No I don't need to lighten up at all. You literally spoke evil into my life by telling me that I am garrantied to backside back into drunkenness if I take a drink.
"But, I guarantee that if you took a drink, YOU would fall right back into drunkenness." You see that word in all caps? You were speaking to me. Those were your words not mine and as far as I can see that is speaking evil into my life and it wasn't any kind of discussion. It was an accusation or even better a declaration and I called it like I see it. I would never ever tell you or anyone else that they were garranteed to backslide for any reason even if I thought they would. It is simply the wrong way to minister to any believer. What you said was an insult not only to me but also towards the work that God has done in me and so many others like me and especially towards God. Only an evil heart would guarantee the backslide of another believer. And now your trying to gloss it over with some sort of garbage talk. I know all about the heroin addiction as I used to shoot myself up every day while I was in Europe and I am telling you that all addictions are the same physically, mentally and spiritually, they are a bondage beyond our ability to control ourselves once we are consumed by the addiction. But God can and does deliver us completely from our bondage's.
What you should do is admit your fault and apologize not to me but to any one who read your post and to God. Insulting the work of God
within a believer by speaking a fall or backslide from thier walk with God is the same as insulting God. The Thousand dollar man doesn't have a thing to do with this conversation but he did have one thing in common with you. He spoke with Satan whispering in his ear.
How's the air way up there on that high horse of yours?

You will get no apology from me, because I said nothing against you. If you don't like it, well.... too bad.
Calling me "satan" is in no way a "Christian" thing to do, so perhaps you should look inward...
You are single-handedly reminding me why I took a break from here a year or so ago. I can only handle so much "bug-eyed crazy" before I have to step away.

Why not? Christ called Peter Satan.
Mar 8:32 And he spake that saying openly. And Peter took him, and began to rebuke him.
Mar 8:33 But when he had turned about and looked on his disciples, he rebuked Peter, saying, Get thee behind me, Satan: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but the things that be of men.

Christ saw Satan speaking through Peter and called it what it was. Christ is my example. There is no cutting slack when it comes to calling Satan out. All Peter did was disagree with Christ but Christ could see that Satan was speaking through Peter. The same applies to you.
Good you need to take another break. As long as you are going to claim that God doesn't have the power to completely deliver folks from bondages or speak evil or failure into their lives you will never get along with the other believers.

“When an impure spirit comes out of a person, it goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it. Then it says, ‘I will return to the house I left.’ When it arrives, it finds the house swept clean and put in order. Then it goes and takes seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there. And the final condition of that person is worse than the first.” <- The words of Jesus.

I seem to get along fine with most others here.... at least I think I do. You seem to be the problem. Perhaps you should go back and re-read what I said about Jesus delivering us from addiction..... WITHOUT your persecution complex.

.... and JESUS rebuked Satan..... you ain't Jesus.

I used to drink quite a bit, and one day I just could not drink any more. Now I can have a beer but that only once ever two years or so, and it does not seem like it did. I wonder why?? Of course our Father took care of that. I do cook with rum, brandy or sweet wines, but even that rarely. Is there something wrong with me.

?

Praise God, He is worthy, amen.

Not at all. What you have stated in this post doesn't appear to be anything close to over indulging.

Does God heal addictions? If not does He view them as a sin that is out of a persons control or do you go to hell for having addictions?
When a person becomes Christian he is made new, he is born again, his nature is changed by God.

Ezekiel 36:25-26 Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you. A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.

He changes the nature, gives us the ability to put sin to death, to win these battles with the flesh, until we put off the flesh.

