Eve did not sin by eating of the tree.

Eve knew and quoted God

2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:

3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
I'm sorry. Eve wasn't there when the command was given to Adam (Singular) and in every reference to God's command thereafter God uses the singular "You" stating it was only Adam He gave the command to. If you are stating that you are to obey made up commands of God someone else tells you are commands, ... God commands you to stand on one foot till I tell you differently." If you don't you are just as much a sinner as Eve was at the time.

Prove me wrong. Using scripture. Did God give Eve a different command? The "do not touch" it part. Show me where. Did God ever use the plural "You" referring to both Adam and Eve receiving the command? If made up commands of God are to be obeyed. "God commands you to fold my laundry and weed my garden." Not doing so is a sin. You said so.

We can't know for certain whether it was Adam or Eve that originated the addition, "neither touch it," apart from scripture of her saying that. But I would say that stretching the word of God would qualify as a transgression of a laid boundary.

Actually, the first "deception" was Adam's, not the serpents. The first part is a question:

Gen 3:1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, "Indeed, has God said, 'You shall not eat from any tree of the garden'?"

Not a deception. The serpents statement is 100% truth. She did not have her eyes opened at all till she gave Adam the fruit and she ate. NO CONSEQUENCES AT ALL. There was no violation of the will of God.

" Gen 3:2 And the woman said to the serpent, "From the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat; 3 but from the fruit of the tree which is in the middle of the garden, God has said, 'You shall not eat from it or touch it, lest you die.'" 4 And the serpent said to the woman, "You surely shall not die! 5 "For God knows that in the day you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."

I do not have a problem with changing my beliefs. Just do so without adding, subtracting or distorting the clear meaning of scripture to do so.

God NEVER said "They" would die if "They" ate. NEVER. Adam never knew there was going to be an Eve till after she was created. That's the point. Adam "Deceived" his wife.

Ok ... where in scripture does this come from? I see the (2) reasons Adam got his consequences.

Gen 3:17 Then to Adam He said, "Because you have listened to the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree about which I commanded you, saying, 'You shall not eat from it'; Cursed is the ground because of you; In toil you shall eat of it All the days of your life.

Oh, and by the way, the (You) in every part of the verse above, is singular. Adam alone.

We can guess all we want. But best not to simply guess at the meaning of scripture. And you are right. there is no blaming our origins for how we turn out. We all just start at different points. The path, and the "Fruits" resulting from it, determine where we end up.

The first deception was "4 And the serpent said to the woman, "You surely shall not die!"
100% a lie. Not a guess.

Eve did fail in her charge at being Adam's helper, in keeping accordance to God's word, that is true. And Adam failed in his charge in keeping God's word as well. And that God was fully prepared in the necessity for His plan send the Son of Man to (rightly on their part) die for mankind and the Holy Spirit to (rightly) guide them after Jesus was (rightly on His part) resurrected.

Transgression. Not sin From G3845; violation: - breaking, transgression.

Sin: Perhaps from G1 (as a negative particle) and the base of G3313; properly to miss the mark (and so not share in the prize), that is, (figuratively) to err, especially (morally) to sin: - for your faults, offend, sin, trespass.

You will never find a verse that states Eve sinned. If she did, prove it.

Rom 5:12 Therefore, just as through one man sinG266 entered into the world and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinned—

We have no right to add, subtract or distort the meaning of scriptures to hold fast to what we "want to believe" "as" truth. Show me where Eve sinned and how. Don't leave scriptures out. Don't add meaning not in any scripture, and don't distort any meaning to hold fast to your belief and correct me. I am open to altering my beliefs. Are you?
I added nothing. You have no right to imply I did. You ought to be ashamed of yourself.

No. The correct response was "Oh, right. I forgot about that verse. Forget what I wrote in my original post".

So, ... You are saying
I said what I said. Don’t attribute to me things I did not say. Don’t waste your time trying to refute things I didn’t say.

So, ... You are saying God commanded you not to eat of the tree in the garden and all your grandchildren as well ... all at the same time? When no one else was there? Really?
Don’t be ridiculous.

if God wanted Eve to obey He'd have given them the command at the same time he told BOTH of them to rule overt the earth and be fruitful and multiply. He waited for BOTH when the commands were meant for BOTH. Think it through.
You are very arrogant to pretend you know better than God what He should do.

God told the man. The woman was CLEARLY aware of the command, regardless of whether she was told directly or indirectly.

