I used to be a staunch pre-destinationist, thinking that God ordained all that He was going to saved from the beginning of time, the foundations of the world. Thus, He ordained all those who would be thrown into the lake of fire. If this the case, wouldn't this make God out to be a cosmic rapist? In that He forces the pre-destined ones to love Him? Is this what Love is?

Well this error of thinking is in direct conflict with these passages; 2 Peter 3:9, 1 Timothy 2:4,
1Timothy 4:10, Ezekiel 18:32, Ezekial 33:11, John 3:11.. I could suggest more verses, but I'm becoming hostile to long posts.

So what is Paul saying in Ephesians 1:4?
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, 4just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love,

My attempt to answer this lies in 1 Peter 1:20
19 but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. 20He indeed was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you

It was Christ who was pre-destined to be the one elected to bring salvation to the world, from the very beginning, the foundation of the world. Therefore everyone who's heart turns toward God and authentically repents and believes in Christ in faith that grace brings is brought into the election. Thus Christians are called the elect and the election because of what the ONE elect did for us, not because he hand picked us from a line up, and we become part of the heavenly family.

To say that God picks those for His elect for eternal life is the same as saying that God picks and chooses those who don't believe to hell. Does God send people to hell? Or do people send themselves to hell because they chose not to have a relationship with God. If someone chose not to have a relationship with God, and God forces them into a relationship, would that person be happy in heaven with a relationship he never wanted to begin with? No. Loves us so much that He lets us Chose one way or the other. God shows the un-believer love by granting him what he/she wants, separation from God.

2 Peter 3:9
9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

1 Timothy 2:4
(God our savior)4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus,

1 Timothy 4:10
10 For to this end we both labor and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Savior of all men, especially of those who believe.

Ezekiel 18:32
32 For I have no pleasure in the death of one who dies,” says the Lord God. “Therefore turn and live!”

Ezekiel 33:11
11 Say to them: ‘As I live,’ says the Lord God, ‘I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live. Turn, turn from your evil ways! For why should you die, O house of Israel?’

John 3:11
17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. (Notice it doesn't say "but the elect through Him might be saved")

We are all predestined to be saved. Some of us choose not to do so. For God to be truly loving, He agrees to honor our choice.

lol, yeah, sorry about that...I should have worded it differently.

Yeah, I'm not going to bother voting in this poll.

I believe predestination is biblical, because the bible says so. None of the options are true to the word.

Ephesians 1
In love 5 he predestined us for adoption to sonship[c] through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will— 6 to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. 7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace 8 that he lavished on us. With all wisdom and understanding, 9 he[d] made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, 10 to be put into effect when the times reach their fulfillment—to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ.

Again, if we murder 27 people and then repent do we get the same Helli as my granma who gave to her neighbours....discuss

Well, I believe in predestination too, for the church. God knew before the foundations of the world that He would have a following, a people unto Himself. In Ephesians 1 it says Predestined us, the Church, OT and NT. Having a people redeemed from their sinful condition for His glory was His plan all along.

I believe God does exist out of our understanding of time and he definitely knows who will be saved and who will not be saved, but that doesn't He's the causal agent of it all. And its not to say that He doesn't play a crucial role, because He does (I'm sure we agree on that). Also for me, I wonder if I did had a choice, since I was 5 when I accepted Him. I tried living a life under my own control and it never worked out. It only works out for me if I put my complete trust in him and do it His way.

Do you have kids? Do you want them to love you with their own will, or would wave a magic wand and make them love you? Is that true Love? I think your view of predestination makes God out to be a God that loves some and hates others. Is this God character? Sure he hates sin and the sinner, but His love surpasses over all and Christ's death demonstrates that. Yes, God is a God of mercy and justice, what justice would the unsaved have if they never had a chance to begin with?

CS Lewis says it well, "There are two kinds of people: those who say to God, "Thy will be done," and those to whom God says, "All right, then, have it your way."

Anyway thanks for responding to my post, even if my options in my poll where offensive to you. I'm sorry for that. I respect your position, but just don't agree with it because there are many verses that contradict predestination of the individual.

Sorry, I have a bad tendency to leave words out, its supposed to read:

I believe God does exist out of our understanding of time and he definitely knows who will be saved and who will not be saved, but that doesn't mean He's the causal agent of it all

Well, I believe in predestination too, for the church. In Ephesians 1 it says Predestined us, the Church, OT and NT. Having a people redeemed from their sinful condition for His glory was His plan all along.

