So I already have to believe the bible to understand it? How could anyone ever become saved if the tools for salvation, laid out inside it, could only be understood by those who already have salvation?

Your argument implies that the citations are all within the bible. Even if they weren't useful to me, you could still link to them if they existed. But it's probable that you avoided doing that because they don't exist.
Yes, you must believe first to be saved. Only those who are already saved can receive salvation, as salvation was set before the foundations of the world. Faith is granted upon hearing, to those who know the voice already, as they recognize His voice when He calls.

There was no point in reference, because my words and references are common knowledge to believers.
If a Believer questioned me, then I would point to the place.

Remember that Satan likes to pretend to be God.
Netanyuhu is not the "root of Jesse", and his calling out to people is not the calling of God.
Satan is setting up for his grand finale. It is called "the great deception".
This doesn't fulfill the millennial Kingdom, or even set up for it. It is setting up the false kingdom of the antichrist.

The current nation of Israel does not fulfill the OT promises to Israel. It tries to make itself look like God's Kingdom, but it is built by human hands. It is a false fulfillment.
Christ will come and restore the Kingdom. The current one will be destroyed in the Wrath of God... but many will remove themselves from Babylon before-hand, recognizing the abomination, and will run to the hills. They will turn to Christ, and away from the Satanism of the Talmud.

What is happening today was prophecied about, but it is NOT the restoration foreseen by the Prophets, but instead it is part of the falling away.

Satan is trying to get people to be physically minded, and looking to simple, temporal, physical things as fulfillment. Don't buy into his deceptions. The true fulfillment will not be mistakable! It will be world changing.

Yup ... my belief entirely.

I didn't question whether "you must believe first to be saved". I asked if one needed to believe in order to understand the bible -- that is, if one needs to believe first before they can learn that belief is necessary.

But who cares if I can understand the bible? Apparently your claims are "common knowledge" (why you'd need to explain them if they were already known to the target of your lecture???) rather than something based on factual sources.

Yes, a person needs belief to understand. Without it, they are just rambling words on a page of an fairly disjointed book. With it, they are the very breath of God, breathing life and wisdom with every syllable.

To your second point: I didn't need to explain the common, but simply remind them of it, that they would connect it together. Sort of like the Socratic method, where you already have the information, but need to be led to the conclusion.

Her interpretation may have been out-of-context, but yours has no context. What is your citation for any of these claims? Can you name one known instance where "Satan pretended to be God"? How do you know that Netanyuhu isn't of David's lineage? What does it even mean for Israel not to "fulfill the OT promises"? In what way does it "[try] to make itself look like God's Kingdom"?
Hi, Starcrash.

Although I actually agree with most of what Sophia stated, I'm sadly disappointed in her refusal to answer your questions. I mean, even Jesus answered the questions of those who were merely out to "tempt Him" or to "catch Him in His words" (and I don't perceive that you were out to do either, btw), so I don't approve of her attitude towards you and I apologize for the same.

Anyhow, to answer your questions, Sophia's own reference actually refers to Satan masquerading as AN ANGEL OF LIGHT (II Corinthians 11:14) and NOT to him masquerading as God. That being said, however, Satan has long desired the worship that is due to God alone and he will receive the same on pretty much a global scale in the person of the antichrist before everything is said and done. In relation to that, we read:

II Thessalonians chapter 2

[1] Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,
[2] That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.
[3] Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
[4] Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.
[5] Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?

In this sense, Satan will masquerade as God in that he will briefly sit upon David's throne in a coming third temple in Jerusalem in the person of the antichrist and he will, in effect, "show himself that he is God" or be worshipped as the Messiah.

As far as "the root of Jesse" is concerned, that title belongs to Jesus Christ and to Jesus Christ alone:

Isaiah chapter 11

[1] And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:
[2] And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;
[3] And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:
[4] But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked.
[5] And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins.
[6] The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them.
[7] And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox.
[8] And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice' den.
[9] They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.
[10] And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious.

These verses are referring to Jesus Christ and not to Netanyahu and you were correct in pointing out that the actual timeframe being spoken of here is in relation to the Millennial Reign of Christ. Jesse was David's father and Jesus is "the son of David" Who will ultimately reign over this earth out of Jerusalem while sitting upon the throne of David at His second coming. Again, for a brief period of time before this (3 1/2 years), said seat will be occupied by the antichrist in that he will sit in the temple and show himself to be God.

