The creator of this thread is long gone by now most likely, but it's still a pretty good question. I like it when a guy approaches me boldly with humor. :D
A couple of the best ever:

1. Singing this song:

2. I was at a party, talking with a group of people, and a guy tapped me on the shoulder, excused himself to the group, asked if he could talk with me for a minute, took me by the hand and led me to the dance floor and said, "Sorry, I don't want to share your attention with anyone".

With confidence, casually, not awkwardly! Compliments are always lovely :) Stay confident!

I think it's great when I'm standing in a line reading a magazine waiting to check out and the guy behind me looks over my shoulder reading it too... actually had this happen... I turned around and there he was. Reading over my shoulder.. When we looked at each other , Randomly he spurted out "hey open that back up we were almost finished" ... Very original! Unfortunately his cell phone rang and sounded as if a crisis occurred, he left his basket there :( I never forgot that though.. :)
I think just being yourself and being comfortable with who you are makes others comfortable around you :).

Just go up to her and say hello, tell her you think she is really beautiful!!! But don't be like "heeeeeeeeeeey girllll, you know, you are fineee!" just be subtle and sweet!

Please don't say that to a lady. A modest women is embarrassed by this. I'm so tempted to repost this in the Women vs Girls thread. :)

First off Happy Thanksgiving to everyone :)

The last thing i would want is a guy to come straight up to me then comment on my looks.

I give a guy 10 out of 10 for just approaching me..... he must have some serious courage to do that!

Just chat like you would do if you wanted to be someones friend first and once you are familiar you will feel more comfortable to get closer! :D

"Hello Ma'am, My name is Elder Smith. I would like to take a minute of your time and share with you another Testament of Jesus Christ, Okay?"

"Hi" ...long awkward pause... long stare... head tilt... sigh... "How are you?"

"Hey I just met you, and this is crazy but, here's my number. Call me maybe."

"Hola chica! Cuantos Anos?"

Okay in all seriousness, a smile is about the only thing I've ever needed to approach someone and talk with them. Usually about something else going on nearby, which is shamelessly and obviously not why I started talking with them. And if they don't have the tact/humor to play along, then its not the end of the world.

My view on dating is what most would call "traditional". Having said that if a man approched me that I didn't know he wouldn't get anything more than I smile from me and I might get a little confidence booster.

Having said that, it really depends on the situation. I guess you could just find some creative way to be causally noticed by her, hopefully stike up a conversation, and if she's not someone like me, maybe ask for her number or a date.

Can I also just say to men at large- Most women are not oblivious to when you're looking at them. Peripheral vision is something we all have. Plus you get that "is someone watching me?" feeling.

Having said THAT, it can also serve as a confidence booster.

Just be aware that you're not being as inconspicuous as you think.