Yes, he predestined those that would be his Body. Ephesians 1 tells us that. "predestined to adoption"

God knew before the foundations of the world that He would have a following, a people unto Himself.
Yes, and one of the problems here is that often people use the word "foreknow" or "foreknew" and turn it into the secular philosophical uses of the word, which would be more along the liens of "foresee" and "foresaw". A strong difference.

I believe God does exist out of our understanding of time and he definitely knows who will be saved and who will not be saved, but that doesn't He's the causal agent of it all.
So you caused your salvation?

And its not to say that He doesn't play a crucial role, because He does (I'm sure we agree on that).
Most certainly. :)

Also for me, I wonder if I did had a choice, since I was 5 when I accepted Him. I tried living a life under my own control and it never worked out.
Yes and no on "choice". "Choice" concerning salvation is a tricky subject because it's more nuanced.

"Choice" in the sense of, "God chose me, but I can reject him", then no. If God regenerates a man, God owns him. Scripture attests to that.

"Choice" in the sense that you make daily choices, that the unregenerate nature is to choose against God, and the opposite for the regenerate. Yes.

It only works out for me if I put my complete trust in him and do it His way.
Yes, but you would not be able to put your complete trust in him at all without him. You can't claim any credit, because it is totally a work of God. In an ultimate sense, God works through you, not you through him.

Do you have kids?
No.

Do you want them to love you with their own will, or would wave a magic wand and make them love you?
False Dichotomy. If I can wave a "magic wand" and change their will, then would they not willingly love? Do you really think that those who believe Ephesians 1 speak of predestination (and paul wasn't just pulling our leg) think that the regenerate man has the same will of the unregenerate? That the regenerate many rather begrudgingly follows God, and loves God? In a "well, I don't want to, but you said so, so I will" attitude? If that is what you think, you know little of the Grace that is oh so irresistible.

Is that true Love?

I think your view of predestination makes God out to be a God that loves some and hates others.
Well, you might think that, and you are allowed to do so. There are some who believe predestination, who do believe that. There are most, who do not. Of course, even some of the strongest free-will advocates (open theism) believe God doesn't love everyone.

Is this God character?
If God tells us in his word, that he loves some, and does not love others, who are we to say otherwise? I have to answer, "I don't know." There is a particular verse that makes me think, "maybe he hasn't loved everyone", Hosea 9:15.. but I don't really get into that matter. It's not a big deal.

Sure he hates sin and the sinner, but His love surpasses over all and Christ's death demonstrates that.
I don't know that the death of Christ necessarily means that, but I can see why your presuppositions would lead you to believe that.

Yes, God is a God of mercy and justice, what justice would the unsaved have if they never had a chance to begin with?
Without God acting within them, they have no chance to begin with. God says so himself.

John 6:44
44 “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them, and I will raise them up at the last day.

As you know well from elementary school, the word "can" is not a word of permission, rather, ability. No one is able to come to me, unless the Father who sent me draws them, and I will raise them up at the last day. So no, scripture tells us it is not wrong on God's part. Also, who says God is obligated to give everyone an equal chance? Scripture certainly doesn't demand it. If scripture does demand it, then it seems he stands condemned, there are many who do not have the word of God. Many who have never heard the Gospel preached. Many who never have, and never will. Yet, salvation comes through the preaching of the word.

Romans 10
14 How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? 15 And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”[g]

16 But not all the Israelites accepted the good news. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our message?”[h] 17 Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ. 18 But I ask: Did they not hear? Of course they did:

“Their voice has gone out into all the earth,
their words to the ends of the world.”
19 Again I ask: Did Israel not understand? First, Moses says,

It seems you still have to account for your own charge. ;)

Either way, there is no problem. God will do what God will do, who am I to question him?

CS Lewis says it well, "There are two kinds of people: those who say to God, "Thy will be done," and those to whom God says, "All right, then, have it your way."

Anyway thanks for responding to my post, even if my options in my poll where offensive to you.
I wasn't offended. They just were totally inaccurate.

I'm sorry for that. I respect your position, but just don't agree with it because there are many verses that contradict predestination of the individual.
Ephesians 1 speaks to predestination of the individual. "Us" is a noun used to designate a group of individuals. Even a crowd is made up of individuals. ;)

Do you study much in regards to regeneration?

James says it is an act of God.

James 1:18
18 He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of all he created.

Peter testifies that is not of corruptible seed (man) but of incorruptible seed.