Yes and no really. You see sometimes he does heal and sometimes he doesn't as to why sometimes he doesn't I think it is because we all have things we are strong and weak in and if we are in having addictions that may be why he doesn't heal them because if we are to weak to overcome it then we seek his strength all the more.

in fact sometmes we are enever healed of them just so that we learn to constantly lean on hm sometmes we go through good seasons and sometmes we don't but because we have this thorn in our side we daily learn and grow in him we pray for his strength and are all the more grateful for his grace. Even bwhen I was saved I was never healed of my addiction to coffee but my relationship with God was never hindered by it because even though my body was addicted to caffeine my heart was addicted to him.

if anyone tells you that you will go to hell for being addicted to something remember that God looks to the heart and over and over again he tells us that he loves us and that his grace is enough. Believe me I know all to well what it is like to bare such chains praying and praying for them to be broken but never being shattered but he taught me that if my heart seeks after him then these chains cannot define me or hold me down

I’ve heard of God healing many addictions, including the desire for certain things. He can lift them away no matter what. Sadly sometimes though I feel He doesn’t for some because it’s part of their learning process I guess

Isaiah said, "With His (Jesus) stripes we are healed." This would mean that anything that needs healing can be healed. Indeed, addiction is no match for God's healing power!

Isaiah 53:5
But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

The Bible says in 2 Cor. 13:4, that Jesus was crucified through weakness. Which it had to be because Gods Grace is only made perfect in weakness. Therefore, through weakness Jesus was crucified that He may taste death by the Grace of God (Hebrews 2:9). As Children of God we get to taste that same death in Christ daily by picking up our own cross (which can only be done by trusting His Grace which is made perfect through our weakness by placing and maintaining our Faith exclusively in Christ and His Finished Work at Calvary Cross where the victory was won) and walking with Christ in the newness of life (His victory). Rom. 6:3-5, Rom. 8:17, Gal. 2:20-21, 2 Cor. 4:11, 2 Cor. 12:9-10, 2 Cor. 13:4, Hebrews 2:9

The fruit that a Child of God bears comes only by Righteousness which is by Grace (Gal. 2:21). Grace only comes through the weakness and death of Christ (2 Cor. 12:9-10). Therefore, Grace is only made perfect through weakness (not our flesh); but only by trusting and placing and maintaining our Faith exclusively in Christ and the Cross. This is the only way Grace flows in a Child of Gods life. This Child of God is considered weak, humble, and broken before God. (THE BEATITUDES MATTHEW 5)

We live by what Jesus Christ did by Grace through Faith Who loved us and gave Himself for us at the Cross of Calvary where the victory was won (Rom. 6:3-5, Philippians 1:21); His Obedience (Philippians 2:8, John 10:18), His Faith (Gal. 2:20-21), and His Love (Faith works by Love -Gal. 5:6). It is not our obedience, not our faith, and not our love, that we live by. Rom. 8:2, Gal. 2:18

In other words, place and maintain your Faith exclusively in Christ and His Finished Work at Calvary Cross (The Blood of Jesus) where the victory was won and receive all the benefits of this Resurrection Life (the help of the Holy Spirit). Romans 8:2

"Addictions" are basically idolatry.

A substance, person, or thing becomes the person's inordinate desire, and he looks to this thing to give him purpose, fulfillment, etcetera, in life.

He does not believe that Jesus is the only Person that will satisfy. Or, if he believes it at some level, he has not been well instructed in the faith or grown to the point where he is resisting the sin.

Maybe he doesn't realize that he has been united with Christ, and what tremendous power that brings to his life.

I don't think any sin is out of God's control, including addictions. According to Romans 6:1-14, we are freed from sin through being united with Christ in faith.

I suggest these books (in order):

Heart of Addiction, Mark Shaw
Addictions: A Banquet in the Grave, Ed Welch
Redemption: Freed by Jesus From the Idols We Worship and the Wounds We Carry, Mike Wilkerson
Union with Christ, Rankin Wilbourne
Identity in Christ, Jonathan Cruse

All three books were recommended to me by solid bibical counselors, who hate the mixture of secular and biblical psychology that most "biblical counselors" try to pawn off as legitimate.

I did jail ministry in the past, and the problem most American prisoners in my area face is, in fact, addiction. Many of them have read some of these books, and told me that they solidly addressed their issues. In fact, two of the guys (out of 300 or so) are working toward counseling others in addictions.

By the way, I don't place "addicts" in a separate category of sinner, above all other sinners. In some ways I think all Christians are addicts until the day they die, because they are still fighting the flesh. Some are likely further along than others, but all still struggle with the flesh...and those that claim they don't are likely full of pride.
