Yes, I've chatted other places before and there has been a lot of "awful" ... some fun and funny and ok too though... but not nearly in proportion to the mess. Was just trying to figure out my preferences settings. Finally found them.

I finally figured out about private messages on here. They are a paid service -- $24/year or a lifetime pmt of $100 to be able to message others privately, but the threads (like we're using here) are free.

Oh.. I was going to say that even though they have the nics colored on the live chat part, they don't seem to have any designation on the website/forums. I have seen where it is listed on the profiles of other people but can't see it on my own so I keep hoping that I didn't make some kind of mistake when I registered.

The site switched to a new format a few months ago. Previously on each post the female members had pink screen names and the male had blue. Also, the number of posts the member submitted was prominently listed along with the age if the member had set that up as a profile option. You can still determine the sex but you have to go to the member's profile page and some members limit who can see their page. If you click on the scroll arrow under a members name it will list the date that they joined but the year is cut off, number of posts and the age if the entire date of birth was entered on their profile page. The age will be indicated by the number of candles on a cake. If no age is given then there will be no cake. Some mistakes cannot be corrected on a profile once entered such as sex or the birthdate. If you want your age listed you have to enter the entire day, month year you were born. Correcting a mistake or omission can be corrected but you would have to contact a mod.

By the way, you made no mistake about your sex and I also see that your age is listed as well. This is very useful information to help determine an appropriate response to a post without having known the member over a period of time. To see the info on your profile page click the word "About" and it will list everything that you entered. As I said, a lot of the info can be edited or updated by the member except for the birthdate and the sex.
