I attended an Evangelical mega church for a good while. There also happened to be folks leading who were from various backgrounds.
I noticed that there were many more opinions on the tools for ministry. They included software, daily devotional books and various guides. Pastors might want consistency and proper doctrine by establishing his own preference. I see a place for various media tools, but with that was a tendency to substitute the devotionals for the raw Word of God. I have a pattern that works for me and that's the Bible daily with insight from the Holy Spirit.
Perhaps there are many opinions on this. Mine is to encourage believers to establish a lifelong routine for daily Bible reading.

John 16:13, Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come." I believe it works for you because the Holy Spirit, The Spirit of Truth, is the one who should always be the only one guiding us.

Yes, I agree. He sure does. Often He brings verses to my remembrance. If there's a question, and I ask, think a little bit, He often miraculously leads. It amazes me how God guides us unto all truth. Thanks for bringing up the ministry of the Holy Spirit to believers. I love John 16.
 
I would suggest sticking with the King James bible and studying it chapter by chapter and verse by verse so that your learn what God has to say rather than the doctrines of men that make void the word of God.

You know when I became a believer, I had a hard time with the King James version when I was reding it to me it seemed it was talking to someone other than me, with all the thee and thous lol the pastor said oh you are just a simple person take the New Amercian Standard version instead, this worked really well for me!! I found out later that this version is closest to the Hebrew as well.

Thats the problem I have Autism, I am a misunderstood Genius lol

All our studies start with a devotional. Read a scripture, make a few comments, which eventually leads to a 15 minute testimony meeting. Then we get into our studies. It works for us.

The Elizabethan English has advanced vocabulary that is not in use today. Once you learn those words, it provides extra clarity not found in the "easy to read" bibles.

The use of thee, they, thine and thou are synonyms for you. However, when the "T" words are used, keep in mind that they are addressing one person. They are singular, whereas the use of ye/ you are usually plural. They are used when speaking to more than one.

Some will claim that I oversimplified my explanation of these words and would be correct. However, we all must start somewhere and this is a good place to start and will help you to read the KJ Bible from cover to cover with a greater understanding than before.

The King James version is not without its flaws (Psalms 8:5) In the K.J. version it says a little lower than angels! Correct is God, that word is Elohim not angels, how could our Jesus be lower than that which he himself created?? Any way You can stick with it as you choose, but for me the New Amercian Standard has worked VERY WELL for me.