Further, you have asserted the passage of time between when Eve ate of the forbidden fruit and when Adam did so. I suspect you have overlooked four words in verse 6:

“When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it.”
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭3‬:‭6‬ ‭NIV‬‬

That undermines your argument rather thoroughly.

pfff... how did God look at Adam and Eve? What happens when a man and a woman come together? They become one. She knew not to eat of that tree "We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, but God did say, ‘You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.’

Yeah you just can't skip over "God said must not eat" and you do it anyway. We can play with words.. call it disobedience.. Eve and Adam disobedience.. aka sin comes into the world. God saw them as one yet Adam saying.. ooh look the woman you gave me.. she did it.. haha

Eve knew nothing but the lies/distortions her husband told her.

Eve NEVER disobeyed God's commands in Genesis. God says 3 times he gave Adam (Singular) the command. It was for him alone. Nothing happened when Eve ate. Nothing at all. We don't know how much earlier Eve ate, could have been seconds, could have been years. (But probably not.) But nothing at all happened till she handed the fruit to Adam and got him to eat.

Yes. Eve believed Adam's lie. God NEVER gave Eve any command at all about the tree.

Bingo. What is the "THIS" referring to? Adam's statement, right. So, what is it God is questioning Eve on? Her eating? That has absolutely nothing at all to do with the conversation. He didn't turn to Eve and ask, "Did you eat of the tree as well?" Hew only refers to what she did in Adam's statement.

Show me what happened the moment Eve supposedly violated a command never given to her and never meant for her at all.

Gen 3:6 When the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was desirable to make one wise, she took from its fruit and ate; ...

and she gave also to her husband with her, and he ate.

She ate. Nothing at all happened. THEN she also gave it to her husband and he ate. THEN, and only THEN, ...

Gen 3:7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loin coverings.

At the moment Adam sinned and Eve failed in the role for which she was created, yes. a whole heck of a lot happened. That was never a part of the post.

You didn't get that from scripture. Through one man sin entered into the world.

Rom 5:12 Therefore, just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinned--

Without adding, subtracting, or distorting the meaning of scripture to hold fast to what you want to believe, or showing me where I did so, can you make a case?
Very dishonest on your part to modify what I wrote and turn it around I hate liars!
the text clearly says eve knew when she ate period. stop lying. here is what I wrote from the bible;

Gen 3:1 Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which Jehovah God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of any tree of the garden?

Gen 3:2 And the woman said unto the serpent, Of the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat:

Gen 3:3 but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.

she knew nothing of it? she told the serpent GOD said not to eat it, Voila! the truth. say what you want twist it around again and again scripture is clear.

I cant understand people who twist God's words and think will get away with it and God will not notice. and for the rest you twisted all of it blaming Adam for eves actions

God treats the twisting of his word on purpose to deceive not as mere error but as an act of direct rebellion against him personally, and the consequences scale accordingly, Repent.

you're right, she did not eat of the tree, she ate of the fruit of the tree!!!

Both Adam and Eve sinned by eating of the tree.

If it applied to Adam not to eat then it applied to Eve.

Since Eve was also made in God's image then it was a sin for her to eat of the tree.

All sin affects all people if they commit it.

Genesis 3:6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

1 John 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

1 John 3:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

Eve committed the things of the world that is sin.

Genesis 3:7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.

Eve's eyes were opened and she knew she was naked the same as Adam so obviously she sinned for she felt guilty.

Genesis 3:13 And the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.

Genesis 3:16 Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow ; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.

If Eve did not sin then why was she punished.

The only thing is if Eve sinned but Adam did not sin then there would be no fall but what would become of Eve.

Would she of been replaced or forgiven and they would remain in the garden.

Re "God never said they would die the instant they ate."
Yes, but they did not understand metaphorical words might convey spiritual truth.
That ignorance resulted in sin and ultimate death unless God provided a way to be saved.

So? What's your point? It doesn't seem to have anything to do with what was originally said which, was "when did Eve become a sinner?".

I mean... it's right there.

Transgression of failing in the 2 roles she was created for. Yes. She was created to be a helper suitable for her husband and to be his glory. The 2 roles she failed at, not when she ate, but when she got Adam to eat. "Through one man sin ..." So did God get it wrong?

Explain this from scripture please. Without the knowledge of good and evil, and without any command of God not to listen to anyone or anything else, how can a person sin? She wasn't tempted to do anything wrong at all.