1 Peter 1:23-25
23 For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God. 24 For,

“All people are like grass,
and all their glory is like the flowers of the field;
the grass withers and the flowers fall,
25 but the word of the Lord endures forever.”[a]
And this is the word that was preached to you.

Paul testifies that it is the Spirit that works in us, not ourselves.

Ephesians 2
2 As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, 2 in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. 3 All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh[a] and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath. 4 But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. 6 And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, 7 in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. 8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast. 10 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Jew and Gentile Reconciled Through Christ

11 Therefore, remember that formerly you who are Gentiles by birth and called “uncircumcised” by those who call themselves “the circumcision” (which is done in the body by human hands)— 12 remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world. 13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ.

14 For he himself is our peace, who has made the two groups one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, 15 by setting aside in his flesh the law with its commands and regulations. His purpose was to create in himself one new humanity out of the two, thus making peace,

John declares that it is not by human decision that we are born-again.

John 1:12-13
12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— 13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.

Jesus says a person must be born of the spirit, and not the flesh. The unregenerate man is flesh, not spirit. He says that flesh leads to flesh, spirit to spirit.

John 3:1-8
3 Now there was a Pharisee, a man named Nicodemus who was a member of the Jewish ruling council. 2 He came to Jesus at night and said, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the signs you are doing if God were not with him.”

3 Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.[a]”

4 “How can someone be born when they are old?” Nicodemus asked. “Surely they cannot enter a second time into their mother’s womb to be born!”

5 Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. 6 Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. 7 You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You[c] must be born again.’ 8 The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”[d]

If you're going to acknowledge what scripture says, you cannot believe that regeneration has ever been something you do.

A scriptural Ordo Salutis looks something like this:

If you make it all the way through my post, Gold stars for you. :D

I have posed questions to my child that I know (even as a simple human) how they will answer. Does that make me "pre-destining" their choices? I am somewhat wise when it comes to my children: do you think less of God because He knows "a lot more" (deliberately minimalist), therefore He is somehow "forcing" us? I think Predestination and Freewill are functions of God's nature and ours: they are not actions easily understood in the limited realm we live in.

We have learned that perspective (what angle we view something at) skews the results... Even Physics at a quantum level tells us this is true... Faith vs Works, Predestination vs Freewill, Ultimate Good vs presence of evil: these are not actually contradictory ideas, except to human kind. Yet, you can believe two contradictory things at once: I caught my daughter telling "the truth", but it was missing some facts, which led me to the opposite conclusion required if I had had all the facts: was she lying? Yes and No... there are many examples of these things.... God has no problems logic: we do. We can construct logic arguments that are self-denying.... We must trust in His ultimate wisdom and goodness

You might also ask if humans truly have choice or not? Because that is what it all boils down to that question.

If humans truly have no choice then the blame for everything must be on God. No choice means God created evil, and since we have no choice then it is wrong to blame us for our mistakes. Predestination inevitably leads to those conclusions.

The minute human choice comes into the scene means that God takes risks when he calls us and sanctifies us because up until the time of our death can still reject God. Under the rubric of choice we can be blamed even if it is only a choice to follow Christ or not.

when i read this i expected to have to reply to an atheists calling god a rapist because of mary. Ok, so I belive in Lutheran predestination, the belif that God does predestine some to salvation, but those not predestined to salvation have free will whether or not to be saved.

Yes, he predestined those that would be his Body. Ephesians 1 tells us that. "predestined to adoption"

Yea, if you replace "the Church" or "the believers" with "US" in Ephesians 1 it makes clear sense, for Paul is talking to a particular group, not 1 individual "To the saints who are in Ephesus". It was God's sovereign plan to redeem a (a 1 people group) people unto Him. The saints in Ephesus are part of the people group, the saved.

So you caused your salvation?

No, what I mean by this is that I don't believe that God makes/forces anyone believe and have faith. If He did, then it wouldn't be our belief or our faith it would be Gods. That would make it like God giving a gift and God receiving the gift. God enables us (everyone) through His HS to believe, it's conditional, we have the responsibility to accept it. Ephesian 1:13-14 explains this:
13 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, 14 who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory. We have to hear, trust(have faith) and believe, God doesn't do these things for us. He opens the door and gives all of us the opportunity (this all God), but we have the ability to respond 1 of 2 ways. For example: Say my Dad bought me a house, he worked for it and paid it in full. I did nothing to purchase it or to deserve it, I did no work to obtain it, but I still had to accept it. The Calvinist or individual-predestination view is that even if I didn't want that house, my father came and tied me up and forced me to live in it against my will.

