How to still believe in god after seeing this...

Sad stuff. cant say i relate with anyone here. Well that was a quick little testing the waters of Christianity for me, but I for one expect someone who says they are all powerful to put their money where their mouth is. And dont tell me the world is wicked so he had to disease a child at birth. Yeah im wasting my time here. thanks.

Apparently, you give up easy and have no staying power whatsoever. I'm sure you have seen many examples of Christianity through the years that you casually brush aside and dismiss. No wonder you feel like a crappy guy.

I recently saw a video shared on my twitter about a young girl who was Vloging about a recent surgery she had.

She had a few facial deformities (as well as hand and arms) and she had to have surgery just to close her eyelid.

I consider myself pretty emotionless and generally numb, but as a grown man I dont think ive ever cried a river as hard as when I watched this.

Is god not all knowing and all powerful? Tell me then that this isn't his choice to see this girl suffer like this.

I dont know if I can do this anymore, think Im done.

Sometimes children are born afflicted by the sins of their mother. Drug addicted, malformed babies, cerebral palsy and many other things happen during gestation. God can use what is bad for great things. Perhaps God wanted to use her affliction to stir something in you. You had compassion for her instead of feeling emotionless and numb. Perhaps He's trying to talk to you. Will you listen or walk away? Will you give her a testimony or will the story pass by you in vain?

Oooohhhh, the ole "God doesn't do stuff the way I would do stuff if I were God" routine... yeah, that's... well. The fact is, that wouldn't be much of a God if He did everything the way a typical human would. Yikes.

To be fair, I have sometimes been known to start sentences with "If I were God..." and then fill in the blank here. Usually something to do with justice for children. "If I were God, I would have an angel JUST to deal with child molesters and that angel would ____" Okay, the fill-in-the-blank part is too nasty to write here, but you get the idea.

God does not do things the way a typical human would. For which I am eternally grateful.

For anyone reading this thread, dont let such posts bother you. This man clearly already decided that he didnt want anything to do with God before he even saw this video, and is now only using this video to defend his stance.

If God exists, He would only do so in the ways that I desire. Its not a good stance to have.

As for such biological issues people are born with, Jesus answered this question Himself. Such sad birth defects bring glory to God. Imagine if this girl was saved, and on the last day her body was restored to the way it should be. This girl and all those who trust in Him would praise Him.

God never promised this life was going to be paradise, filled with pleasure and free from sorrow. Any argument that God "didnt say this life had to have suffering" isnt an argument.

There are many logical proofs for God's existence, and even for the particular WAYS that God does things.
But the skeptic seldom deals with logic, as he pretends.
It is almost always an EMOTIONAL argument which the skeptic latches onto.
The arguments all go like this, "I don't personally feel something in the world is fair... therefore there is no God."
This isn't a logical argument, as it breaks down logically - this is an emotional argument.

So who is really more emotional, and who is really more rational... the atheist or the christian?


This isn't to saw we should be without compassion, or that suffering isn't a real problem in the world.
Rather, it is to simply say that "suffering in the world" is NOT any kind of logical argument against the existence of God.

Childhood diseases. Horribly disfiguring accidents. All the evil and pain that exists in the world. Christians and non-Christians alike have been grappling with why such things exist since, well, the moment Adam and Eve stepped out of the garden. Perhaps it will take you more than a handful of posts on a message board to figure it out.

Consider the parable of the Prodigal Son—except put all of mankind in the place of the son who spurned his father and ran away. Was it the father's fault that the son ended up friendless and destitute? Like the father in the parable, perhaps God has something better in store for us if we return to him than what we (humanity) deserve for deserting Him.

I do know this -- it is God's fault! Yes, God had her be born deformed. Yes, God had Nero kill hundreds of thousands of Christians in those early days, and he did the same thing with Hitler, Stalin, and so many other despots in history. Yes, the Trade Center came crashing down for God's good purposes. Yes, I became disabled because of God's good purposes. Yes, my father is suffering through Alzheimer for God's good purposes. Yes, London has been attacked often for God's good purposes. Yes, BLM is for God's good purposes. It's all for God's good purposes. The thing is it isn't always for the good of the person.

He will use some people to do something bad to help one (or more) of the people he has chosen. He will use something as silly as gallstones to cause events who could foresee, but him.

He IS God! We are not! Anything that has ever happened, good bad or who notices, are all for God's glory and the good of his people. If it has happened, then God is working it out for just that -- his glory and the good of his people. Even Satan has to ask permission to do his worse before God either accepts or refuses Stan's wish. (Read Job, if you don't believe me.)

Why? Because he is God!

Got problems with that? Your problems, not God's, because everything works for the good of his people and mostly for his glory!

I feel exactly the same way. I don't seek God's fairness but rather desire His compassion and mercy.

Why did you believe in Him in the first place? I'm sure in 26 years this is that the first bad thing you have seen or heard of. So why did you believe in Him to begin with?

When did God ever say He would ensure a life in this world without suffering? Answer.. Nowhere..
When did God say life in this world HAS to be a life of suffering?

Why then would someone start to disbelieve in God because they see suffering around them in this world?

Does rejecting God end the suffering around you? Answer Nope..
Does rejecting the current 'belief system' of Christians today end suffering around you? Possibly, depending on perspective, but many believe in suffering. And when they believe in suffering they believe love and focusing on it is worthless (well, it comes from God so one doesn't have to be loving. Maybe one is a part of the problem!)

There is no hope when people continue to believe in something, and USE God as an advocate, for themselves not being a part of the solution. This is a world problem. Most people are in it for themselves even those who use God as an advocate for doing nothing themselves. God works through people. What is the will of God, if it is not to sacrifice yourself for others, that is the only true love. Wasn't Jesus the way the truth and the life of God's will? Jesus isn't a conduit, Jesus is THE example of how you should be. But that has been literally destroyed, by literally minded people, and logically minded organisers of the truth. False teachers. The command is love, which comes from a pure heart, clear conscience, and sincere/genuine faith.

Solution to what? world suffering.. No matter what kind of delusional world systen you can think up there shall be no end to world suffering until such time as God redeems creation and establishes His perfect eternal existence.. Human Love is a cushion that softens the blow of suffering or helps heal the wounds of suffering.. But it does not End Suffering and never will..

Take away God you take away any hope for a better future..

God is Love, and if any person has love for their neighbours they are coming to know God. But organisers of 'the truth' don't want you to see that truth, because the truth sets you free, free from requirements that were designed by men. Much evil has occurred from men, in God's name. It is this which is the unforgiveable sin, and yet, maybe a lot of their beliefs and doctrines, we still believe in partially today.

And you stating the false doctrine that God is in everyone marks you out as a putting forward a false religion designed by the faulty thinking of man.. You sound like a new ager to me..

Actually there is a lot of logic involved in rejecting God. Logic is mans device of intelligence that overrules God's intelligence which is the highest intelligence. Human logic is the enemy of God. Logic, love, logic, love, which one shall I choose? That is the free will we have. God says to always choose the loving option. Have faith in his logic, even if it can seem illogical to do so. Faith is illogical.

I would start seeking Gods guidance on things and stop relying on the faulty logic of men...
