Your memory was probably mixing pieces of verses from Job 38.
At any rate, that passage doesn't claim the world was a ball of ice.

I woke up this morning and realised the earth is flat, my dad is a pumpkin and my mum comes
from mars.

So you think flat earthers are disabled? But you cannot explain why all experiments over water show no compensation for the curvature of the earth. Look at the Bedford level experiment, and now people are doing laser testing that shows water doesn't curve, and it would have to if the earth is a ball of a 25,000 mile circumference . It is called spherical trigonometry. A ball planet spinning 1000 miles an hour and rotating 66,000 miles per hour around the sun sounds like a sun worship religion. Flat earth sounds strange when we have believed all our lives earth was a planet (which actually means wandering star) moving at insane speeds through the universe. There is no proof for it.

But God made the sun stand still for a day according to Scripture. Who are you going to believe God or man? The sun worshippers believe everything revolves around it, but if we are the center of the universe, it makes sense that everything revolves around us.

I have offered the following two completely valid testable experiments that would allow anyone with guts and brains - and the means to perform them - an opportunity to put forth some 'real' information into this topic. Over 1200 posts, and how much discussion has there been on these? Very little. Absolutely none on the second one.
FlatEarthers -- please stop entertaining the scoffers and fill this thread up with ideas that are testable experiments that may be performed - hopefully, by the "average Joe" - but, even if they would take time and money that most of us do not have. Somebody out there might just be able to perform them.

How to prove beyond-a-shadow-of-a-doubt that the Earth is flat, and not a sphere...
Position, somewhere on the Equator, a stationary reference "beacon" that sends out a signal in all directions -- or, at least - either East or West - with an angular range from North to South ( i.e. - 180 degrees with East / West in center - albeit, only the North 90 degrees will be significant ).
Position, on a ship / airplane, a directional receiver - such that, it can be determined with sufficient accuracy the angle ( relative to the Equator - or, directly behind ship / airplane ) the reference beacon is being detected.
Using a directional transmitter-receiver at both points would be even better.
Make sure that the signal - of whatever type - is of sufficient strength to reach a very long distance - and cannot be "blocked" by anything that might happen to come between the reference beacon and the ship / airplane.
As the ship / airplane moves away from the beacon, while staying on the equator:
~ If the Earth is a sphere, the signal will be lost soon enough because of the curvature of the earth; however, the angle from reference will never waiver from 0 degrees -- the beacon will always be directly behind the ship / airplane.
~ If the Earth is flat, the signal will be sustained for whatever distance it is capable of being detected; and, the detection angle will increase with the distance between the reference beacon and the ship / airplane.
Why? Because the ship / airplane will actually be following a circular path over the face of the Earth.
This will only work on the Equator - because, from a perspective regarding the angular part of the above suggested experiment - it is the only lattitude that is supposed to be a continual straight line all the way around the globe. And, that is why - if the results of the latter case are obtained - the Earth cannot possibly be a sphere.

I had brought up to my pastor that I had converted to the flat earth view, and I was shot down by him, and then I got rebuked for talking to others in the church about it. It is really depressing. He feels the geocentric view is a distraction to keep us from preaching the gospel; he thinks it is designed to confuse believers and cause non believers to mock Christians even my wife thinks I am wasting my time, but I cannot see any of this. In my minds eye, the truth has to matter about this. Doesn't the truth matter?

He's afraid you'll "embarrass" him. And you will. This topic is best left to those with discernment of it's truth imo. Baby steps. There is much in the way of programming and spell casting that must be overcome. Again just my opinion...

Let me say I did learn a lesson. The Bible says though we understand all mysteries and have not love, we are nothing. So, even if we can see what is truth about the earth, sun, moon and stars, we should hold our piece if it will stumble and confuse others, because we owe them our love. We cannot shove a steak down a babies throat. So, maybe little steps is the way to go and that is how I blew it.Truth always matters.

Yes, baby steps is the only way to go. If you are to bring the topic up, but you'd think elders and pastors should be able to handle big steps, but they cannot; so, it is baby steps for all the Bobs out there.