Lets look at a few more biblical verses: (my comments in parentheses)

Proverbs 8:35 For whoever finds me finds life,
And obtains favor from the Lord;
(Not who I(God) chose will find Me(God))

John 12:32 And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all peoples to Myself.” (I don't see any qualifier that suggests "all" is the elect. Was Jesus was just talking to His elect in this context?).

2 Corinthians 5-18-19 Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us (the elect, believers) to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us (the elect) the ministry of reconciliation, 19 that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world (Kosmos, not just His elect) to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us (the elect, believers) the word of reconciliation. ( I think that this passage suggests that God is reconciling the whole creation unto Himself, not just the elect. But this doesn't not support universalism because we have other scripture that flat out refutes that).

Hebrews 2:9 But we are able to see Jesus, Who was ranked lower than the angels for a little while, crowned with glory and honor because of His having suffered death, in order that by the grace (unmerited favor) of God [to us sinners] He might experience death for every individual person.(AMP) ( don't see the election here either).

Proverbs 28:14
14 Happy is the man who is always reverent,
But he who hardens his heart will fall into calamity. (this suggests to me that we harden our own hearts, but of course there is always exception to the norm).

"Choice" in the sense of, "God chose me, but I can reject him", then no. If God regenerates a man, God owns him. Scripture attests to that.

There maybe always an exception to the norm, but I contend still that if God chooses me it's because I gave up my will for His, He enabled me to make that choice. And I agree with you that once saved always saved. My brain is becoming sauce now. I need to take a break.

Yes, but you would not be able to put your complete trust in him at all without him. You can't claim any credit, because it is totally a work of God. In an ultimate sense, God works through you, not you through him.

We can still give Him all the credit and still claim that God gave us the ability to choose. A great example of this is the exchange God and Cain had in Genesis 4:6-7, 6 So the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry? And why has your countenance fallen? 7 If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it.” Clearly God is telling Cain he can choose to do well or choose not to do well and that he has the ability to choose well in the last phrase of verse 7. In that same sense we have the ability to choose Christ (life) or death(sin).

False Dichotomy. If I can wave a "magic wand" and change their will, then would they not willingly love?

Yes, but like programed robots. Is that what God did and wants? Programed love? Being made in God's image, doesn't this mean in part that we are made with the ability to think, reason, to will, desire and choose?

Do you really think that those who believe Ephesians 1 speak of predestination (and paul wasn't just pulling our leg) think that the regenerate man has the same will of the unregenerate? That the regenerate many rather begrudgingly follows God, and loves God? In a "well, I don't want to, but you said so, so I will" attitude? If that is what you think, you know little of the Grace that is oh so irresistible.

Where does it say in God's word that God's grace is irresistible so some and not to others?

Don't forget the parable of the two sons, one son begrudgingly didn't want to work in the field, but did it anyway. The other son said I'll go work in the field and never did. Which one loved the father more? The son who did work in the field didn't do it out of irresistible grace, but out of a contrite heart.

Without God acting within them, they have no chance to begin with. God says so himself.

John 6:44
44 “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them, and I will raise them up at the last day.

I agree, but it doesn't go that far to say that God doesn't work in the unsaved at all or that God doesn't draw everyone. This just simple means that God does the work in wooing us into a relationship with Him. We still have the option to tell Him to get lost and that who Jesus was actually talking to, those who rejected him. They didn't want to hear, it's not that they couldn't hear. Jesus was wooing them that very moment. Any and all light we are given comes from God, but we are held accountable on how we respond to it. How can God justly punish those whom he never calls to salvation then, for they are not responsible for their disbelief, in your view God is.

Matt. 23:37 “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing! Does this sound like a God who predestines people to hell? sorry for the bold font :) They were not willing, Not, "but I(Jesus) am not willing to open their eyes."

Those who have not heard the gospel are not of excuse, for they too, have been wooed by God. For all of us has the light of creation within us as we look around the universe and can see there is a creator! (doesn't mean they will see, remember the grammar lesson you gave me) All though some or most out of their own foolishness don't want to recognize this. For every effect there has to be a cause that is equal or greater then itself. So not only is the knowledge of the God written in the Universe in large, but in small written on our consciousness. Thus we have an outer witness and an inner witness. The human race, has 2 witnesses, in which God can hold everyone accountable. God calls these two witnesses heaven and earth, in Deuteronomy 31:28, to be the 2 witnesses against the Israelites in the wilderness. And again in Deuteronomy 32:1, calling on the heavens and earth to hear, meaning the super natural and earthly natural creation bears witness to God.

