People tend to perceive us differently online than we are in person. What do you think are the most common misconceptions about you online?
 
I'm thinking of that Brad Paisley song....."I'm so much cooler online. So much cooler online." :D

Wouldn't we have to know how we're perceived online to answer this question? ha. I suppose we could guess.

Anyone that knew me only from forum posts here could think I was a more serious person than I am probably. Other than that, I'm not sure. Hmm...Some people on here really seem to be open books and share very very personal information, etc. I'm not like that. So I guess that would leave more room for someone like me to be perceived differently.
 
As niceguyJ said, i would need to know how i am perceived online haha. I guess some of the things that could be misunderstood are my jokes, other than that I'm not sure....sometimes I think I sound more serious that I really am, and sometimes I think i sound sillier than I really am. Sorry if I didnt make sense.
 
That I'm the most arrogant self-centered annoyingly egotistical chatter in the Lounge who talks about himself all day long. How many times do I gotta remind you people? It's an act! I'm playing a role! I'm not really like that in real life. In fact I'm very much the humble and quiet type ;)
 
I'm a loser. :) My little PM box says so, and people tend to disagree without actually getting to know me.
 
for some being online i became stulker and creeper .... well .... may God bless those that think this way of me !!!!

That I am nicer or more social than I really am.

In forums where I don't reveal age and face many would think I am significantly older too.
 
Like others I probably seem more outgoing than I am in person, beyond that it's hard to say.

Maybe we should state how we perceive each other first :D That could be interesting, although I'm not going first.
Personally I was very dissapointed to learn that Jullianna is in fact NOT Nicole Kidman :(
 
Poor Jullianna--we love the actual you... We don't want you to be Nicole Kidman. :D

I'm actually very happy that people tell me I'm the same in person as I am in writing, pictures, on the phone, etc. HOWEVER, I don't unleash "my full self" util I know people fairly well--I will quietly observe for a while, noting people's likes and dislikes... then throw out a few wisecracks to start with and see how it goes. This is my formula for chat as well... Which is why I'm usually pretty quiet there.

However... when it comes to threads... and if I REALLY like you and/or feel comfortable with you???? NO HOLDS BARRED!!! :D (Who let the dogs out?! AAARROOOO!!!) LOL!!
 
Guess I should answer my own question, huh? :)

I'm very quiet when I'm around strangers. I don't let my guard down easily. I like to sit back and take it all in..observe for a bit. Maybe that's why I usually don't post the first time I read a thread or even when I created one. *shrugs* Once I'm comfortable around someone, I'm far more open and playful. I don't care for crowds much either.

Sorry to disappoint you, Matthew :D I agree that it would be fun to post our impressions of one another. Who wants to go first? BE NICE, but honest :)

I've always been quite reserved in a crowd of strangers. I can definitely relate to sitting on the sidelines and observing. Most here would never think of me as being somewhat introverted.

I'm about 99% sure that Jullianna really is Nichole Kidman, I'm just waiting for the DNA evidence to come back. :p
 
I really cannot picture myself being any different from how I am portrayed in writing. If you picture me as slightly reserved yet somewhat talkative, sarcastic, geeky, reflective, white, male, skinny, and rather opinionated, then you have me down pretty solid.

Wow, thank you for saying that, Catwoman. Bless your heart. All I can say is that its a long story. I didn't know Jesus until about 5 years ago and before that I was very lost and now I am trying to get myself out of this deep hole which is my life. Right now I am sure no woman would consider me as a mate and I don't blame them. On top of all that, I am too timid and shy to even approach a woman. I wasn't always that way, but right now my self-esteem is in the gutter because of where I am in life and it will take some steps before I can get that back and start feeling like I am worth dating again. Thanks so much for your kind words. You really made me feel special. God bless you!
