Hello and welcome to CC, brother Dave! :)(y):coffee:

Jesus. Is he really the Son of God?
Yes, He is.
He is God, second person in the Trinity.

what really happened?
Jesus came to Earth, dwelt among us in the form of a man, lived a perfect exemplary life, died to pay the price for our sins, rose up on the third day, a then ascended up to Heaven to prepare a place for His Bride (we, the Church.)

Also prophecies in the Old Testament about him.
Isaiah 53:
1Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed? 2For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. 3He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. 4Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. 5But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. 6All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. 7He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth. 8He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken. 9And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth. 10Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.

God bless you, brother! (y)

As a kid in mass when they read this scripture I used to snap to attention, I didn't know why.

Hi
yes I’ve heard about Isiah 53 although I’m not a master in the subject. It’s one of the most convincing passages. Thank you
Dave

Hi Dave and welcome.

1) undoubtedly
2) all things "which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms"
3) "Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me,"
4) Amen to that bro.
1Ti 1:16 Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.

1Ti 1:13
Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief.
1Ti 1:14
And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.
1Ti 1:15
This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.
1Ti 1:16
Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.
1Ti 1:17
Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.

It must have been really hard for people to start believing that Jesus Christ was the unique Son of God. The way I understand Greek Mythology, people used to kind of think that they were descended directly from Zeus, which is the definition of specious thought. A Greek Hero was supposed to be the son of a Greek God and a Greek Woman. And while heroes were rare, there were enough of them that other Greeks followed them as spiritual leaders in a political state that officially practiced faith and enforced a belief in the divine descent of legitimate Greeks, at least the noble ones. Seeing Jesus as the only son of God was probably very difficult, but then again, it didn;t stop the doctrine of the indwelling or the doctrine of sainthood from taking hold.
