Wasn’t the last supper actually the Passover? This He instituted as the communion feast before He died; our example to continue on the first day of the week, when the disciples came together.Doesn't look like Rome is the culprit for the translation issue:
Latin Vulgate stemming from the 4th century uses pascha.
Douay-Rheims 1582 & 1610 (Catholic translation from Latin Vulgate into English): use Pasche

Yep, this is why it sounds pagan and Catholic.Notice Jesus didn't called it "easter" and made no mention of bunny wabbits laying different colored eggs around the yard that the children needed to go out and find
You're right but Christians in the late-medieval period in Europe probably didn't know that. I think they were going for the symbolic aspect to then exrapolate a message on the resurrection rather than a strict scientific one.Rabbits don't hibernate.

I'd prefer to just stick with translation issues, which is what I initially commented on.Wasn’t the last supper actually the Passover? This He instituted as the communion feast before He died; our example to continue on the first day of the week, when the disciples came together.
Reminds me of work men have done to show that men had the same intelligence as men of today but it was just focused on different things. It's a wonder the Europeans even survived the late-medieval period not knowing when they could hunt rabbits to eat and all.

I watched a video of a retired carpenter who decided to use some basic physics to show one man alone could move 20,000lb blocks and position and raise them as was likely done in the pyramids. The end estimate is that to build a pyramid would have taken about 400 men about 2 years to build.
It is amazing that men of old didn't know about the habits of rabbits.
Funny discussion...
Rabbits aren't actually good survival food because they're so lean lol. The relationship between the rabbits and the medieval European Christian incel monks is.......interesting.It's a wonder the Europeans even survived the late-medieval period not knowing when they could hunt rabbits to eat and all.

Was going to admit I was one of the supermarket guys, but seemed unimportant. Never got past the recreational catch and eat fish stage. It's possible I suppose that not everyone's father taught their children when to hunt rabbits and they just got them in the frozen section at Walmart back in those day's? Who knows right...
It was used in error
They should have just said passover rather than borrowing from pagan religious practices
meta to pascha means "after Passover", but the same term, Pascha, is used for Easter in most languages. English and German are peculiar in calling it Easter (or in German, Ostern) rather than using a term derived from Pesach (Hebrew) / Pascha (Greek) for Passover.
The actual word the KJV translators translated in error to say "easter" is pascha (Strong's G3957)
of Aramaic origin (compare H6453); the Passover (the meal, the day, the festival or the special sacrifices connected with it): KJV -- Easter, Passover.
H6453 - pecach -- pronounced: peh'-sakh
from 6452; a pretermission, i.e. exemption; used only technically of the Jewish Passover (the festival or the victim): KJV -- passover (offering).
Hmmm... rather like how King James Only advocates want to dictate their moral superiority and self-righteousness to true believers in Christ.
glad you didn't say Christ our easter.but Christ our Passover.
Well, He did say, do this in remembrance of Me.I'd prefer to just stick with translation issues, which is what I initially commented on.
As far I as I can tell, Luther influenced Tyndale, and Luther about 4 years before Tyndale used ostern for pascha, from which came Tyndale's ester.
It also looks like within a few years Tyndale uses ester to translate the OC as well.
Theology...
If he were actually consistent and had integrity, he would say “Christ our Easter”. Of course, both qualities are rare among KJV-only advocates.glad you didn't say Christ our easter.
Luke is talking about Passover.
