Hey Everyone,

I have to be honest in that I didn't quite "just enter" into my "long-term relationship" all that recently -- it's actually been about 2 months. But I'm happy to report, it seems to be going quite well!!

In early spring, I spent many a visit longingly perusing the rose plants at my local plant supply stores. I LOVE roses -- my favorite flower -- but always found them to be too intimidating. Plus, I can only have a container garden, and I wasn't sure how well I grow a rose plant that had to be kept at a certain size. However, when I saw one on sale (about 40% off,) I could no longer resist. The plant I got looked perfectly healthy -- but the blooms had run their course and were all coming apart, petal by petal. So, I took it home and have pretty much made it my baby!

It had some new buds forming even when I got it, but I am very excited that a brand-new bud is evolving, one that formed entirely while under my care! (I bet the poor thing is breathing a sigh of relief.) It produces medium-sized pink roses, BUT, that also means I only have to maneuver around medium-sized thorns.

And, I'm in it for the long haul. With cold weather fast approaching, I've already scoped out a comfy place indoors, complete with grow lights, to pamper my little darling during the winter. And, if things go well, I might gather up the courage to buy a plant with full-size roses (and full-size thorns) next year! (I saw a gorgeous purple variety that I can't stop thinking about!)

What about you?

* What kind of "long-term" commitments and "relationships" do you have going on in YOUR life?

Maybe it's a game you're trying to conquer, a piece of furniture you're trying to upholster, a recipe you're trying to perfect, a vehicle you're trying to fix. Maybe it's a sport, exercise, or dance move you're determined to improve. Maybe it's a writing, piece of art, music, or project you are trying to finish.

* How did you get involved in these activities, and what made them become "long-term" relationships instead of just one-and-done?

* Did you go into any projects/interests EXPECTING it to be long-term, but for some reason, it ended early? What happened?

* On a scale of 1-10, how much of a commitment/hassle/workload are these things you've taken on? Do you consider them to be a joy, a frustration, a challenge, or a bit of everything?

I've been thinking in particular about the things I've been able to try during my single time, but everyone is welcome to answer! :)

I always enjoy hearing what people are up to.

* What are YOU doing to keep your "relationships" spicy? (I'm trying a new watering method -- and the object of my affection seems to approve.) :)

Sometimes, I put some Cajun spice on my eggs.
Don't know if that counts or not.

I'm always trying to step up my game with breakfast or burgers. Some of y'all already know that so that's nothing new.

😁

I've got a long term relationship with McDonalds. I like going there for breakfast most mornings. I keep it spicy with plenty of salt and pepper. The biggest threat to the relationship is greed. McDonalds wants too much from me... if it weren't for the coupons in the app, I'd be looking elsewhere, probably my own kitchen, for a satisfying breakfast.

Some relationships are bad for you and you need to get rid of them before they kill you. A relationship with a fast food factory could be considered an abusive relationship. It certainly abuses your digestive system. :p

Spring of this year I began a relationship with an electric push mower. Gas mower, I'm leaving you.

No gas tank. No oil pan. No spark plug. No nothing. Just slap in a battery and start mowing.

Also no ear plugs. No dog running away. I always thought he was afraid of the mower. Turns out it just killed his canine ears. He doesn't even care how close this electric mower gets.

Oooohhh, if it weren't for my issues with the cash, cholesterol, and calories, McDonald's breakfasts would definitely be my #RelationshipGoals. 😬😎🥺

I love roses and I'm hoping for the best for your endeavors!! 🌹

For me, I'd like to say working out...but, admittedly, I've been neglecting my relationship too much. I've got a lot of projects I'm working on and they can be a workout themselves sometimes, but I do intend to get back into a good solid workout schedule. I love squats and some may remember me doing 2,000 in one day. But, I hate lunges. If I keep up with my project schedule, Lord willing, that'll wind down sometime in the fall. At that point, I should have more time and focus to get back into a good, regular workout routine again that's not sporadic...actually, I aim to get into an even better workout routine than before.
Lunges, I may never come to love you but I'll try to not hate you 😂

neat twist on a topic! my best long term relationship is my rosy flower, my wife!! still Bible, Christian music, verse memorization, listening or watching the pastors, coins, music, landscaping, antiques, chess, bike riding, swimming, reading, estate sales & garage sales, gourmet dining, baseball, sightseeing, vacationing to the Caribbean & playing cards. there's more but just a little of this & that. when the interests popped in mind, i began to pursue them. i really don't get into long term like you are mentioning h3ere but these things in listed, i've been involved in for decades. i consider my interests a joy & a challenge. with the relationship, we both are adept at surprising each other. just yesterday, i spent a big some on antiques & the guy gave me a robert w chambers book for free & i surprised mrs. wifey & she so much enjoyed it. she's a collector of them. we travel a lot & that really builds up memories.

Our two cats, Tango and Sugar, have been with us for 10 years now. They are often amusing but very needy, always needing reassurance that they are love. They love us back too.

I remember when, I think it was Tango? Accidentally ate some thread 🧵 and needed surgery... 🩺

Poor little guy.

Hopefully, he's been staying out of trouble. 😎