The serpent actually told her the truth. She didn't die when she ate. She died when she violated the very reasons for which she was created. Same as Adam did. Eve was created to be a helper suitable to him. How's she help Adam out? She helped him out of the will of God, out of the garden, ...
Actually, she was tempted. She told the serpent that God forbid eating of the tree of good and evil. Said that if this happened that person would die. She knew it was wrong but was swayed by the deception of the serpent.

A day in the eyes of the Lord is like a thousand years and a thousand years a day. I believe that Adam lived to be 930 years old. So, in the eyes of the Lord, he did, in fact, died the day that he ate from the forbidden tree. So did his wife Eve.

Regardless, Eve was certainly a helper suitable to him.

I said what I said. Don’t attribute to me things I did not say. Don’t waste your time trying to refute things I didn’t say.

Don’t be ridiculous.

You are very arrogant to pretend you know better than God what He should do.

God told the man. The woman was CLEARLY aware of the command, regardless of whether she was told directly or indirectly.
So, if we teach as commandments of God the precepts of men, or others do so and command us to do what they say instead of what God says, are we obligated to obey them? It wasn't "God's Command" for Eve, or God would have given it to BOTH of them when He said, be fruitful and multiply and to put the whole earth in subjection, right? God gave Adam alone the command. three different times God said He gave Adam alone the command (singular) and each time God says ONLY him. Is what God says good enough? Correct me. Where did I misinterpret what God says?

And, God didn't give Adam rule, authority, ... over Eve until AFTER the fall. So, she was not commanded to obey him.

You have a problem here. The eating event was finished "Before" vs. 7.
After both had eaten,

"Gen 3:7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loin coverings."

Also, the wording in verse 6 indicates a separate event of the eating.

Gen. 3:6 "... she took from its fruit and ate;"

Gen. 3:6 "and she gave also to her husband with her, and he ate."

Tell me I'm wrong and point to the error. Is this not the case? Is this not the meaning?

Wonderful. Prove me wrong. Sin entered into the world through one woman ... ok. the scriptures are wrong and you are right. Prove it.

When Eve became a sinner has nothing to do with when sin entered the world. Eve is not the world. Sin is passed down through Adam. The sin nature is in the flesh Rom.7:23 and is genetically formed. It is through procreation that sin entered all humanity. You are trying to make the verse apply to two separate individuals rather than the actual context which, is the world. It also entered the natural world as per God's judgment in Gen.3 which is reflected in Rom.8:20

The problem is, she ate and did not die

No, the problem is she did die exactly as God said, "in the day you eat" not the instant you eat. You are trying to make death instantaneous but God never said that.

The only way for anyone to sin, apart from the knowledge of good and evil is to disobey a direct command of God. There was no command of God to Eve to obey Adam or not to eat of the tree. Prove your point.

Speculation on your part. I showed you the verse that said Eve was deceived and became a sinner. Nothing about breaking a direct command of God. 1Tim.2:14. You need to prove your point that one can only sin by breaking a direct command of God. Considering God has not given every human being a direct command for every sin that can be committed, I don't think your argument will stand if you tried to tell God you haven't really sinned.

God didn't command Eve ANYTHING. Adam's misrepresenting God said (Not that this isn't happening right now.) is the "deception" that occurred. If Adam had simply stated "God told me if I ever ate of the fruit of the tree I'd die." Odds are much better we'd still be in Eden. But He altered what God said, told Eve a lie, she bought it, and they, and we suffered for it.

More speculation on your part as to whether Adam spoke God's command accurately to Eve. Just because Eve added to it doesn't mean Adam stuffed up the retelling. Eve has a brain in her head and can think for herself. We are given a bare bones description of what happened, we have no idea how long Eve may have been pondering the command not to eat and how, in her imagination, she thought about the command.

Oh, there were consequences, but not for "sinning" or sin entered into the world through one woman and Jesus would have to been born a woman to correct that original sin. Eve failed to be a helper suitable for Adam (The reason she was created) when? At what moment? Adam was created to be the glory of God. Eve to be the glory of man. To make them "Look Good". At what moment did Adam fail in the role for which He was created? At what moment did Eve fail in the role for which she was created?

She failed when she was deceived and believed the lie just as the scriptures state. You need to look at all the scriptures and compare them not simply one part. I gave many examples in my last post regarding where sin begins, in the heart where no-one but God can see. Just because we do not see the overt results instantaneously, doesn't mean sin has not occurred.

1 Timothy 2:14
And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner.
