Why does denominational religion teach the building is the church. When you are actually the church.
Jesus stated upon you Peter I build my church, never said go build vatican's or Temple's, yes meeting places to discuss the glory of the Heavenly Father and Son.

The reason being is, they can sell themselves for wealth and power in the name Of GOD and His Christ. This is why there is a name for them, it's called Religious Prostitutes.

Hello HL, and welcome to CC...

Have you any actual evidence that any denominational religion teaches such? I agree with your assertion, but your question looks more like an assumption. Is it possible that the term "church" is simply used colloquially and without consideration to refer to the building, and not actually taught to mean that?

Hello, HLMoore, and welcome to CC. =)

Your main question being:
Why does denominational religion teach the building is the church. When you are actually the church.
Consider the following:

The SAME GREEK WORD for "church" is used in another context to refer to [basically] "a mob of people [not saved people]"--G1577 ekklesia -

Acts 19 (3x) - note the word "assembly" -

Acts 19:32 N-NFS
GRK: γὰρ ἡ ἐκκλησία συνκεχυμένη καὶ
NAS: thing and some another, for the assembly was in confusion
KJV: for the assembly was
INT: indeed the church confused and

Acts 19:39 N-DFS
GRK: τῇ ἐννόμῳ ἐκκλησίᾳ ἐπιλυθήσεται
NAS: in the lawful assembly.
KJV: in a lawful assembly.
INT: the lawful assembly it will be solved

Acts 19:41 N-AFS
GRK: ἀπέλυσεν τὴν ἐκκλησίαν
NAS: this he dismissed the assembly.
KJV: spoken, he dismissed the assembly.
INT: he dismissed the assembly

... read the context of these verses (vv.21-41) and consider... do you believe that where the word "ekklesia / assembly [G1577]" is used in this context, that the same word would be used if, say, verse 29's phrases like "the whole city was filled with confusion" and "they rushed with one accord into the theatre" were not the SETTING of such a word (describing the people--"ekklesia / assembly"), like, say, if Bill was over at McDonalds, and Bob was over at the car parts store, and Betsy was over at her Aunt Freda's, instead? Or, is the word used to be referring to the "assembly" (meaning, the gathering of the people to "one purpose" at a specific location... in THIS context [not being a "Christian/saved persons" kind of setting], here--I mean, would it have been called [in this case] "ekklesia / assembly [G1577]" if each person involved had actually been in those VARIOUS locations I named, instead??)

Sure we are each "members" of "the Church WHICH IS HIS BODY," even when we are at home (sometimes even "home alone" :D ), but I still believe there is something to be said for the meaning of the word being conveyed by the word "ekklesia / assembly / church [G1577]" (gathering to "one purpose," even at a specific location TOGETHER, "AS ONE"--and it's not like the ENTIRE "Church WHICH IS HIS BODY" who are alive at any given time can "meet" ALL together in ONE LOCATION, for that would require long-distance travel for most of them/us :D ).

And, whereas God worked through Israel in the OT times (who was to, in essence, show the rest of the world God's "address," so to speak), He presently works through "the Church WHICH IS HIS BODY" (while it is still present on the earth... until "our Rapture").

Thoughts?

hi!
couple background questions so i can try to figure out how to answer your question..

  • how many 'denominationals' have you asked the question, 'is the church a people or a building' ?
  • have you never heard a 'non-denominational' mention the place they meet and refer to it as a 'church' ?
  • have you ever told someone, anyone, 'the church isn't a building it's the body of believers' and had them disagree?
ok thanks!

I'm with post on this..... you have a flawed premise. I don't know of any denomination that teaches the building is the church. Most denominations I've familiar with have a pretty good understanding of what the church is.

I always thought when constantine created the Roman Catholic Church based on the model of the Roman government the notion you had to get to heaven through them was created when the Bible is clear ALL authority was given to Christ and by Him we are saved, not an institution.

So, who are these "Religious Prostitutes" you are speaking of....................???

Could you name any particular ones YOU have personally seen "prostitute" themselves?

Also.................... ??? God and His Christ? You DO KNOW that Jesus Christ IS GOD?

Why would Jesus or father need a building when humans were created in his glory for service.
Remember when praying go into your closet don't stand on the streets for all to see and be a hypocrite.
Besides when will the so-called building church, explain to everyone who Melchizedek priesthood is and who Melchizedek was before becoming the breath of the father in the garden of Eden.
Denominational church's lie to their congratulations for money.

Yes, a church is not brick and mortar, it is the community of baptized believers meeting in that locality

Baptism is total submerging under water, representation of death unto life.
Sprinkles mean nothing with so called holy water, been blessed by man not god

Just like during the period of Christ.
Why do you think the temple was destroyed in Jerusalem, Christ resurrected in 3 days under a knew priesthood, Arron's/Moses Leviticus priesthood ended.

Respectfully, you didn't even begin to answer my question. You also misused an apostrophe; the plural of "church" is "churches".