The same goes for the Law and prophets regarding old Israel, for the law represents Christ and the Prophets is God's words through men of His calling, calling men to repentance. These are the 2 witnesses in Revelation 11 as Elijah as the prophets representative and Moses as the representative of the law, which is perfectly presented to us in the account of the transfiguration on the mount (another topic I know) that bear witness against Jerusalem. Today, we have 2 witness as well, not only the heaven and earth, the spiritual and natural, but also Christ(the word) and His church. Romans 1, 2 and 3 explains this.
Romans 1, 19-20
18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness,(who suppress the truth? God or Man? Man does.) 19 because what may be known of God is manifest in them (the inner witness), for God has shown it to them. 20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse,

God will render to each of us according to our deeds, according to each man's heart, not according to whom God individual picks for salvation.
Romans 2:5-6
5 But in accordance with your hardness and your impenitent heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God, 6 who “will render to each one according to his deeds” 7 eternal life to those who by patient continuance in doing good seek for glory, honor, and immortality; 8 but to those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness—indignation and wrath,(I see no predestination here, God fully holds everyone responsible for their actions and the amount of light they received).
In verse 11 For there is no partiality with God.

13 (for not the hearers of the law are just in the sight of God, but the doers of the law will be justified; 14 for when Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature do the things in the law, these, although not having the law, are a law to themselves, 15 who show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and between themselves their thoughts accusing or else excusing them) 16 in the day when God will judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ, according to my gospel.

So yes, it is possible that people who hear not the law or gospel can be saved according their conscience and their thoughts, which either accuse or excuse them. So once some hears the law or gospel then God holds them even more responsible, not not only do they have God creation telling them, and their inner morality, but now also His Word and the Church.

But if you respond the light given you (in which you become a seeker of God), God will give you more light. The problem here is that men love darkness rather then light, and seek their own pleasure. It's not a matter of whom God hand picks for salvation, but who honestly seeks after truth.

If God predestines His elect from the beginning of time, why bother evangelize? For our reward? I don't serve God for my reward, I serve out of love and what He did for me.

Ephesians 1 speaks to predestination of the individual. "Us" is a noun used to designate a group of individuals. Even a crowd is made up of individuals. ;)

Once you are in a group or crowd, you are no longer alone or an individual. Your statement sounds contradicting.

Do you study much in regards to regeneration?

Yes, please don't insult me this way. He wooed me, He died for me, He arose to give me hope and to affirm His promise, and perhaps He softened my heart. He did all these things and more. But doesn't that mean I'm not able to say YES to Him and that I am unable to AGREE with Him. Once someone accepts the gift of atonement, they are regenerated. I realize this is a complex issue and I admit I don't understand it complete...and if you do, more power to yah...It not really worth debating, IMO.

If you're going to acknowledge what scripture says, you cannot believe that regeneration has ever been something you do.

I'm coming the end of my rope here, so if you made this far, you're better then me.. I don't believe regeneration is something we do, we just ask for it authentically! and receive it. Then God begins the process of inward sanctification. Did you ask Christ to come into your heart, be you Lord and savior, ask God for forgiveness? Aren't these your actions upon receiving Christ and His promises? Or did you simply not have to say anything.

If you make it all the way through my post, Gold stars for you. :D

Thank you, is this something we can agree to disagree on? Or do you claim unless I see it your way that I can not be saved because I claim to have made a decision?

Just because God is all sovereign doesn't mean he causes or is the agent of everything. Does God will one man to the murder of an other? Was God the agent of that man to sin to murder another? If God wills everything to happen, then we have a problem.

Salvation comes by grace through faith. Grace is God's part; faith is man's part.

God bless, I'm burnt out on this...May God's peace and love be upon you Jimmy.

when i read this i expected to have to reply to an atheists calling god a rapist because of mary. Ok, so I belive in Lutheran predestination, the belif that God does predestine some to salvation, but those not predestined to salvation have free will whether or not to be saved.

So who are those who were predestined for salvation? Noah, Abraham, Moses, the disciples, Paul and the Heroes of the faith (Hebrews 12)??

All the writers of the bible(I assume), all the prophets(assume) probably a lot of the early church, and some of the Christians today(I don't know If I was predestined or came through my own will)

God created the world for our benefit, not his.

For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16 RSV

Those who repent of their sin find great peace. Those that don’t repent don’t find peace. It's got nothing to do with predestination.