As far as your other two questions are concerned, the Bible speaks of two totally different "Israels":

1. Natural Israel.
2. Spiritual Israel or what the Bible calls "the Israel of God".

Similarly, the Bible also speaks of two totally different "Jerusalems":

1. Natural Jerusalem which now is.
2. Heavenly Jerusalem which is to come.

Galatians chapter 4

[21] Tell me, ye that desire to be under the law, do ye not hear the law?
[22] For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman.
[23] But he who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of the freewoman was by promise.
[24] Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from the mount Sinai, which gendereth to bondage, which is Agar.
[25] For this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children.
[26] But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all.

Anyhow, there's currently a thread going in which these two totally different "Israels" and two totally different "Jerusalems" are being discussed (I'm one of the participants) and you can view it here if you'd like to:

http://christianchat.com/bible-discussion-forum/107934-descended-israel-vs-belonging-israel.html

I hope that this helps to answer your questions and, again, I apologize that you were basically rudely brushed off earlier.

God is good and His plan is good. It has taken into account all evil which has and will occur.
Our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the devil and the ways of this world: Eph 6:12
Satan is the "god" of this world and has been since Eden: 2 Cor 4:4, Eph 2:2, John 12:31, Matt 4:8
Satan is in control of both the oppression and the resistance, the elite and the common man, it is all an elaborate attempt to fool us (The Hegelian Dialectic - https://www.fhu.com/hegelian.html) and lead us away from God.

These things must come to pass.
The devil and the powers that be are merely playing their part, then they will be judged, brought to Justice, and then destroyed. They may think they are in control, but they are deceived.

The mind set on the flesh is death: Romans 6:6-8
Do not let yourselves become corrupted by evil. Do not return evil for evil.
Take this time to repent, turn from wickedness, and seek the Lord in prayer and the Scriptures. Prepare your hearts and minds so that you will not only be able to stand, but will also be useful to God in these last days. Ask and strive to be conformed to Christ, so that you will be a beacon of salvation to all who are lost. (Not for our glory, but out of love). He will be with us and help us through our trials.

Matthew 9:37-38
"Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; 38 therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”

2 Timothy 2:1-7
"You then, my child, be strengthened by the grace that is in Christ Jesus, 2 and what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men[a] who will be able to teach others also. 3 Share in suffering as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. 4 No soldier gets entangled in civilian pursuits, since his aim is to please the one who enlisted him. 5 An athlete is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules. 6 It is the hard-working farmer who ought to have the first share of the crops. 7 Think over what I say, for the Lord will give you understanding in everything."

Our greatest testimony to the lost during this time will be our love towards our oppressors and our faith to face death with joy and peace. Do not give fear any place in your heart, but trust in our Father, giving thanks for our hardships that they will perfect our faith.

Luke 12:4
"There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love."

Revelation 2:10
"Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and for ten days you will have tribulation. Be faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life."

James 1:2-8
"Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, 3 for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. 4 And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. 6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. 7 For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways."

James 4:1-10
"What causes quarrels and what causes fights among you? Is it not this, that your passions[a] are at war within you? 2 You desire and do not have, so you murder. You covet and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel. You do not have, because you do not ask. 3 You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions. 4 You adulterous people![c] Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. 5 Or do you suppose it is to no purpose that the Scripture says, “He yearns jealously over the spirit that he has made to dwell in us”? 6 But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” 7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9 Be wretched and mourn and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. 10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you."

The kingdom of Christ is right around the corner. And for many, it is only a quick death away.

John 12:24-26
"Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit. 25 Whoever loves his life loses it, and whoever hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. 26 If anyone serves me, he must follow me; and where I am, there will my servant be also. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him."

Romans 8:18-25
"For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. 19 For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God. 20 For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of him who subjected it, in hope 21 that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to corruption and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God. 22 For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now. 23 And not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies. 24 For in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? 25 But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience."

