get out of hand quickly.
I don't enjoy being the bearer of bad news,
(nor the darts that will be thrown)
but,
It is a conversation we need to have.

I think you are worrying about the wrong topics, you should concentrate more on NT revelations, for example that the Christ is God.

trofimus!! good morning. have not heard from you in a while. hope you are doing okay.

about the topic, yes, I knew it would not be pleasing to a lot of people.

This is a hornet's nest waiting to be disturbed and I've lost count of the amount of posts on this I have seen which only lead to arguments and discord. God knows who celebrates CHRISTmas and the reasons why they do. It is none of anyone else's business. My conscience is clear. Merry Christmas!

:) Yes, I am doing well. I hope you too.

About the topic - I think the date of celebrating the birth of Christ is not important at all, why should be?

maybe we look at it wrong.
when someone questions what we do, and why/when/how etc,
maybe we don't have to view it as just an attack to harm us.
maybe we need to consider what is being said.
no one likes to think they have error in their form or worship.
I understand that.

You really do have a problem with Christians who are not Judaisers. What you believe is entirely up to you but must you ram it down everyone else's throats? I celebrate Christ on 25 December, not Saturn your thread insinuates that we are all Pagans. If that is what you believe why are you on this site?

My education is quite well-rounded. The French would call me an "honest man." There comes a time in the understanding from the Word for a brother to stop scoffing at others for having the gift of understanding which inludes commemorating the birth of Yeshua, Jesus, any moment he believes most appropriate, especially in view of the reality that no man knows with any accuracy what day on the calendar corresponds with the commemoration of this event.

Do not be destroyed by what is falsely called knowledge. My Father knows my heart, not any man, not even a brother. This privilege and capability is reserved for God, alone.

You must not acvcuse others of being ignorant of what they do, of perhaps practicing satanism, or worse simply because you have caught on to a theme that makes a circle enclosing doubt.

I will continue as I am led by the Lord, as each of us must do. It may not always coincide with actions here in this age, but the end is the same, eternity with our Master.

Maybe we do.

I only see it as a positive - to take a pagan festival and turn it around for good. When Christians turn it back reminding folks of the origins of that date they only play into the hands of the enemy.

Is there a better victory of Christianity over paganism, than when the day of roman god is turned to the day of Christ and people do not even remember who Saturn was at all?

Until somebody comes and makes this name remembered again, after 1700 years.

Bear in mind our faith is waht Jesus teaches, the faith of Abraham.

Having said this, I understand what you are saying, and I cannot fault you for it. At the same time we must never neglect our roots in the Old Testament, for all the first believers after Jesus ascended to the Right Hand of Power, learned from the Tanakh... They were and are saved.

Also Abraham was given the Gospel long before anyone else.

I have observed that only Christian Cults make a big issue out of Christmas and Easter. A classic example is the Jehovah Witnesses. To me that says a lot about this thread.

Too much tipsy pudding! I love it.......... Again it is clear what you have posted, and I believe you. Of course as I have always confessed, I do not believe in any denominational practice that was not practiced by our Lord, which is none mentioned under that umbrella called Christianity. It is not under Judaism either,, simply the faith of Abraham.

my friends,
if we make up our own holy days, or borrow them from pagans, we are doing what God told us not to do. Aaron was one of the first to try this. He pulled a bull out of the fire and called it YHVH. So, for the next several centuries, they had to put literal bulls back in the fire.

I don't mean this as an attack on any person, but on the institution of Dec25th.

We can accuse Judaizers of promoting rituals that are not in the Scriptures, but what about when we do the same thing?

Well I for myself do not celebrate Easter, nor Christmas,... I cannot have a clear conscience going to church celebrating these days. After knowing the history and the practices of these pegan holidays it (for me) is disgusting to celebrate Christ then.
I take God very seriously when he tells us not to follow pegan rituals and practices (including christmas trees and coloured eggs)
like said, especially because of the history.
Its on the people to follow God or to follow man. I think its a topic to talk about in love with one another without attacks. I will not damn anyone for celebrating those days. I just think people have to know the history before they throw it into the trash as ''Ill just do it anyways, pegan or not''.
