In Isaiah 45 (actually deutero-Isaiah) the propaganda of Cyrus is quoted regarding what he will do to Babylon, the wording is the same, regarding what will happen to the city of Babylon, when he arrives. The issue is that the city surrendered rather than trying to stand against him, so the promised destruction never occurred.

Knowledge of actual history makes a difference when reading the Bible. Likewise, the suggestions in both Josephus and the gospel/Acts that some Jews liked Romans does not fit historically. They might have done business with Romans and been cordial, but history clearly implies that they would privately support anyone with what appeared to be a realistic approach to getting rid of the Romans. The Asiatic Vespers saw 80-100,000 Romans and Latins killed in a single night through cooperation between client kingdoms that would appeal to Rome against each other, until one kingdom suggested mass assassination by all. And a neighboring region was appalled, that they had not been told of the plan because they would have happily joined in, even though again there was historic animosity between the regions.

Then there are also the numerous places where the simple reading of what is said in scripture gets "adjusted", the simple reading being "clearly" not what is meant, "all" does not mean "all" but only this select group.

Our Lord Jesus Christ gave us a great warning about False Christ & Prophets

MATTHEW 24:23-24
23 Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.

24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
Here is what's served me well, when someone starts telling me what the words I'm reading in Scripture "really" mean, I know I can stop listening.

I'm not sure if you're on topic or getting away from it. A false prophet gives a prophesy that doesn't materialise, or teaches a false gospel.
I don't agree with using titles Jesus said not to use, adding, changing or taking away from the Bible or being in it for the reward, but I'm not sure that's what you mean. It seems to be an issue with church leaders in general. Could you clarify?
The false Gospel aspect is being done on a regular basis because many preachers/teachers are leaving out the word, "repentance", which in turn, makes it a false Gospel and many also say that they Christians are allowed to live the same way that unbelievers live their lives and that they are in no danger of being cast into Hell. Although we are not saved by our works, our works DO prove who we are, book of James, so we should not be consistently producing bad fruit, Matthew 7:17-20-Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

You have covered it succinctly....refreshing....it's great to sometimes be pleasantly surprised.... :)

I was saved about two years when our Head Church sent us a new Pastor and sent ours overseas. The new guy was a good orator. After one year I noticed that some of what he preached contradicted the Bible. I noticed that he was kicking people out that disagreed with him. Then he neglected gods word altogether in his sermons. Thats when it began to resemble a Cult. So I fasted and prayed and felt led to Leave that Church. I never said anything to anyone. Later I found out that the pastor told the congregation that I left because I had Demons and that if they leave his church they lose their salvation. The abuse got worse. The head church was a former 4 square that Chuck Smith pastored long before. It turned wacko. So I line up what comes over the pulpit with the Bible, if it dont fit its a fake. Ive been through a lot of Churches over the years. IMO not many Churches preach Gods Word anymore.
And, your opinion is quite correct....so, we need to stay prayed up and be about His business.

Where's the city? The destruction happened, but God has His times for everything He plans to do
The ruins are known and they do not support what was supposed to occur, not does the historical record. But as I noted, Isaiah's comments do fit perfectly with the propaganda put out by Cyrus.

It is not an issue with the religious leaders.
Perhaps when I share the truth they are being exposed.

Scribes and Pahrisees were religiuos leaders by that time
Actually they are different group in belief in salvation like the different sects in Christianity today.
They united to go against the Lord Jesus.

For clarification you may read the entire Chapter in Matthew 23.
Then let me know the answer to the question.

Did Jesus have issues with them as religious leaders, or was He simply sharing the truth with them, which exposed them?

2 strong passages of false teachers

Matt7:23
And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’ (lawlessness Greek “anomia” means negators of the Law)

Matt 5:19
Whoever then shall break one of the least of these commandments and shall teach others the same, he will be called least in the kingdom of the heavens; but whoever shall keep and shall teach them, he will be called great in the kingdom of the heavens.

