For OSAS believers would have you believe that we are not perfecting holiness in the fear of the Lord (2 Corinthians 7:1).
I wonder why it is that you are always so wrong? All Christians are perfecting holiness in the fear of God. It is a process which commences when we are born of the Spirit, and it will continue until we are presented perfect before Him. And it is possible because He is at work within us to will and do of His good pleasure (Phil 2.13).
Yes, it is true that perfect loves casts out fear. But see, you have to perfect your faith in holiness so as to cast out fear.
You talk such perfect nonsense. If you had to perfect your faith in holiness to cast out fear, you would never cast out fear. You could never be sure that you were holy enough. It is His love for us that enables us to cast out fear.
It is because your standard of holiness is so low that you think otherwise. For all your protestations your salvation is work based, AND I FEAR FOR YOU.
It takes work in perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
See what I mean?
For if we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9).
If only you really understood this verse you might have hope. My friend it is no use washing every day. You need a full bath - 'to cleanse us from ALL unrighteousness' (then 'he who is bathed needs not but to wash his feet').
This does not mean we are saved by works.
but you have just said that perfecting holiness in the fear of God IS a work. You are inconsistent.
Repentance is not a work but it is simply throwing yourself down before the mercy of God;
True but that is not perfecting holiness in the fear of God. It is calling on God to perfect holiness in us.
And perfecting your faith is simply choosing to abide with Jesus Christ who is the source of salvation.
So simple, LOL just choose to abide in Christ, just like a branch chooses to abide in the vine? Have you ever seen a branch which made that choice? We can only abide in Christ when we have been made one with Christ, when we have been made a fruitbearing branch, and that is wholly by grace. Then because the Spirit has worked within us we abide in Christ in response to His initiative. That is not a work but a response of faith and trust. We do not strive to perfect holiness. Christ works through us in His holiness.
.
For He that has the Son has life and He that does not have the Son does not have life (1 John 5:12).
Absolutely, once we have received Christ we have everlasting, continual, unlosable life (1 John 5.13).
For there is no "Condemnation" to those who are in Christ Jesus who walk after the Spirit and not after the flesh (Romans 8:1).
ALL Christians walk after the Spirit, even though sometimes in a stumbling fashion, because the Spirit is at work in them Those who walk after the flesh are not Christians. They do not have the Spirit (verse 9)
Is committing suicide walking after the Spirit? Or is committing suicide walking after the flesh?
It is in most cases neither. Suicide can arise for a number of reasons. Mental instability, choosing to give one's life for others (which Jesus Commended, or the feeling of being unable to go on resulting in an act of desperation. None of those are 'after the flesh'. Of course deliberate suicide when the mind is perfectly balanced is a different matter. It is God Who decides, not Jason.