Also, turn off the tv, do not put your trust in any politician or religious figure or any other worldly thing. Seek a deeper relationship with Christ. Realize that the things we see with our eyes are not the ultimate reality. We do not need to fear the things we see. If we are in the will of God, our prayers (prayed out of love and truth) will be answered powerfully.

Colossians 3

If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. 3 For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ who is your[a] life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.

5 Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. 6 On account of these the wrath of God is coming.[c] 7 In these you too once walked, when you were living in them. 8 But now you must put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and obscene talk from your mouth. 9 Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old self[d] with its practices 10 and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator. 11 Here there is not Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave,[e] free; but Christ is all, and in all.

12 Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, 13 bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. 14 And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. 15 And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. 17 And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Mark 8:31-38

And he began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and the chief priests and the scribes and be killed, and after three days rise again. 32 And he said this plainly. And Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. 33 But turning and seeing his disciples, he rebuked Peter and said, “Get behind me, Satan! For you are not setting your mind on the things of God, but on the things of man.”

34 And calling the crowd to him with his disciples, he said to them, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. 35 For whoever would save his life[d] will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel's will save it. 36 For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul? 37 For what can a man give in return for his soul? 38 For whoever is ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him will the Son of Man also be ashamed when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.”

John 14

“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God;[a] believe also in me. 2 In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. 4 And you know the way to where I am going.”[c] 5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?” 6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you had known me, you would have known my Father also.[d] From now on you do know him and have seen him.”

8 Philip said to him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.” 9 Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and you still do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on my own authority, but the Father who dwells in me does his works. 11 Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me, or else believe on account of the works themselves.

12 “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father. 13 Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you ask me[e] anything in my name, I will do it.

Jesus Promises the Holy Spirit
15 “If you love me, you will keep my commandments. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper,[f] to be with you forever, 17 even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be[g] in you.

18 “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. 19 Yet a little while and the world will see me no more, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. 20 In that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you. 21 Whoever has my commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves me. And he who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and manifest myself to him.” 22 Judas (not Iscariot) said to him, “Lord, how is it that you will manifest yourself to us, and not to the world?” 23 Jesus answered him, “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. 24 Whoever does not love me does not keep my words. And the word that you hear is not mine but the Father's who sent me.

25 “These things I have spoken to you while I am still with you. 26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you. 27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. 28 You heard me say to you, ‘I am going away, and I will come to you.’ If you loved me, you would have rejoiced, because I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I. 29 And now I have told you before it takes place, so that when it does take place you may believe. 30 I will no longer talk much with you, for the ruler of this world is coming. He has no claim on me, 31 but I do as the Father has commanded me, so that the world may know that I love the Father. Rise, let us go from here.

Revelation 21

Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. 2 And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place[a] of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God.[c] 4 He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”

5 And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” Also he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” 6 And he said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the thirsty I will give from the spring of the water of life without payment. 7 The one who conquers will have this heritage, and I will be his God and he will be my son.

[3] Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

[2] And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;

I saw 'answering' more as "throwing pearls", as no matter what I said, true or false, it would be trampled.
At the time, it seemed like 'brushing off' was more merciful and instructive than if I had simply humored him.

But I'll accept the rebuke that it was rude. I should have had more care when speaking.

For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city.

20 And when ye shall see (Jerusalem compassed with armies), then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.

21 Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out;
and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto.15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation,
spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)

16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:

Understand, O son of man, that the vision is for the time of the end”

Her interpretation may have been out-of-context, but yours has no context. What is your citation for any of these claims? Can you name one known instance where "Satan pretended to be God"? How do you know that Netanyuhu isn't of David's lineage? What does it even mean for Israel not to "fulfill the OT promises"? In what way does it "[try] to make itself look like God's Kingdom"?
Even Satan comes as an angel of light. He desires to sit in the seat of God showing HIMSELF that he IS God. I think she is saying that all Israel is not Israel. But only the seed is called. Any way ,I have a kinda question, Isn't the church the dwelling place of God? Are not the Jews and the gentiles in Christ been called into one body, one building of God to be his Temple and habitation? Know ye not that you are the temple of the Holy Spirit and God dwells with you? Present your selves unto God a living sacrifice , holy and except-able unto God which is our reasonable service. God Bless all those whom he has called....