It was more to do with the title of the thread and that's why I was referring to your addressing of teachers and leaders.
Your words certainly expose plenty of leaders, I'm sure. Others surely also do a fine and serious job, especially if they're answering a calling to do so. But everything should be put to the test of the Bible, including leaders' words and actions to see whom they are serving

Yes, we must follow what the Lord Jesus said.
MARK 16:15
15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

And no one should be exempt, no matter who is affected.
ROMANS 2:11-13
11 For there is no respect of persons with God.
12 For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law;
13 For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.

What matters to Lord Jesus are the lost sheeps who will humble themselves if they hear the voice of the Lord (The Truth).
JOHN 10:2-5
2 But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.
3 To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.
4 And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.
5 And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.

Wrong. Again, you are inserting the concept of “false prophet” into situations where it simply does not fit.

“For it is written in the Law of Moses: “Do not muzzle an ox while it is treading out the grain.” Is it about oxen that God is concerned?”
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭9‬:‭9‬ ‭NIV‬‬
The truth is:
When it comes in spiritual things.
No person has the right to say what is right and wrong.
Because accordin to the Lord no one is good.
ROMANS 3:10-12
10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
11 There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.
12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

The false Prophets doesn't believe Romans 2:10-12.
They think highly of themselves, so they feel confident enough to say what is right and wrong.

But the chosen of God (real Prophets) who believe Romans 3:10-12.
So they only share the truth that the Lord Jesus revealed to them.

Paul & Bernabe just made a testimony and never said to the Jews who did not believe them that "You are wrong".
Instead they said to those who believe them "We are also men like you"
ACTS 14:1-4, 11-15
14 And it came to pass in Iconium, that they went both together into the synagogue of the Jews, and so spake, that a great multitude both of the Jews and also of the Greeks believed.
2 But the unbelieving Jews stirred up the Gentiles, and made their minds evil affected against the brethren.
3 Long time therefore abode they speaking boldly in the Lord, which gave testimony unto the word of his grace, and granted signs and wonders to be done by their hands.
4 But the multitude of the city was divided: and part held with the Jews, and part with the apostles.

11 And when the people saw what Paul had done, they lifted up their voices, saying in the speech of Lycaonia, The gods are come down to us in the likeness of men.
12 ;And they called Barnabas, Jupiter; and Paul, Mercurius, because he was the chief speaker.
13 Then the priest of Jupiter, which was before their city, brought oxen and garlands unto the gates, and would have done sacrifice with the people.
14 Which when the apostles, Barnabas and Paul, heard of, they rent their clothes, and ran in among the people, crying out,
15 And saying, Sirs, why do ye these things? We also are men of like passions with you, and preach unto you that ye should turn from these vanities unto the living God, which made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all things that are therein:

Irrelevant blather.

Wrong. Again, you are inserting the concept of “false prophet” into situations where it simply does not fit.

Because of not recognizing the one true God, what God said was not believed.
ECCLESIASTES 1:9
9 The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.

So what people today belief is what happened in Eve’s time is a story focused only on Eve.
However, without realizing it, Eve’s sin when she ate the forbidden fruit of the knowledge of good and evil is the same sin of people today.
By eating the forbidden fruit today, people have developed their own standard of what is good and what is evil. That is why they have the boldness to say, That is wrong.

No person has the right to say what is right and wrong.
Nope....
Luke details the 4 types of sins.

Sins of ignorance
Sins of negligence/inaction
Planned Sins
Sin of being unforgiving/no grace extending.

All carry the exact same penalty....as there is only one penalty for sin: DEATH

All the Law and Prophets hang upon what TWO commandments Jesus said?

Yeah....so we can most certainly identify Sins. None are with sufficient excuse.

You lack the integrity to address me directly and instead employ this pathetic passive-aggressive shaming.

The forbidden fruit is long gone. What remains is temptation to sin.

Telling you that you are wrong when you are wrong has nothing to do with either temptation or forbidden fruit. You just don’t like being the target of plain corrective statements.
