Does the Christian sin every day?
What are your thoughts? What does the Bible say?
Genesis 3:6-7
[SUP]6 [/SUP]When the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was desirable to make
one wise, she took from its fruit and ate; and she gave also to her husband with her, and he ate. [SUP]7 [/SUP]Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loin coverings.
Genesis 4:6-7
[SUP]6 [/SUP]Then the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry? And why has your countenance fallen? [SUP]7 [/SUP]If you do well, will not
your countenance be lifted up? And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door; and its desire is for you, but you must master it.”
Something to ponder in Genesis 3 & 4- is SIN a choice?
John 8:11
[SUP]11 [/SUP]She said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said, “I do not condemn you, either. Go. From now on sin no more.
Something to ponder-Did the women ever commit adultery again?
Romans 6:1-7-something to ponder- Is this sinless perfection or telling us while we will still SIN, we have power over SIN and we should not continue in SIN after we become a new man?
What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin so that grace may increase? [SUP]2 [/SUP]May it never be! How shall we who died to sin still live in it? [SUP]3 [/SUP]Or do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death? [SUP]4 [/SUP]Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through theglory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life. [SUP]5 [/SUP]For if we have become united with
Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall also be
in the likeness of His resurrection, [SUP]6 [/SUP]knowing this, that our old self was crucified with
Him, in order that our body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin; [SUP]7 [/SUP]for he who has died is freed from sin.
Romans 7:14-25-Romans 8:1-8-something to ponder, is Paul contradicting himself with what he said in Romans 6? OR is he showing us that that we have power of the sin nature, or is the sin nature dead and buried?
[SUP]14 [/SUP]For we know that the Law is spiritual, but I am of flesh, sold into bondage to sin. [SUP]15 [/SUP]For what I am doing, I do not understand; for I am not practicing what I
would like to
do, but I am doing the very thing I hate. [SUP]16 [/SUP]But if I do the very thing I do not want
to do, I agree with the Law,
confessing that the Law is good. [SUP]17 [/SUP]So now, no longer am I the one doing it, but sin which dwells in me. [SUP]18 [/SUP]For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh; for the willing is present in me, but the doing of the good
is not. [SUP]19 [/SUP]For the good that I want, I do not do, but I practice the very evil that I do not want. [SUP]20 [/SUP]But if I am doing the very thing I do not want, I am no longer the one doing it, but sin which dwells in me.
[SUP]21 [/SUP]I find then the principle that evil is present in me, the one who wants to do good. [SUP]22 [/SUP]For I joyfully concur with the law of God in the inner man, [SUP]23 [/SUP]but I see a different law in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin which is in my members.[SUP]24 [/SUP]Wretched man that I am! Who will set me free from the body of this death? [SUP]25 [/SUP]Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, on the one hand I myself with my mind am serving the law of God, but on the other, with my flesh the law of sin. Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. [SUP]2 [/SUP]For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death. [SUP]3 [/SUP]For what the Law could not do, weak as it was through the flesh, God
did: sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and
as an offering for sin, He condemned sin in the flesh, [SUP]4 [/SUP]so that the requirement of the Law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. [SUP]5 [/SUP]For those who are according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. [SUP]6 [/SUP]For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace, [SUP]7 [/SUP]because the mind set on the flesh is hostile toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able
to do so, [SUP]8 [/SUP]and those who are in the flesh cannot please God.
Romans 14:23- Something to ponder- is this whole chapter and especially this verse saying that sin is choice and sin is based on personal principals of conscience given to us individually by the Holy Spirit?
[SUP]
23 [/SUP]But he who doubts is condemned if he eats, because
his eating is not from faith; and whatever is not from faith is sin.
James 1:13-16- something to ponder- Is James -reinforcing that sin is a choice as God illustrated in Genesis 3 & 4? Is James also showing us that thought is not not sin, if it is carried away by lust?
[SUP]
13 [/SUP]Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, and He Himself does not tempt anyone. [SUP]14 [/SUP]But each one is tempted when he is carried away and enticed by his own lust. [SUP]15 [/SUP]Then when lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and when sin is accomplished, it brings forth death. [SUP]16 [/SUP]Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren.
James 4:17-something to ponder- is James reinforcing Paul and Romans 14 here?
[SUP]17 [/SUP]Therefore, to one who knows
the right thing to do and does not do it, to him it is sin.
2 Peter 1:8-11-something to ponder-If we are ever increasing in the divine nature, does this mean we stumble[sin] less and less?
[SUP]8 [/SUP]For if these
qualities are yours and are increasing, they render you neither useless nor unfruitful in the true knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. [SUP]9 [/SUP]For he who lacks these
qualities is blind
or short-sighted, having forgotten
his purification from his former sins. [SUP]10 [/SUP]Therefore, brethren, be all the more diligent to make certain about His calling and choosing you; for as long as you practice these things, you will never stumble; [SUP]11 [/SUP]for in this way the entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will be abundantly supplied to you.
