Again, marriage with WHO? Pursuing marriage without an answer on this is guilty of idolatry.
Um, OK. How about this: If you're a Christian, you're only permitted to marry another Christian, right? And we're allowed to do it, right?

So if you're a Christian and you're dating another Christian, and you become a romantic couple, and then you marry, and then you start a family, and you enjoy a happy life together.....at any point in this process, are you guilty of idolatry?

Now where's the fun in that

Now where's the fun in that?
😅

It's sad to see that some can't agree to disagree and then start just copy and pasting scripture as if the one who throws the most verses out there wins by default.

No thought, nuance, articulating, conversation with active listening...

Arguing with people like that is like playing chess with a pigeon. They come in, walk all over the board, kick the pieces over, take a c**p and then strut off as if they've won when in reality they've achieved pretty much zero.

While I find it odd that you guys are hellbent to make every kind of excuse to speculate on his marital status, even though Paul couldn't be clearer in 1 Cor. 7 that he was single, and divorce is not allowed. How about he himself precluded marriage, because he said so?
The most compelling evidence for Paul’s having been married comes from deductions made from
Paul’s position as a Pharisee (and possibly a member of the Sanhedrin) and their views on marriage.

Paul stated in Philippians 4 v 3 that he was a Pharisee who studied under Gamaliel (Acts 22 v 3).
It is quite unlikely that a Pharisee would have been unmarried. Certainly an unmarried man would
not have been part of the Jewish Sanhedrin. And some, taking their cues from Acts 26 v 10, believe
Paul was at one point part of the Sanhedrin.

For those looking for actual Scripture which might lead one to believe Paul was previously married,
1 Corinthians 7 v 8 is believed by some to put Paul in the category of a widower. Funny, here you are
speculating on Paul's' marital status while claiming others are hellbent to make excuses about it. Hmmm.

And you did not answer my question: How would Paul's wife DYING make him being one seeking to be
loosed from the bonds of marriage, or make him a hypocrite? I say it does neither = rational/logical.

Why do you elevate the 70s as some kind of ideal time to have had a relationship? You did not answer that either.

And I admit, I'm not so ticked off and riled up on any other subjects, only on the justification of singleness.

Wait, so there's subjects you CAN be chill about?!? Great goodness, I had no idea! What are they, let's talk about those for a bit! 😜

Anyways, my point is that you are fighting with the wrong crowd. To the best of my knowledge, everyone on the singles forum considers singleness to be a valid Christian path, except for JohnDB. And he's not even single, he just comes here to insult those who are because he can't handle retirement.

The way you answer people here makes it seem like you think you are arguing with only one person. You do know that each username is a different actual person, right? 🤔

Does the bible state explicitly that Paul was not married at one time?
Because he was a "Pharisee of Pharisees " he most definitely was...."engaged " and under a marital contract. ...it's more than what we would call engaged but less than actually married as we would understand it.

Israel has ALWAYS been a PRONATAL society. Never not....even today they have no issues with their total fertility rate.

Oooh, a new word I learn. Lush. Much better than the word "yummy" in my most humble opinion.

Kettle corn is a sweet popcorn. IT'S SO GOOD.
I'm not up to speed with American food really as it's been 11 years since I stayed there. Not sure we can get that over here.

Now just to pile on....
MOST popcorn that we buy in the grocery stores....microwave, orville Redenbackers and etc.....is.....
Wait for it.....
Drum roll please......

Butterfly popcorn.

But the kind that most of the caramel corn and Kettle Corn is made from is "Mushroom" variety....not butterfly.

However....
You can purchase the mushroom head variety popcorn through Amazon. It is more expensive than butterfly. But....it WILL make your popcorn game a step above.

AND

As a "fun" uncle to some nieces and cousins......

I really really want a popcorn cannon.
If you have never seen one....just look it up.

Does the bible state explicitly that Paul was not married at one time?
in 1 Corinthians 7:7 Paul says that he, personally, wishes that everyone was single like he was. Was Paul ever married before or after the time that he wrote this? We don't know. The Bible doesn't say.

According to some commentators, Paul was married because, historically, a member of the Sanhedrin was required to be married. However, Paul never actually stated that he was a member of the Sanhedrin. He did seem to be on the path, though (see Galatians 1:14) But Paul might not have advanced that far before he encountered Jesus and converted.

So we know Paul was single at the time that he wrote 1 Corinthians. Whether he was single for the other parts of his life, we don't know.

You have provided a pertinent verse that answered my inquiry.

No, but you're guilty of counting a brood of chickens before the first egg is hatched. Haven't Lord Jesus taught us to count the costs first?

I'm not at all sure how that this is related to my post that you responded to. I you are happily content to remain single that is up to you. Personally, I had love in my heart that I desired to share with the woman of my dreams. I went for it and have absolutely no regrets.
Well good for you. I can't begin to imagine that. I don't wanna bring another human being into servitude, deprive them the freedom to pursue other romance, or let them "devour" my inheritance if this is a Jezebel. I don't think single is the most optimal state of living, but I don't wanna gamble either, and I'm probably too old for it anyway.
