Hey, guys! I'm not exactly sure what to put here, so I guess I'll just explain my spiritual journey.

I was born into a Christian family and was baptized when I was an infant and went to a Presbyterian church regularly as a young child. I definitely loved Jesus and knew He loved me. However, this was lost after my parents divorced and my mom stopped taking me to church. Without church, there was no connection between God and me, as I didn't know we were supposed to have a relationship with him at home as well as at church.

For a few years after that I didn't really think about God, I just did what I felt I needed to, such as going to school. When I was in middle school, my dad started taking me to his church every other Sunday, which was also Presbyterian. If I'm being honest, I didn't like it. I had gone so many years without God and I didn't think I needed Him, and the fact my dad was forcing me to go didn't make it any better.

After I stopped going to church with him, I didn't go again until my junior year of high school. I had a problem with my stepdad and had my friend come over and she invited me to go to youth group at her church with her that evening. I said yes, as an "anything to get out of his house." I enjoyed it, everyone was so nice to me and I asked her if she could take me again that Sunday. That day was an interesting one for me, as her church was Pentecostal and a whole world different from any church I had ever been to, but I enjoyed it. That was the beginning of my new relationship with Christ. I went to church every Sunday and every Wednesday with her, although my relationship with God was still virtually non-existent.

It wasn't until a few weeks ago that I met an evangelist at my college campus that I realized there's more to being a Christian than just going to church every week and finally gave my life to the Lord. I've started doing weekly Bible study with her, going back to church (this time a non-denominational one,) and I was baptized last Sunday (a week ago.) Even though it hasn't been very long, I've never felt closer to God than I do now. While I still have a lot to learn, I've already learned so much, and I can't wait for the great many years that await me.

Sorry if that was a bit too long, I wanted to include everything.
If you read all of it, thank you for taking your time! (:

Welcome decemberheart to Christian Chat. It was great reading your story. I can see how God was calling you and pursuing you. He loves you so much! Choosing to live for Christ is the best decision you will ever make. Life will still have its bumps, battles, and bruises, but God will be with you each step of the way. From someone who's been beat up by life, God has always been there and been faithful. He has turned bad situations around for His glory and honor. Life with Jesus is the greatest adventure ever! :) You will never ever be alone again because He is always there. Have a blessed day and keep growing in your relationship with God! Sincerely, NinjaMomma

Hello decemberheart - I love the "y'all" part, but I was touched deeply by your story of the hope that you have in Christ. I was moved to AMEN it!

Congratulations on all the Lord has afforded you! Praise His Name! - YES?! It is a beautiful thing to see a growing Christian, and we are all growing if we remain in Christ Jesus, as we are the Body Of Christ His Church. If a person does not have a special experiential knowledge of Christ, that person does not have a ministry. And to be sure God will give you His ministry. It is through receiving in life something particular from Him that a ministry is formed. The characteristic of a member is the ministry or service of that member.

The hand, for instance, has its particular characteristic, hence the latter becomes its ministry to the body. All sufferings, all disciplines, and all trials are used by God to incorporate His word in us that we may have something with which to supply the church (His Body here on earth).

Apart from Christ, aside from life, there is nothing of service to the body of Christ. Christ is life: it is with Him that we supply the church for its building up. The one who has no life brings death to a meeting even if that one only says an amen in a prayer meeting. But the one who has life is able to supply life to the prayer meeting even if that one merely says an amen. Sitting with a person with life will cause people to sense the life in him. The measure of one's knowledge of Christ is the measure with which a member can supply the church with life.

Today God is seeking for people in whom He can deposit an abundant portion of the life of Christ so that they may supply others. Life needs a channel. And God wants man to be that channel of life. He will use man and woman to transmit the life to the body of Christ. If life stops in you or me, we will not be able to supply life to others and the church will suffer loss. For instead of supplying life we will spread death in the church. There is never a personal defeat which does not adversely affect the church. As a consequence, in the body of Christ, when one member suffers all the members suffer with that member. Even if a member is defeated in his room, such as in the matter of neglecting prayer, the body will surely suffer. Every member may influence others. Hence let us not live to ourselves. Let us hold fast the Head and seek fellowship. Before we make certain decisions let us have fellowship. All is in, through, and for the body - not in, through, or for the individual. May God cause us to see the body. May He also use our ministry to serve the church according to our real knowledge of Christ.

It is the truth which is reality that sets us free in Christ. May God set you free and have you roam in Him to build your character thru all of His teaching and rebuking and correcting and training in Him thru His Word, and prayer. May God richly bless you into Eternal Life, and may we benefit from Him in you as well, for we are all a part of His Body together!
