I was in a relationship for 5 years and it was not at all what I thought a relationship would be. I assumed we would spend all of our time laughing, cuddled up, joking around, being cute in a romantic comedy kind of way. That isn't the case, my friend. Like most women our age, we really have no idea of what a true relationship consists of, and if that magic mirror was shattered, we wouldn't crave relationships nearly has badly as we do now.
Relationships are such hard work. It's not glamorous a lot of times. Compromises. Arguments. Checking in with that person and considering them in every. decision. you. make. They become a part of your every day life. Which for some, if you're ready and understand just how difficult it is to keep a long term relationship, it's not so bad.
Don't feel you need to be in a relationship just because your friends are. Spend this time getting to know and love yourself. Discover who you are. Explore. Believe me, you are going to have YEARS of being in a relationship down the road. Now is the time to focus on- simply being you.
It seems to me like you're looking for someone to fill a void for you, like you feel empty without it. Let me tell you from personal experience, that hole never goes away, even if you find someone. Once you grab them, then you'll wonder if they care, if they're cheating, if you're good enough. And it's all because instead of peeking inside your heart to understand why you feel this void and fixing that, you relied on someone else to fill it. It can actually hurt healthy relationships because you have unresolved issues and you're projecting them into your relationship.
If that guy hasn't come along yet, there is a reason. There is something that God wants you to work on; whether it be a spiritual walk, something emotionally, whatever that may be- that's what you need to pray for. When you're ready, God will send you someone. He knows your heart and it's clear you have so much love to give. Wait for him to deliver, and you'll be glad you did.
